Good old heartbreak fishing stories, we've all had that one...or two heartbreaks and it shapes our lives a little. Man I wish I could hit the replay button on a few fights I've had.
I saw a 19-21 lb bass at Casitas lake during the spawn.6-7 ft of water way up a creek arm posted up behind two big boulders that gave it a current break from the incoming flow of rain water .I was fishing out of a float tube and trout would get smashed in that arm by big bass on the regular.I was about 22 yrs old and Senkos we're still relatively a new technique.Probably had caught 30 fish in 3 hours ,best 5 probably went 29-30 lbs ,when I decided to fight the outflow current and go way up the creek arm.I saw the lateral line first as my fin spooked it into about two foot of water.I was shook and went into frozen mode for about 15 minutes. I must of made 3000 casts on that fish but could never get a good enough look at her without spooking her and never threw a different bait while in the water lol..I went back in the middle of the night(was camping there and hiked it in to the spot),made two cast with a black and blue jig and felt the slightest tic..I set the hook and felt the hardest surge I've ever felt .My 15 lb(at the time I thought that was super heavy line😂) test snapped in 1.2 sec and my heart broke.I honestly felt like I had a hook in the potential world record and still think about that day/night 20 years later.
It’s crazy how obsessed you can become. When the bass were spawning here in WV I fished almost every day this year and it definitely paid off in some really nice fish.
Hello! My name is Drew Delaney. I am 13 years old. And I live in Florida. I love to freshwater fish. I go freshwater/bass fishing almost every day. I recently just caught a 8 pound bass(pb). I have been using your lures for the past few years now to catch some big fish! Love them! I think i would be a great fit for your brand to be a sponsor or something across those lines!
I can relate to that. I used to skip at the start of deer season, staying out each day up to the entire week unless I got my first one each year. I believe my teachers figured out my plan, with the season starting the second week of Oct each year and called home. Oh well....
Great story , I got a story of a 10 lb bass on bed at 8 -10 acre farm I fished in youth . I eventually caught her , I think , and several others at our family farm pond as time moved on . I had a dear friend who later took his own life who caught a 10lb fish . That is a whole other story that is fondly remembered . I am 61 years old now and sold my Ranger back a few years ago .Think I will go down to farm and fish this spring for another big one .
@@doughodges3495 Very blessed Doug , family has owned this farm for over 100 years now . Would love to fish some where like fork where your biggest fish could be who knows . Did catch 10 bass that weighed 113 lbs on the Crystal River in Florida one year during spawn .
I haven't seen a record bass living here in Washington. Biggest I caught was just under 7 but I'll never forget seeing a rainbow that had a bigger head then any salmon I've ever caught and bigger then any carp I've seen. This thing was huge and could have been a state record maybe more than 30 lbs. Gets you excited to see big fish that's for sure.
Great story!! Probably about the same size fish I once saw near a bed. I wrote it off as a carp for years until I actually saw a giant one years later in the same lake and it made me think back like HOLY CRAP! That most likely was a bass
I just had my experience with the biggest bass of my life like 2 weeks ago. I was smallmouth fishing on a river and I was hooked into like a little 1-1.5lb smallmouth fighting it to my kayak and out of nowhere I swear it had to be like a 7-8lb smallmouth comes up and mouth wide open strikes my fishes face and the bait in its mouth. And then my fish jumps out the water and the tank of a smallmouth swam back to the deeper water and tree’s. I’ve become addicted to this river like how you use to be in highschool haha.
I hooked one off a stump like that and had never even seen her. Just wanted to pitch on it and still never got to see the fish. She was a lot tougher than my line was!
I caught my PB largemouth (~ 10 lbs) on Lake Fork in 08 or 09 fishing off a dock. It was only the 2nd time, and last time, I'd gone fishing there. Someday I'll go back in hopes of something bigger!!
I caught a 20 lb large mouth bass from lower Castaic in the summer of 1985. There were monster bass in there back then 40 years ago. Not kidding, not exaggerating. It was a legit 20. Unfortunately it was before cell phones with cameras. Caught many over 15, 17 lbs. Thats just what was in that lake before the madness started around 1990 and before the stripers got in there. I caught him on a 10 inch Manns jumbo jelly worm in electric blue. I fished there almost daily for most of the 1980s. I lived in the valley. Was pretty close. Castaic was a really small town back then i cant even imagine what it looks like today. I moved out of cali in 1997...
@@andrewboyce7268 Yea, and I just don't think for the most part those bigguns like shallow water. Almost all of my big bass ( over 6 lbs. ) have come offshore.
@@jerrylanglois7892 I mean I kayak fish in east Texas, and never fish deeper than 5 feet unless there's a deep hydrilla edge to punch. I've caught 4 over 12 pounds in less than 3 feet of water, 1 in October, 2 in late December, and 1 in September. I don't bed fish because that's hunting not fishing, big fish come shallow when there's good grass no matter what time of year it is. If there's no grass on a lake you might be right though they might stay deep.
That's why fishing bedding bass is a bad idea. You hooked a huge female, then she disappeared. Abandoned her eggs. Those eggs with great genes were eaten by predators.
This story gave me the chills. Thanks for sharing

This clip of Lee Livesay talking about Lake Fork and skipping school to post up on a giant bass for multiple days is classic. Eugene’s Ditch, RIP

I could listen to Lee's fishing stories forever

Nice little flex there with that Blue Trophy. The absolute Lake Fork hammer himself.

This guy won the last two years of the bass masters classic on fork
Amazing story!!!I've never could imagine one that big but I know they are out there

Goog luck to you. I miss my old ponds and I’m glad that you’re still welcome to yours.
@@doughodges3495 same here. I’ve only been able to to fish public waters the last few years. Lots of pressured waters that don’t get stocked…

Should turn that into a series.

I'll go catch it
I call bullshit
Eugene ditch did hold some monsters for sure.
Alphaking approves of this guy here. Spoken like a true man.
This guy had to be the model for the puppet Bubba J.
😂😂😂😂😂
Yea, makes sense, I think a lot of those monsters never come in shallow, even to spawn.
Right, they gotta eat giant baits just to survive.

Why is your spinnerbait not on your site yet?
I don't bed fish due to possible issues for breeding. Cool to watch tho.
Damn that would have been awesome if you would have caught her. Man o man
That’s really not skipping school , because she took you to school lol
Mike long would have got her! Haha
