    I don’t mean this to be disrespectful in anyway but honestly after viewing your channel for the past 2 years I’m starting to see why some people say you have a Shin Godzilla obsession.
    That being said I still like your videos and content.

      Odd that people think that, considering the last in-depth video I made about Shin was over five years ago and the majority of my material doesn't mention it at all. I suppose people will believe whatever they want, though. I only brought it up in this review simply because I noticed the parallels.
      Glad you still enjoy the content.

      @@omniviewer2115 5 years ago? Your latest video of "Shin vs Gojira" was only like a month ago. At this point, you're kinda like an internet-Ahab, unable to move on from obsessing/hating over Shin to take it down when even a lot of Goji fans themselves already able to move on 🤷

    • @omniviewer2115

      @@androyus What I meant was that prior to starting the Shin vs. Gojira series, it had been over 5 years since I said anything of true significance about the film. I've also made a great deal of videos between each SVG piece that have nothing to do with Shin at all because it really doesn't take up that much of my life. In fact, videos devoted to Shin Godzilla comprise a miniscule fraction of my overall content. I only brought it up here because it was relevant; none of my previous BLAZAR videos have focused on Shin at all, nor has the vast majority of my videos. Once I finish the GVS series, it is highly unlikely that I will ever bother discussing the film again, because I will ultimately have no desire to.
      In truth, I am not obsessed with hating Shin at all. You can believe me or not, but it remains the truth regardless.

      @@omniviewer2115 Yeah, you start making videos bashing on Shin after 5 years of "hiatus" from it only proved that you just can't let go of Shin (at least from the outside). Like, even a lot of Star Wars diehard cont-creators who swore to hate The Last Jedi until their dying breath back in 2017 already stopped making jab videos about TLJ since around the pandemic hit. And here you are, still actively bashing a movie from 2016 in 2023 🙄.

    Incidentally, the idea of let's go hard selling toys (specifically spare toy stock, especially Transformers which were themselves spare toys once upon a time), BUT ALSO make a meaningful story, is the key to victory behind Sunrise's GaoGaiGar.

      @omniviewer2115  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      That raises the question of which one is more powerful or more impressive. Nijikagachi is likened to a god, of course, but Gomora bested a classic Ultra just by being a normal dinosaur.

      @@omniviewer2115 To be honest that is a good question, but i think a good thing to remember is that Gomora only used his strength and no ranged attacks while Nigikagachi used its rainbow beam. that being said Nigikagachi is still an amazing monster, best of Blazar so far. With that being said if this was the Gomora like episodes, then what will Blazar's zetton stand in be like!!!

    Having the professor with the unique connection to the kaiju as an acting character is much better than just hearing about him without a proper explanation like in Shin Godzilla. I mean, it's interesting in Shin Godzilla, but ultimately unsatisfying for a stand-alone film.

  • @logandothewarlock6043

    The key thing that I love about Blazar is that it feels like the show comes first, (well, before the toys anyway) and that the toys are based on the show concepts and not the other way around. Like you said, if the show is good on its own, they don't need to have it be a toy commercial, the merchandise will sell itself.
    Edit: one extra thing I'd like to mention is that while your stance on villains in other superhero fiction's opinions not being refuted is true, the point of those stories is to let the audience decide whose philosophy is true. It is still kinda bad writing though, as even if no one in the story outright refutes the other, there is the idea of "Show, don't tell." The beliefs that are morally wrong should become obvious due to them being portrayed as wrong, not outright said to be.

  • @enocescalona
    @enocescalona ปีที่แล้ว +3

    i can't really refute there aren't similarities between this ep and Shin Godzilla, i do agree with you. On the other hand, i do feel until the people involved don't explicitedly say it was an influence on the episode, i feel it could just as likely be a coincidence. I do agree it is a very good episode and has things that SG could indeed have used (maybe not the giant mech and alien tho, lol).
    I do hope this means Minus One makes a evolution of a Godzilla 54 like movie, unto a better path.

    • @omniviewer2115
      @omniviewer2115  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      It might very well have been coincidental, though it would be quite a staggering coincidence if so.

    Ultraman Blazar, to me, feels a lot like that of Lego Monkie Kid. Both are kids shows based off of preexisting stories (Ultraman and Journey To The West) that are meant to sell toys. But instead of making the entire show basically an 11-22 minute long toy advertisement, they focus on making the story be the thing to sell the toys, and thus making the story as good as it can be. And my word it pays off in both regards.
    I'd highly recommend Lego Monkie Kid. Even if your not a fan of Lego Shows, I'd still say give it a watch. Hell, it has Johnny Yong Bosch, who plays Gento in Blazar, voicing Nezha in one of my favorite vocal performances of that show, alongside Sean Schemmel, voice of Goku, as Sun Wu Kong.

