Have you ever considered ….. just considered, that because you want fd to “change his words” that maybe, just maybe the reason that is, is because you don’t comprehend his content.

" Pathetic spineless in addition to being a grifter"
I'm sorry but Leftwingers are BIGGER grifters than any other political isle I've seen (Centrist, liberal, libertarian, right wing, etc.).
I'd argue FD Signifier, Hasan, Noah Simpson, Vaush, Keffals, Shaun, Joel, and Folding IDeas are just top of my head as the biggest and smuggest grifters of them all.
Honestly the only leftwingers that I consider intelligent and genuine are Destiny, Jimmy Dore, and Ana from TYT. I'd also say that while TYT's Cenk is batshit insane he's at least not a grifter.
Most liberals, right wingers, libertarians and centrists are genuine.
" "Incapable of having a conversation."
You've just described 99% of leftwingers/Breadtubers. Candace and Rubins actually have conversations with people of all political isles while leftwingers like Hasan, Noah, Vaush, FD etc. almost never want to debate because they'll be incredibly bad faith like what we've seen here.

@@HiGlowie as a leftist myself, it pisses me off that FD coulsnt get his ego under control when Khamal was as good faith as they come, and he was genuinelly fact checking stuff which should always be a priority imo.
Even at the start, this diss towards debating was just, ahh wtf
Idk if he understands the importance of debate in politics, even if it was only for entertainment, which it isnt, since the audience can be exposed to great arguments, and to another perspective, as well as the fact that that will prepair them for conversations in the real world whare they would need to use rethoric in order to be persuaisive.
So his, wierd antagonism towards debating just rubbs me the wrong way.
He also didnt admit that, the self help stuff lacking on the left, which it severely is, to the point that the far right has more tips on it than a lot of leftist media figures have, which allows the far right to slip in negative influemces eithin the self help.
      Idk what to say.
I like his content, but he seems to hit a brick wall when it comes to beeing more wholistic abour politics ( which i know not everyone is up to the task, its cirtainly not easy, but it is a necessary skill in politics)
The ego, i think is a part of this kind of leftists predjudice for anything that isnt left, and that is that he seems to think that people just knharently have a double meaning when they say something, that people are trying to conceal racism or sexism and so on.
But whille that is true many times, we cant just assume that this is the case by default.
Group guilt is a logic that leftists should least of all subscribe to, unless a groups fundamental identity relies on haterid towards an outgroup, like fashism - but conservatism whille it is rightwing, and has some tendencies, it is cirtainly not fashism. Besides this, there is a destinction to be made between an actual conservative racist, and someone who isnt really a racist, but just uses language that used to be the norm, so they arent aware how they come across to others.
And again, i tend to aguree with most of what FD says in hisown videos, but then there are thease wierd moments whare he just lacks self awareness 😂
      Anyway, have a nice day

the entire part about how he's a self-admitted propagandist and thinks it's a good thing, entirely uncritical of the harm his smugness is doing to the perception of the left. just, my god. I used to at least respect this dude a bit among his peers as someone who seemed to at least buy the stuff he was trying to sell to people, but this smug lefty "I promise I'm just using propaganda for good, smiley face" nonsense is only ever going to make more people hate left-aligned people for years to come. that plus the sheer inability to ever concede any point or just be wrong ever, like one person saying "oh damn that's a good point actually you got me there" is going to collapse the entire political ideology overnight. Noah Samsen jumping through unfathomable mental hoops to defend a misguided flagging campaign because muh politics is another great example. he literally could have just tried to justify what Illy did and say she had every right to flag the dude's video, but instead he tried the weaselly little liar dude approach of um acktuallying everything for like an hour.

I think FD Signifier epitomizes a lot of what's wrong with lefties nowadays and what's been wrong with lefties across history, but on principle I actually agree that being a self-admitted propagandist is a good thing. Acknowledging the genuine role of propaganda and not pretending you're some perfect intellectual algorithm that only speaks in hard facts/logic is a good thing. The first step in convincing humans of your point of view is coming across as human yourself, which in part means using strategies that will appeal to them while using the hard facts as your foundation.

