Hi there!
We are Diane & Christoph, two intrepid travellers that can forgo almost all creature comforts, except for good food, delicious cocktails and great wines. We love the open road, the company of interesting people, wide open spaces and cultural exchanges.
Join us on our adventures as we discover the wild side, for a taste of the Soul Tonic Life!
We are professional photographers based in the beautiful mother city, Cape Town and have been involved in food photography/styling and travelling writing. Our jobs and passion for food and travel have allowed us to travel to destinations far and wild, the wilder the better. We have travelled through Vietnam on motorcycles, a dhow in Madagascar, discovered remote corners in Namibia and slept in the wild only to be woken by the roar of a lion. Join us as we take you along with us on some incredible adventures travelling on planes, boats, motorcycles and 4x4.

Hello to our favourite poler and excellent guide. X
I really need to go back again to the Kgalagadi again.
Amazing place, vast solitude, unforgiving roads and lots of adventure.
Agreed. I’ve just left Gonarezhou, it’s no match for Kgalagadi
Soul Tonic 🎉🎉Mr Eric I hope you got fun my friends
We had a lot of fun with you on the river. Thanks for making memorable and special. You are a fine young man😊
Nice, I hope an episode is loading

Day 2 is even more of a whoohooooo 🤣😉
thank you for a cool career as a fisherman ! nice one 🎉
Damn that coffee looks good. now you can turn the traffic from cars to Elephants. "Then you can do a short jog round the Tuli block before going for a (Kaal :n Gatjie) swim to Carl Orf.or walk away from Carmin-a-piranha." Have a lekker lekker trip guys. Are you heading for the Moremi this time?
We can’t wait for the dust. Moremi is in our sights but first we have ti get lost in the Kalahari.
hey just found i can follow you on satellite GPS. Styling
That is good we will be able to text anytime.👍
When you're far away and have a problem, then meet people who can help you, it's a wonderful thing.
Often the basis of new friendships. We have meet quite the collection of people. 😉👍🏼
This is a very true statement👍
I like nature too
Nature is incredible and we are extremely lucky to be able to learn from it and to immerse ourselves in it. 😉😁

Thank you 😉
This is wholesome! From the humour to the food preparation. New subscriber!
Thanks Edward, always lovely to hear from a new subscriber.
I have been following, and enjoy all your trips and the natural way in which you present them, which is why I am happy for your suspension upgrade, but I hope you aren’t joining the brigade who’s shows become more about promoting the suppliers who sponsor most of their accessories! Keep up your great style of sharing your trips. I will be in Bots early May and hope I bump into you.
Thank you… such a nice compliment. I am glad you enjoy our content. The main thrust of this channel will always be the expeditions into Sub Sahara. There are a lot of amazing trips planned for the future of this channel. So stay tuned. We do have to prep our vehicles with gear and this is of interest to a part of our audience plus ASPW needs a bit of competition. 😉We hope to see you out there in the wilderness.
We‘re looking forward to your Botswana trip. We‘re doing ours in September starting for 9 weeks. Would love to see and share your experiences.
Excellent! Will gladly share.

@@SoulTonicLife as long as your path "kronkels" enough. In the words of Neville Shute "You gotta be a little bit round the bend to see the long straight road ahead"
Nicely said 👏
Well done on the upgrade , looking forward to your Bots Trip
Thank you - Yip we are as excited
If you do this trip again, consider Divorce Pass out of the Ugab- easy in a Landcruiser and the 48 mile trip to TWF is stunning. Keep safe...
Hey thanks for the comment. We have done Divorce pass and covered it in a previous episode Namibia untamed Grand Finale. Its one of the finest overlanding passes. In fact we were in the area when lion was spotted on the pass. th-cam.com/video/HgiLQvjnMlM/w-d-xo.htmlsi=mGq7osqaWY1Gl-b0
I’ve driven past that house a few times. Always thought it would have an amazing view. Seems I was right.
Hey Mark, yes she does command a fantastic view, we were lucky to explore her properly and let’s say she has great bones. It would take a fair amount of time and energy to renovate her to her former glory, not to mention the spandoolas it would cost. We were just so happy to spend a night perched in our RTT enjoying the company of the nags and the generosity of the farmer. Some really kind people out there.
What a place. I sometimes wish for your luck cause damn, if I lose light and the area is fenced up left to right can be a pain. Nice one Soul tonic.
Glad you enjoyed it! We throw caution to the wind and try to make the best of a bad situation. Often it is a lesson in attitude.
Flipin' awesome guys - Thanks for sharing...
Thanks Kellie much appreciated, we are glad it struck a note with you. More to come.
Well I'm still laughingXtoph I don't know how you managed to get out of that chair, I swear I can still hear Diane hooting and unable to help you out! This was really a beautiful journey. Thank you once again for sharing your incredible trip with us! Waiting in antissipation for the next one Love you guys!!
Agreed Dianes wicked laughter 🤭 is actually the funny bit.

