THANKS so much for this video! I have a pea puffer in with my male guppies in a 5.5 gallon tank. The reason all is well is 1) the tank is FULL of live plants for lots of coverage 2) there are a LOT of ramshorn snails. 'Puffy' single-finnedly manages the WHOLE colony of snails by himself. He eats the snail-eggs AND the baby snails. He leaves the adult snails alone. As the adult snails eventually die off from old age, I add more snails from my other tanks. Puffy works everyday checking the eggs. He does NOT bother the guppies. Occasionally the boy guppies try to get amorous with him and he just swims away, lol. It is one of the great joys of my life to watch this 3/4 inch fish manage this snail colony. It is very important to add more snails when the old ones die naturally of old age, after laying lots of eggs in their life-time. 2 years now, this has been going on. LOTS of plants encourage the snails laying their eggs, and give Puffy lots to keep 'interested' in. He carefully SCANS every square inch of the tank for his dinners. AMAZING little fish. I am so grateful to know and be able to observe him.💦🙏🐟
I have 3 amazon puffers with 2 cory catfish and a pleco. As well as 6 pea puffers with a couple cory catfish and chinese algae eaters. I think since the pleco is larger than the amazon puffers they don't bother him. My pea puffers and amazons ignore their tankmates for the most part, but my tank has a surplus of plants in them- that could help.
Im been interested in acquiring pea puffers to attempt to cull an infestation of snails I have in a 10 gallon tank. I wonder if I should try to salvage said 10 gallon for them to live in or have one in a 5 gallon tank I was gifted.
new pufferfish owner here. i currently have a 180 liter tank with pea puffers, amazon puffers and one red tail puffer. I've been thinking about it when I heard that these shouldn't be kept together? Everything has gone well in my tank and there have never been any problems. I just asked, is it good?
I have 5 pea puffers in a 25 gallon and a baby south American puffer they all in a 25 gallon Ive been wanting to upgrade to a 40gallon and buy 1 more south American puffer and 5 more pea puffers what do you think? Ive had no issues with any aggression and there also is a three spot half beak
It does sound like a lot of fish but if everyone is getting along and your doing proper maintenance you should be fine. My advice would be to get a couple more SAP rather than 5 more Pea Puffers and I would go for a 55 Gallon if you’re upgrading as you’ll have plenty space with that and saves worrying about stocking
Yes I have experience with both eating them. The pea puffer slurps it out and the Amazon will crush its shell or swallow whole. However, from what I’ve witnessed, my Amazon’s can only crush the very small ones. Like 1/8” or smaller. They both definitely enjoy ramshorn or bladder snails more tho.
I have 20 peas in a 50 breeder heavy planted and have them with Cory cats to help with clean up going oqqnq 4 years now no fighting and a very healthy puffer to keep and they do know there small big personality and these guys you're going to start out with puffers I would recommend the peas they're one of the easiest to take care of and don't have any really big requirements but you are right mine will only eat bloodworms everything else I put in there other than snails they look at it like it's poop

Fantastic 👍 my first pea puffer was in a 20 litre and lived for years in a massively planted tank with some small Rasboras
@@Fishkeepingmadeeasy That is wonderful. What did he eat?
He ate blood worms, mosquito Larvae and snails 👍

I’ve found that with my Amazon puffers feeding slightly harder pellets has been able to keep the beak well maintained and not needed to trim
That’s good! However a lot will not accept pellets but when they do you’re hit the jackpot 👍
I love puffers... Created an entire cottage industry for me just selling feeder snails.
I’m thankful for people like you as I could never breed enough snails to keep up with my puffers appetite! 🙏🏼
Loved it, you answered all of my questions! I keep pea puffers, and this was very informative and a pleasure to watch, gonna sub.
i keep tropical goldfish and i was wondering if i could add 3 amazon puffers with a few goldfish i have a 300 litre fish tank
They would likely shred the fins of the goldfish. It’s not advised to keep Amazon puffers with fish with long fins

10 Gallon would be better I’d say.
Ive heard 55 gallons for amazons but I've also heard 30... I have a 40 not sure if thatd be big enough for a SAP school
I kept a pea puffer in an angelfish tank. He ran the tank. He pecked every fish once and awhile to remind them.😂

Get pea puffers unless you want something that takes more work. but get amazon puffers if you want something thats more fun to look at.
Great information as expected from your channel, and you don’t disappoint. 👍
Thanks for watching as always mate 👍
Lots 9f valuable info. Thank you❤
Very great video!
Thank you!
Would frozen snails be good for keeping there teeth short
Yes, i think that would be a good idea if they were small enough 👍
Can they eat Malaysian trumpet snails?
They are quite hard shells which could damage their teeth but I know people who feed them to puffers

Very interesting
Thank you 👍
Did you say glass surfing?.. I couldn’t make out what you said.
I pretty clearly say glass surfing not sure what the confusion is.