Whenever somebody says "You need to read this book" when discussing a topic. That means they don't understand the topic themselves. Usually it means this:
      1. They own the book, but didn't read it.
      2. They own the book, but mostly skimmed through it.
      3. They read the book, but didn't understand the material they were reading.
Anybody who has a truly firm understanding of an issue is able to talk about it in their own words without telling somebody to read an entire book on the topic. The idiom "If you can't teach it, then you don't understand it" comes to mind. If somebody is talking about an issue and then when pressed for details they say "Oh go and read X." It's because they're just regurging talking points and don't really possess well rounded knowledge about the topic.

At the end of the day FD is a race hustler. Plain and simple. It used to be people like Al Sharpton and you could see him coming a mile away. Not just because of his girth, but because he was so obviously a hustler.

Fd Signifier creating a leftist black creator space runs into one significant issue: Most of us who live and work around black people make someone like FD Signifier an anomaly.
He's a small percentage of perhaps some other academic in the black community who are these specific kinds of leftists, but claim to speak in an authoritive way regarding the black community overall.
Thing is almost no one - especially working class and even middle class in the black community talks like FD or has remotely similar thoughts about capitalism.
One thing that does stand out to me is that alot of people I run into in the black community - especially business owners and entrepreneurs believe they have agency and their attitude reflects it.
FDs core worldview reflects that he nor any other marginalized person has agency because the system is too stacked against them. Most black people don't believe that and their actions reflect that.

This video taught me a lot about communicating and I am only 30 minutes in. First off, Kudos to Kahmal for sounding so non threating and approachable. He really kept F.D. Signifier open and connected to the conversation.
However, I am taken aback by Kahmal's insinuations especially when F.D. left accidentally and a member of the voice chat, presumably an acquaintance of Kahmal, noted that "F.D. left when you (Kahmal) yelled at him". That set the tone for me as to how Kahmal and presumably his acquaintance saw the discussion. Also could be with past experiences with other TH-camrs and this pattern of discussion.
Regardless, it is a good discussion nonetheless. I didn't feel, and haven't felt, that F.D. is smug when he is conveying his message. I watched many of his videos and none of them scream smugness to me. However, if F.D. was to be smug and is correct, would it matter? Say that F.D. is correct but is smug and gets the point across, what should it matter? Especially if he goes on other people's channels, open to discussion, even when the chat is doing him dirty.
Approximately at 38:00, a debate starts about F.D's "How Black Athletes are Exploited" which slowly transitions to a debate about which sport is blackest & why Football is more abusive than Basketball in-terms of contracts. It surprised me that Kahmal wasn't aware of some of the facts that F.D. mentioned. I didn't know them either before watching the video but you'd expect somebody ready to debate the point to know some of those facts, specifically how sports are exploitive since the video is about that.
I commend Kahmal's curiosity to ask about the points he didn't know but I'd expect him to prepare at-least.

But because a person feels that they are being belittled or talked down to they can’t except the information. We all have egos and there’s a thin line to how much we can accept. It takes a really open mind to be able to push passed someone talking to you like a child or out right insulting them and grab the knowledge that’s being given. It’s just like having a boss thats a genius but that yells a lot. Most people or atleast I don’t respond well to yelling. Although I’ve learned how to differentiate between yelling out of anger and trying to demean me versus yelling out of frustration or the person hasn’t matured enough to communicate well. It still leaves a sour taste in my mouth. I’m a supervisor at my work and I’ve learned there’s a balancing act that you have to use when trying to get adults to listen to you and do there jobs well even though they signed an application that says exactly the things that are required of them.

I agree with like 89.9% of what Kamal says. Im a day 2 sub.
However, smugness isn’t an argument and also it feels weird as hell. If you walked into a chemistry classroom and the professor started teaching chemistry confidently and using words that a chemistry professor would use-it seems weird as hell to tell that person they’re being smug and that they need to deflate their ego.
If you work a 9-5, just understand that this 40 year old man did a 9-5 for like 6 years just about the academic study of racism and its implications etc etc.
I feel like there should be a base level of respect for someone who has actually hit the books and at least tried to understand these systems and their consequences.
Of course it’s appropriate to disagree with opinions, disagree with personal flavor, disagree with premises, but it feels incredibly weird to enter into a conversation with someone who has legitimately studied something and not try to learn their perspective without calling them smug every few seconds.
It may have just been the alcohol or setting, but yeah. Id really love to see Kamal blow the fuck up, and I think level-headed black folks are very needed in the “moderate” YT space. But the literal whining about smugness is a weird look.

