    I know he doesn't make films that often but it's pretty absurd how consistently good he's been for the past 20+ years now

    Greenwood's acceptance speech: mumbled "Thanks" walks off stage.
    He's great, he was always the best part of Radiohead for me. I hope he wins just to see him in a tuxedo/cardigan combo too.

    why are all the videos on this channel really quiet? people bring it up all the time yet they are ignored - boosting the volume in the editing software takes about 10 seconds so just do it

    Huge PTA fan, even bigger DDL fan, and even bigger still Johnny Greenwood fan. These 3 need to get back together. PTA, here these words, "Write it, and he will come...."
    Get him out of retirement please!!!!

    Great film, but there is one apparent weakness: Almas motivations. What is her background? What are (or were) her aspirations and ambitions in life? Not to be waitress forever, I suppose. And if she had some aspirations and dreams, as most people have, how did she came to leave them so easily after meeting Reynolds?

    • @claude1918
      @claude1918 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @Rachel M Well if she didn't have them then the script should have pointed it out somehow. Now it just feels to me that her character was not thought through enough. There is an interview of PTA (can't exactly remember which one) on youtube where the first question asked from him concerns Almas background. PTA just doesn't understand it at all and can't answer anything. A bit embarassing.

      @@claude1918 can you link the interview?
      I always just assumed that she really didn't have aspirations until she met Reynolds. There's also the fact that she's telling the story and is essentially uninterested in her life without him. Therefore why she never explains where she came from.

      I think you put he finger on something deeper here. I'm afraid that the movie is actually quite misogynistic without being aware of it and this aspect is part of it. I mean, PTA can't actually answer why Reynolds was attracted to Alma (06:20). Then after much pause initially "she is cute to look at, she is beautiful, she stumbles, she blushes" and then it moves to "the relationship becomes a match". Quite telling really. If that is still considered "love" that is quite sad and outdated really.