R5000 per night!!
Ja boet these days looking out the window costs you money! Good thing there is a fully equipped kitchen and braai so you can save a buck here and there.😬
Puik episode this is overlanding , adventure at its best epic content
Thanks Shaun, was a good adventure and that farmers generosity was amazing. Christoph particularly liked the farmers wife’s chastity belt key, I had to insist that he return it 🤣👍🏼
That house looks amazing…. Not to mention the Lighthouse…❤
You two would have loved the lighthouse. Was beautifully restored. As for the house on the Zuurberg mt pass, so, so much potential. 👌😉
Oh wow you guys are really finding the gems out there. Im following in your footsteps 😉
Was a great trip, reconnecting with old friends and enjoying unplanned adventures, good fun!🤩
Thank you for the fan mention on episode 5! Lionel and I were super chuft to stop and chat to you both (even though it was brief in Baviaanskloof). Keep the great videos coming … we really enjoy watching your travels.
Fern and Lionel, was such a lovely surprise to meet you both briefly out on an adventure in the Baviaanskloof, hope you had a great time. Thanks for watching and following, we really appreciate it and hopefully our paths cross again. Keep the spirit alive 😉
What a beauty! Thank you for once again sharing your adventure and showing new and exciting places that some of us never even knew of! 😍😍😍😍😍😍 Not to mention your expert fishing expedition, brought back such memories and laughter remember the day you and I went fishing in Strand from the Pier and we came back with three fish!!!!
Geez that was long ago, clearly far less fish now than there used to be or they saw us coming 😂
Stunning again. Julle mag maar
Thanks Leon 😉
As always epic content dankie julle twee vir deel
Hey Shaun, thanks for all your encouragement, always nice to read your feedback 👌😉
Cool music, I think you were a jazz DJ in your youth!
Hehe …Never was a dj …always loved music.
Hi, love your content. One suggestion dont guys have a cordless mic, as some of the talking is very soft?
Hi Jacque, thanks for taking time out to feedback. Totally agree that the sound needs a bit of a rethink. Unfortunately as the series has been captured already we are going to have to wait till the next series for some better sound. 👍🏼👍🏼
I love your videos. One question: would you exchange your beautiful 4.2 76 series for a new 2.8 land cruiser?
Thanks for asking this question. It is a complicated question, but a good one. Buying a vehicle like this on the one hand emotive and on the other a financial consideration. Based on the specs and performance alone the 2.8 seems like a no brainer. For me the 4.2 is still doing duty and reliably with a lot of extras that I have added over time. In Africa the 4.2 is well known and easy to fix as it is more”mechanical” Less to go wrong when the going gets tough. This introduces the question of the budget. A new vehicle has to be serviced by agent to maintain warranty and insurance will be an additional cost tracker and all that malarki. My rig is 2011 model , bought it second hand with 80000km. I can do my own oil changes. The 4.2 reliable and my budget goes towards getting me into the wild. I don’t really drive it around town. Firing up the 4.2 in the bush inspires confidence and that is why I will hold on to the 4.2 for now. If I had to make a change it would be to make the right more “liveable” inside during inclement weather situation i.e. a Troopy. Not sure if they will reach our shores yet. Happy travels and see you out on the trails.
Hmmmmm the open road beckons 😊
Looks amazing. ❤
Neverland does exist🤙
I would love to live there. Get out of canada
Things are never simple or as rosy as they outwardly seem, Switzerland is beautiful country but I do feel that they come with their own set of problems, not unlike Canada. But we certainly made the best of our visit.
Ek stuur my plakkies.... en 'n tupper vir die oorskiet. 🙂
Jy is welkom 😘
Khumib wild camp epic the two of you on the chairs looking to the mountains priceless this is one of the best episode till do date content out of this world. Ready to rock and roll going north
Wow such nice feedback as always. Thanks Shaun. Yup that is a very special place indeed, a touch of wild camping with a view across the plains, doesn’t get better.
