    I'm really happy that daniel arms mentioned you guys in an episode, otherwise I might never have found your channel and that would be a shame, because it's really fun to watch both of you build. The barn looks great, by the way. Greetings from Bavaria. :)

    I just figured out why I love you guys so much. When we lived in Germany in 1982 thru 85 we lived on a farm in Wierhoff and the folks we lived with were alot like you two. They figured it out as they went along. Love your videos keep them coming.

    Oh my, I love your baby emu!!! It is so interesting to watch you all work together and see what you accomplish. Great team you all are. Love the little donkey! How sweet napping together!
    The barn is so nice in how you have set it up. Such a joy to follow and see your progress ... Wow, that was smart to concrete the floor,

    with lumber prices.. buy a portable bandsaw mill.. and mill you own lumber from the dead fall on your property... that out the way.... pvc pipes & its fittings, dills, drill bits, drill batteries, screws, nails, saws and saw blades...all prices hiking up.. so make sure you have enough supplies to complete any given project on your property. regards from Singapore, God bless.

    That is going to be a very nice barn!!! Well done. 6x6s are really important since goats are brutal on structures. I will be building our pig pen expansion in the coming weeks out of 6x6s for strength. - Rick

    That was a great project Chip and Nicole. Always fun when somebody else is doing all the work and expense. Up north in West Virginia prices are coming down a lot. I bought a treated 6x6x8 the other day and didn't have to sign away my first borned grandchild. I'm sure hurricane Ida will affect the prices somewhat.

    Why did you not cement the poles in the ground. Will the dirt hold them up enough for rafters..hay...storage? I know nothing about this stuff that is why im asking. You two work your butts off. Take care..much love

    • @HiddenOaksHomestead
      @HiddenOaksHomestead  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      our soil has so much clay that cement is unnecessary

  • @jamesblanton3744

    I live by the Suwannee River and digging post holes in that clay is brutal if you use post hole diggers by happy you have an auger

      @HiddenOaksHomestead  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      That's definitely the way to go. Just not really worth it for smaller holes

    What a big project! Great work, fun video and music. Before you added the cement floor, it looked like when you put your big posts in you just packed them in with dirt. Do they not need to be cemented in? The cement floor looks great!

    Question: Can I ask, did you have to get a permit to build the stalls?

    • @HiddenOaksHomestead

      No sir, in Florida you don't need a permit unless the building has power.

    Awesome job! How long did it actually take from start to finish on the barn?

    • @HiddenOaksHomestead
      @HiddenOaksHomestead  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      without concrete and if we didnt both work a full time job it could have been done in a wekend. But since we only have 1 or 2 hours a day we can dedicate it took us a few weeks :)

    A quarter million dollars...LMAO! Loving y'alls channel so far! #newsub 💜
    Edit: Quick question... Do goats push on barriers like pigs do? I feel like I may have read that somewhere. Or maybe it was that goats get their horns stuck in barriers? I want two ND goats next but I definitely want them disbudded as babies. They would just be for future milking after paying a stud service for them to kid for the first time. (I think I'm using the right terminology but still learning so please forgive my ignoramus a$$ 🤣)

    • @HiddenOaksHomestead
      @HiddenOaksHomestead  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Awesome!!! How'd you find us??? 😁

    • @HiddenOaksHomestead
      @HiddenOaksHomestead  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      We have a strand of electric wire running about shoulder height for the goats around our fence, but goats will definitely try to get their head stuck for sure.

  • @NaeSTay
    @NaeSTay 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    You are worried about a goat getting stuck in the cattle panels? I know it won't be used alot though but on the occasion it does...

    • @HiddenOaksHomestead
      @HiddenOaksHomestead  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      it's possible, but there won't be anything on the other side for them to reach for like there is with fencing. and if they do, they'll be fine until we find them. also, the wholes are smaller at the bottom so it's unlikely they get stuck. great point though, we'll definitely keep an eye on it.

      Plenty. It all comes down to what each individual wants or can invest in.
