- Shirley is a small village just off the A52 between Derby and Ashbourne. I like to park the car in a safe place before I go off on a walk. A church in a village usually has some space around it, often they have their own car park. Churches are marked on OS maps, so that makes it easy to plan a circular walk and head back towards the spire which can often be seen a mile or two away.
More pictures and info of the church, on the blog.

Beautiful 🇬🇧 old church ⛪️. Great to see You today… Amazing Trees 🌳 Enjoy 🌎🇦🇺🦘☀️👵🏻🥰🍂🍂🍂 Autumn here
A lovely church and all so peaceful. Love your little prayers of thanksgiving when you look inside churches. Beautiful birdsong. I hope the sun came out for you x
And Thank You Ilona for showing us this beautiful old Church 😊
Lovely old church Thanks for sharing 🌻
It's a Yew tree🌳 Iliona ☺. Just one. Hundreds of years old probably and protected. They were planted in church yards to ward of evil spirits and witches! Wood very precious for making violins because they don't often get chopped down for wood. Red berries poisoness but black birds can eat the seeds inside. Take care. Sending Springtime blessings 🥀🌷⚘
Very interesting what you have posted.
Amazing tree. Amazing facts that I’ve never heard before x
Smashing voice Ilona
Should join the choir 😊
Thank you for sharing your day x
I love churches❤❤
Thanks Ilona lovely travelling with you Marie in Horsham Australia
Hi Merry Queen, absolutely enjoyed this one. Really love the walk around the churchyard so beautiful I love trees. I love the way that they talk to each other under the ground. The stories that those trees could tell us. Thank you for sharing because I live in Australia as you know, you got me through lockdown in Ballarat a couple of years ago. The chances of my husband and I ever visiting England are extremely rare. So it’s lovely that I can sit here in my lounge room and enjoy company with you and see all of these beautiful things. Thank you so much for all your work doing these. Lots of love from beautiful Ballarat, Australia😘
Very cool looking tree and I love looking at churches. I also love I also love old cemeteries.
👍👍👍
Thanks for another video.
Look at those trees. I’ve never seen anything like that. I’m glad they didn’t cut them down too. Pipe organs are a rarity in the states. Not too many people know how to play them, from what I know. Looks like the daffodils are out there too. Thanks for the video, Ilona.❤️
Fascinating trees ! I’m glad they let the trees remain.
Gorgeous Norman church inside and out!
Your outings are always so educational and interesting , thank you. Birdsong is peaceful ..Look forward to the next vid!!! Love your hair!
Amen to your prayer, Ilona.
❤xx Marilyn
Hi Liona from down here in the SW…I think that big tree in the church yard is a ‘ewe’ tree! I don’t think I spelt that correctly 🫣 I remember seeing them as a child and I remember them being called the ‘ bleeding’ tree! And are typically found in church grounds! I could be totally wrong so please feel free to correct me 😁 ❤ 😊
❤❤❤love going on day trips with you Iiona😊xx
Yew* 😊
@@flumpaustin1994 thank Yew! 😂 😊
Thank you for the additional info. I am not an expert on the natural world, whether it be things that grow in the ground, or species of animals that live above the ground. All nature is wonderful to me.
Brill ilona love your vids 👍👍❤️❤️