@upd0g1 I agree with you that Kamal should have came in better with an open mind, willing to learn multiple perspectives. Especially someone with as many credentials as FD.
I guess the question is not necessarily if the confidence is warranted or not (in my opinion it is), but more if the “smugness” is effective for communication.
Also being smug isn’t necessarily always a 1:1 with self confidence, nor is it necessarily an example of positive confidence. It is possible to achieve the accomplishments that FD has achieved, without developing a potential superior complex. Maybe in a different context such as combat sports but not TH-cam essays/debates.

@@chibu3212 that’s fine but the weirdness is what does Kamal have to do with the effectiveness of FD’s communication?
Kamal’s position isn’t “I agree with you and want you to be successful, so your smugness needs to change to get the word out better”
Kamal’s position is “wow. You are so smug.”
Which in my mind is similar to that chemistry lecture situation. You go to the professor and say some shit like “you would be a more effective teacher if you weren’t so smug”
For the professor to say anything less than “go sit down and take notes or get gone” is just professionalism or patience on the professor’s part.
This being a TH-cam stream with someone calling in, obviously the context is different. This is my third video of yours. (I subscribed about halfway through the first one) Great work man. When you can make valid points AND be funny/make people laugh, it's always a good device because the humor often serves to lessen the tension that usually arises anytime Religion or Politics get brought up.
I'm not familiar with FDSignifier (outside of this engagement and the video you made on him and Umar which led to it) but I think he seems sincere and I understand why he draws many of the conclusions he draws.
I think if more political and socioculturally oriented conversations were had like THIS, that the world would be much better than it currently is in many respects. But unfortunately most who watch such content seek to confirm their own preconceived biases and/or quite honestly just want "blood" (metaphorically speaking.). They just like to see people argue or scream over one another while spouting the same wearied out slogans and Bandwagon Buzzwords that might be mildly entertaining, but don't really lead to much growth for any party (or the audience) concerned.
I'm not a formally educated person. I work various construction jobs, mostly landscaping this time of year. 10 hr days with a weedeater, but I do like reading when i can, and read voraciously as a younger man. (yeah, I'm pretty "old" my teen nephew and daughter in her 20's informs me.) So I've read many of the same authors FD mentioned and admire many of them. Especially Dubois and Langston Hughes. And I have to say that it CAN be good advice, his encouraging you to read more when you can if for no other reason than to expand your knowledge base concerning many of the topics you already seem naturally inquisitive and downright brilliant about. I think you have the kind of MIND that books would serve well, because you are a critical thinker man, and critical thinking is one of the most important yet sorely LACKING qualities for most people in modern society in my opinion.
I was surprised somewhat (when pressed to mention an instance of Socialism that worked in a society) that FD didn't mention Jacobo Arbenz as at least a possibility. Because in many respects it could be argued that he fit that bill, or WOULD have, had he been allowed to continue leading his people. (he was a democratically elected leader the CIA and american government had deposed by riling up certain members of his own people against him, in order to put in a Puppet who ended up leading the country further to hell in a handbasket. If you're already familiar with Arbenz please forgive the rehash.)
Also, forgive the near-essay length of this comment but to be fair it was a 2+ HR video and I did watch it to the end.
Books I think you might like if you've not already read Them are : Marshal McCluhan: The Mechanical Bride (and virtually anything he wrote if his ideas resonate with you) Edward Bernays Propaganda and Crystalizing Public Opinion, Walter Lippmann: Public Opinion and The Phantom Public. Anything W.E>B. DuBois, Langston Hughes, James Baldwin (Go Tell it on The Mountain was amazing.) But if you're too busy or honestly just not interested I get that too and maybe...Sparksnotes or youtube videos on them. I realize everyone has different capacities for learning and whether you're watching/listening or reading, if you're learning you're learning. It's all valid.
I don't (or try not to) have any real firm political orientation. I grew up small towns throughout the South (Tennessee.) and
most of the people here are republican types or just completely disenfranchised by it all due to the lack of sincerity and fakeness present on all sides of the spectrum. Yes, unfortunately racism is a huge problem here in my own little area, but there has been improvements, a lot of them I think, and progress is being made. But that's a subject I won't even get into because I've already yapped for 6 paragraphs and have to get to work.
Still (if you read this) again, GREAT content man. I think you're doing just fine and i HOPE you go on to make those movies you mentioned making. I write some when I can. (comic book ideas, poetry, essays, articles, short fiction and a few novels in various stages of completion I go back and forth with.) I think they would be worth watching. Just be careful too. Many Modern Creators seem to have a tendency of Burning out before they really start Burning you know. If you get paid doing something youre truly passionate about you will never really Work a day in your life, you'll just be getting paid to pursue your passion. Try not to let it become too much of a JOB

