If you look up the user guide online, they suggest only using 25 feet of counterpoise and leave the rest wound onto the winder just laying on the ground.
Do you have a rattle noise coming from your cha hybrid micro ? Mine started to make a slight rattle like something is sliding around when I went to disconnect it yesterday
I haven’t bought their kit, but have created a DIY kit and so far I don’t see any significant difference compared to one radial. The most I’ve seen a difference in SWR is in the different locations I’ve been. Different ground have different conductivity properties. Thus I observe different SWR results.
@@frankwc0o Ok, thanks. Maybe best idea is to try my own simple attempts and see how it goes. Operating the vertical without counterpoises is less than optimal (I'm spoiled by resonant wire antennas though).
Not sure why you don't go with Chameleon's recommendation of 25 ft. That's what they supply with the MPAS Lite. Strange you called it shorter and they recommend shorter.
Thanks this was helpful. To one of the comments below I wonder if two or three radials, perhaps even shorter radials, would work better. And I would do it with lighter gauge wire. Otherwise the Chameleon kit will is heavy, particularly for SOTA.
I have other videos with more radials, long and short, and I didn't see any big difference. It has a lot to do with the ground and the ground plane. In these videos I wanted to lower the SWR so I can get 40m without a tuner - but I was not successful.
Different days on the last two videos. I like the park but the ground for conductivity is not super. Then on that day my amp failed! Try to figure out what happened.

Your display of antenna performance is appreciated for comparison and contrast to other systems. 73 from Florida
I use 4-10’ radials and generally have an swr of 1.8-2.3 on 40m. I haven’t tried the recommended 60’ radial.

Not mine. Call them up and ask them, sure they can help you.
@ just got off phone and they said it was ok lol
@@CraigSotelo Super. Good luck. -73
What antenna analyzer are you using?
I'm using the rig expert with my tablet. They both talk over bluetooth.
Debating whether to make my own 4x25' counterpose w/26 gauge wire. Do you see an advantage of the Chameleon counterpoise kit vs DIY?

@@Redhawk03a you will be surprised that the MPAS will work fine without the counterpoise for the spike is on the ground

@@frankwc0o OK great thank you I will check them out
you must have made a dozen videos that day or have gone to that park alot latly.

@@frankwc0o I wonder when MFJ with come out with a ground composition meter 🤣
Chameleon counterpoise are only 25 feet.
