This is the story of my Mom and Dad. Moving to California from Chicago. With five kids in the back of a 59 Chevrolet station wagon. I weep at the beauty of this song.

+Mr. Pink In the summer 1977 my Dad and I drove from Toledo, OH to a Navajo Indian Reservation where my Dad was taking a job as an English teacher at the high school there (Mom, sister, and new baby brother came later). We had some tapes, and listened to a lot of Neil on the way out there. I've been a fan ever since, and every time I listen to Neal I think about this trip, and my Father who has since passed away.
+Mr. Pink Never went to a concert with my old man, he's still around, he just asn't much of a music guy. I did listen to The Beatles and Elvis almost non stop as a kid, as my mom loved them. Okay, in my opinion, this is one of the ten or so greatest rock guitar songs ever recorded. Uncle Neil and 'Old Black' have never sounded so good together. Neil Young is making some of the best music of his career at age 67 with his Faithful Crazy Horse. Damned inspiring! 5 stars.
At 30, I'm too young to have seen Neil and Crazy Horse's classic material come out back in the 60's and 70's, and thought I'd never have an opportunity to hear an epic song like Cortez the Killer or Cowgirl in the Sand released in my lifetime..... hearing this one for the first time proved me wrong. What a mind blowing track, Neil's writing and playing is as good as it's ever been. The man just refuses to age, and we're all richer for it.