I’m a neuro, I don’t deliver babies, but I can confirm that in general, African Americans have more negative healthcare outcomes associated with obesity, nutritional deficiencies & other lifestyle factors including drug use & environmental exposure to toxins. Much of this relates to poverty (for example, you’re exposed to secondhand smoke & other toxins in low-income housing) and equalizes when we adjust for income. Meaning, impoverished people of all backgrounds have similar issues.
However, there are some genetic factors for example with heart disease. I’m Latino and it affects our men, too. You just cannot blame doctors or systemic issues for every negative healthcare outcome. If you want maximize your outcomes- eat well, exercise, reduce stress, & get frequent checkups.

People like FD only want to convert people to his ideology because it fits his idea of what society should be like but the problem is people (especially black people) disagree with him about that society and that hurts his inflated ego.
This reminds me of when WillyMac debated Hasan (although less screaming) because both FD and Hasan are so political brained that they can’t handle a normal person who’s not 100% align with them disagreeing with them.
Kahmal and WillyMac both kinda represent like 80% of people in the US, just normal people who aren’t so much into politics. They don’t see things from a “left or right” perspective they see things from a common sense perspective, I think that’s why people like Hasan and FD get more annoyed with you then any right winger or conservative because they can’t write you both off as crazy right wingers or “Chuds” because you’re not and that forces them to realize just how stupid they sound because if normal people like Kahmal and WillyMac don’t like them and their policies then how are they gonna convince the normal person to join their cause?

Most people HATE the system we’re in due to its flaws constantly being exploited by people who care nothing for our wellbeing.

This is a debate between someone who is educated on systemic issues and someone who lives within the status quo. Disagreeing doesn’t equal being smug. Disagreeing also doesn’t make you correct. “Victim mentality” has always been a racist rhetoric to shame disenfranchised groups. Definitely comes off like many of y’all are mad bc you’re not educated

    • @OdaSwifteye
      @OdaSwifteye 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

This is really more like a debate between someone who is a realist and someone who insists on pursuing an untenable goal. Kahmal's point of view is entirely based on what has already been demonstrated. At some point the systematic racism rhetoric encourages division because one side wants to fight because they are convinced that they are victims of literally everything and the other side wants to fight because to accept these accusations would basically be condemning yourself as an immoral and destructive member of society.
An actual, dyed in the wool racist cannot be "educated" on how to treat other races with dignity and respect, but you can nag the rest of the populace into resenting everything you say regardless of whether it's valid.
FD talks so much about being a teacher, but good teachers don't nag, and hammering the CRT issue is nagging as it's being applied to people who are already making a concerted effort to not be racist.

Having a college degree doesn't bar anyone from criticism. This mindset of "You're all uneducated and need to just trust me even when my ideas don't sound good," is part of what turns people away especially when we hear about academic scandals involving campus research.
You can have systemic racism _and_ victim mentality be a problem. The two can coexist and even feed into each other.

    • @MJWCBW
      @MJWCBW 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +9

@@hope-cat4894 that’s not the mindset either. The mindset is “I (or whoever) have studied this extensively on the academic and informal levels and therefore can speak on these issues from that perspective.” No one is telling ppl to believe everything they hear bc someone has a degree. But we’re not going to act like degrees aren’t a validating attribute to any knowledge base. You’re not going to tell your surgeon you’re skeptical of his knowledge bc “academic scandals” exist.
And no. Hardly any ppl of disenfranchised groups are running around feeling sorry for themselves and claiming victimhood as the “victim mentality” rhetoric would suggest. But that doesn’t mean they aren’t victims of and to a biased system.
