Fantastic soundtracks. It's really a shame Matt Uelmen left Blizzard. His music is absolutely extraordinary, it fits Diablo 2 as nothing else would, in fact, it is an extremely important part of the great game that has made such an impression on so many of us.
I remember when i was young i was playing act 3 and i lost myself.Do you know what was the problem?I was in gaming club for 3 hours and i spend the 3 hours wandering around trying to figure out where i am in the middle of the jungle without tp's to use to return to town.Ahh good old days.I reinstalled the game last week and when i reached act 3........i lost myself again!!!! Getting to Mephisto felt a lot harder than actually fighting him. Once you've killed those annoying Council Members just before the area he's in, you have plenty of room to dodge his attacks. I would say he's the easiest of the bosses and Duriel is the hardest.
Or you get boosted and skip the jungles :p personally i think it made the game very cheesy and i admit i am guilty to having being boosted and having done tons of baalrunning grinding
i remember getting to the third act after the long as 2nd act and it was feeling like i was getting somewhere and i felt as if i reached a milestone in my characters power
The jungles of Kurast can be terrifying and a nightmare but if you persevere and survive and fight your way in the jungle and destroy your enemies, you will overcome it and will never be afraid at all.
But then you confront him in his stinky dungeon and he folds like a house of cards. Many random elites are much more dangerous than him. Well at least from Necromancer's perspective, I never really played any other class. :-)
This is probably one of the most badass jungle tracks I've heard - probably because I just think of fighting my way down that river while giant mosquitoes and demon posessed apes are trying to kill me.
I know a lot of people don't like Act 3 but getting there and seeing it for the first time and being "greeted" by this amazing soundtrack was a great feeling after dying to Duriel over and over.
I think the problem with Act 3 is that a lot of it is sort of maze like but also the side quests are pretty uninspired and not very lore-building or story driven. Whereas Act 1 you feel the emotional turmoil of Tristram being destroyed from Diablo 1, and Act 2 sort of centers around Atma getting revenge on Radamant, the Horadrim lore, and Tal Rasha's story being kind of tragic and epic, Act 3 just sort of goes "Oh yeah well this church got corrupted go cleanse it of evil" and none of the supporting quests do much to reinforce or make the jungle of act 3 very relatable. None of the characters hold a great personal grudge or feeling, they didn't lose loved ones or anything to really drag you in emotionally at all. The quests themselves are kind of doo-doo, especially the Golden bird trading stuff for other stuff. I don't hate act 3, and actually about this time you start to be at the level where you can use your more powerful skills. I'd say when you get here on nightmare, the game really stops messing around. The exploding shrapnel will just tear you apart without warning if you're not being careful. I sort of dread Act 3 on nightmare.