    After hearing the statement about heroes not pointing out the flaws in the villain’s actions, I can understand that fact. Also, a thought had stuck me. A TH-cam channel that focuses on the basic of transformers lore, known as Chris McFeely, stated in some of the stories about Optimus and Megatron’s in reforming Cybertron’s caste system. That being Prime, War for Cybertron, and Cyberverse. They gave their reasons why they have different views on how to make Cybertron better with Megatron’s being in the wrong. How it culminated in the end in Prime is that Megatron realized that his judgement is wrong after being tortured by Unicron, as well as IDW Megatron leaving the decepticons and joining the autobots to redeem himself for the crimes he committed the universe. I might have this a little off, but the facts were stated in the videos, particularly Megatron’s video.
    Go see them yourselves on your time. They are go at explaining some details that didn’t know about.😊

    Out of topic Omni but when you mentioned Garamon in the next episode, you need to revisit Ultra Q because everyone who watched it already knew the original name of Pigmon (the body of the monster) is Garamon, and they are not creatures but an actual Robot that been send to invaded Earth. They appeared twice in Ultra Q. However, due to the fact the body and design of Garamon were change into Pigmon in the original Ultraman and made it a friendly monster, many people don't realise about it. That's why the chance for Garamon to appear is slim. Some people even confuse of the two. However, the director of this series is a fan to revisit old Kaijuu so choosing Garamon instead of Pigmon is something I expect him to do. Also, judging by the preview, Garamon is no push over, literally beat down Blazar to the ground.

    The best explanation of villainous motivation can be found in Mick Foley's "Have a Nice Day!": Michael P.S. Hayes tells him that it doesn't matter how ludicrous a heel's motivation is, as long as the heel completely believes that their actions are justified, the audience will believe as well. Evil for the sake of being evil just doesn't work beyond children's media.

    Shin Godzilla is a masterpiece your wrong

  • @elbherna5201
    @elbherna5201 ปีที่แล้ว +5

    I'm so sorry for having to be this negative, but:
    In my opinion, every single point debated here is sad, like if you had a personal vendetta against Shin and you needed a point against it so damn hard that you used a completely different product and tried to form a "good constructive critique" with it
    Shin Godzilla is a political satire about the government of Japan being useless in times of need because of their entensive protocols, Shin doesn't want you to know every single aspect of the creature because that's what makes Shin a believable creature, he is a force of nature created by humanity's foolishness, the monster presented in the Ultraman series is only a monster controlled by an evil scientist, he's not interesting, just your average villain of the week like the showa Gamera and Godzilla villains
    Speaking about the human characters makes me think that you didn't understand the point of having SO MANY of them in Shin, the movie constantly tells us that the protagonists are only a part of something bigger, the society
    Why do you think that every single character has text telling who they are even when said character maybe will only has 3 seconds of screen-time?
    I watched the two episodes to understand the context before watching this video in the official Ultraman Channel and I must say that i was entertained but nothing more, I know that this series is for kids but I felt that it was a generic story with good action, in my opinion, All Monsters Attack surpasses this two episodes by a mile because at least they are original by having a victim of bullying facing his fears by imagining fighting alongside his favorite character
    I don't know, maybe I'm absolutely wrong in every aspect, it would be perfectly possible, but I think that you comparing these 2 products is like comparing The Lion King and Beverly Hills Chihuahua just because they have talking animals

    • @omniviewer2115
      @omniviewer2115  ปีที่แล้ว +6

      Based on this, I'm guessing you haven't seen my most recent videos on the subject. Just to give you context, I'll link them in order:
      Part 1: th-cam.com/video/s5_BIUnLSAo/w-d-xo.html
      Part 2: th-cam.com/video/gT3YqM2Wj9g/w-d-xo.html

      Part 3: th-cam.com/video/_BNO0O1f5TU/w-d-xo.html
      These address every point you bring up, so I recommend watching them at your convenience.
      Truth be told, the only reason I even brought Shin Godzilla up is because the episode had intentional parallels to the film. You might notice that most of the video is spent praising the episode purely on its own terms, with the Shin comparison being the last thing I discuss.
      I would also like to point out that there is nothing wrong with holding up a counterexample to demonstrate how something doesn't work, but also that the series and the movie have plenty of shared elements. Both are works set in the Kaiju genre, both feature a government-backed group dealing with monster threats, both have antagonists depicted in similar ways, both are live action, both are reinterpretations of long-running franchises, both have distinctly Japanese perspectives...I could go on, but I'd be here typing all day. In short, they have enough in common to warrant a comparison.
      You don't have to agree with me, of course, but I still stand by everything I said.