I am a big fan of Neil Young's music. In Korea, there is the best singer, singer-songwriter Park Chang-geun, who has been singing for 23 years with Neil Young as a role model. I hope that Neil Young and Park Chang-geun's joint concert will be held.
안녕하세요. 닐 Hi. Neil I'm a new fan from south Korea. This is my second time to say hi to you. I'm very sad. Because his grandmother passed away a few days ago. I think he told his fans his sorrows with this song. Like i said last time... he's your big fan. His name is Bak Changgeun. He is a Korean singer-songwriter. His grandmother is 104years old. He said to his grandmother, "Be happy like the wind and be happy like the clouds .....and was grateful." I felt this song like his grandmother's life. So i am very grateful to you. They drew our lives with a beautiful songs.😊
I know it'll never be name checked along with stairway or whatever but I honestly think this is one of the greatest rock songs ever made. The fact that the well of his artistry is deep enough to have made it so deep into his career is just mind-blowing
Absolutely agree - this song took my breath away when I first heard it, and it was even more amazing seeing it live, with both Crazy Horse and then a couple of years later with Promise Of The Real. All hail Neil!
Hello. I love this song. This song was introduced by Bak Chang-geun. He is a Korean singer-songwriter who looks like you. He's a big fan of yours. If you and he meet and sing, we will be happy as if peace on earth will come.
This song really grows on you. Its long but I find myself coming back to it over and over. Neil proves once again that flashy guitars are so unnecessary.
Yes, this song definitely grows on you. The text is kind of sad though. I have been following Neil Young closely since the so-called "BobFest" in Madison Square Garden in 1992 in honor of Bob Dylan who had his 30th anniversary as an artist. Neil Young made a couple of excellent contributions that I have never forgotten. A couple of years earlier, the albums "Ragged Glory" and "Weld" had come out and which I immediately bought. Since then I have been hooked and especially on the really long songs that give you time to reflect and let it all sink in.
I remember when me and my family did a road trip through the Western USA (I'm European): Arizona, Nevada, California. I would listen to this song on repeat as I was sitting in the back of the car, amazed by the sheer endlessness and the beauty of the landscape.
John Sokoloff well said... And, his music is always available for rediscovery, the future instants grow and we are bound by his compassion and brilliance.
I saw Neil do this with Crazy Horse at one of the last Bridge School concerts. I was enthralled by the song and the passion I heard. It's been one of my favorites ever since...
I am always gratified to read about how so many listeners describe their intense feelings and personal memories of Neil. I see myself in all of them. We are all so lucky, aren’t we, to have so much of our souls wrapped up inside Neil’s endless horizon. How does he do it? Still, after decades, he remains in his output mode, ever-creating, ever-performing. There is nothing to do, but watch Ol’ Black rock back and forth, swing up and down, and behold in gratitude creation taking shape through the filter of Neil Young. This is certainly my own corner of heaven of earth . . . yet look . . . there are tens of thousands of you here with me. Keep on keeping on Neil!!!!
To me its like everything he has done ..rolled into one defining song ..a master peice and a like a personal gift to all true fans that know everything neil crazyhorse young!...cant see him topping this song for me its that crafted wth dna of all he has done..that how i feel it ..outright..and thank christ...all great artists or bands should aim to replicate this mastersong in their own image.
This is everything I want from Neil and the Horse. Evocative lyrics, epic jams, and a vibe that no other collection of musicians on the planet can deliver. Thank you, Neil, Pancho, Billy, and Ralph!
Such a great Man you are Neil. Forty two years following you, listening to you and still the same pleasure, the same feelings. Keep on writing, playing and singing please, never stop. There is no word to thank you for all what you've been giving to me and to so many other folks. May Mother Nature bless you.
Neil does nothing and ignores his fans or people on the street. He's a great artist not a great man. He's independent and does what he likes, and i respect that but i don't think that makes him a caring or great man.
@@oppothumbs1 what about his charity work? Is there something you can share with the rest of the class; a personal anecdote? Not an " I heard " kind of thing... something you actually experienced?
@@ewokwarrior2656 Neil lived on Oppo's street; I read elsewhere from Oppo that Neil never waved or said hi, though Bob Dylan did. Neil treated Carrie Snodgrass badly at the end and didn't help his first son with cerebral epilepsy. I'm not saying Neil's bad. Neil's an OK guy, but other than his sensitive writing, he's not all that caring to people but is into projects like electric cars.
even after all the years I've been listening to and loving Neil, this may be my favorite song of his. This is a heartbreaking tale of a great American family fralling apart...
This is in the top ten of Neil songs, and that's a hard thing to say after all the masterpieces he's written. Perfect mood for the subject, and Old Black tells the story. the melody is genius. I hate to overuse the word, but it's a masterpiece. How many 70 year olds are doing this?
I can hardly bear this song. It sings my life, on so many levels. Of course, we have Neil's guitar, which has been the bedrock of my music collection. He is still singing strongly at this point, and the lyrics are wonderful, so honed and to the point. ' ... visiting old friends, feels right ... ' And this video of found stuff is great, too. All the videos produced for this album are beyond words. ****, Neil don't die. Joni, don't die. What will we do without you?
+Flo Jo I LOVE your sentiment - sounds like he does to you what he does to me. It's almost emotionally crippling and sets every fiber smouldering! What an honest, soul-baring account of what is truth for so many! She's Always Dancing does it to me too - for personal reasons I don't mind sharing. But this is perhaps not the place!
+stephendavidgross Yeah. **sighs** It's ok, we know where we are coming from. I had a Neil Young day yesterday, I have been going across all his stuff - and what a lot there is! But I have never seen 'She's always Dancing' before - where on earth did they find that footage! Although I listen to much other stuff, I have three great heroes. Neil, and Joni, and Kate Bush. They are the parameters of my life. Judge me as you will.
Have I told lately you all how much I hate ads???? Especially when they blurt in while I'm rocking out with cousin Neil. It roaches my peace & tranquility!
In 1982 my college roommate (of one semester) talked me in to listening to more Neil Young. I can't remember that roommate's name, but thank God he talked some sense into me. Now Neil is like an old friend who keeps coming up with new stuff to keep the relationship fresh. Le Noise, Americana and Psychedelic Pill are as good as anything Crazy Horse has ever done. Unbelievably good. Neil and company truly are like fine wine.
As a longtime (1970) fan of Neil Young I could say many things about "Psychedelic Pill", but one thing for sure is that it is a wonderful TRIP. Having a good group of friends with some of Louisiana's finest Psilocybin mushrooms, brewed into a purely heavenly elixir is the way to GEAUX. Even at later listeining dates, it just triggers those long ago good feelings. Keep doing your thing Neil, keep doin' it Man.

In the stereophonic pan, Young's guitar is on the right... In the stereophonic heart of his fans, it's always in the center. We love you, Neil Young & Crazy Horse! Thank you for these endless songs! :)
You have such a profound impact on my career that even the biggest thank you text would fall shout to express my gratitude... Thanks for your support ❤️❤️❤️, if you're really a huge fan of me drop your WhatsApp number I'll text you myself 😊
Classic rock did not end in 70s , and this is the proof ,been listening to Neil and Crazy Horse for at least 40 years, this is some of their best work yet , thanks guys.
During my 1st trip in USA on June 2015, I have selected this song when I filmed the Artist's Drive in Death Valley !!! So Nice, it's the same lenght. It's good to listen Neil Young on the road
I'm staggered by his continuing creativity. Legendary work by an amazing writer and highly gifted musician. His searing guitar work is vastly underrated by so-called experts.
People have LAUGHED at me when I tell them Neil is my favorite guitarist. They just don't understand. The guitar on this song is beautiful and understated, it soars and tells the story of this song perfectly. It's my top Crazy Horse song, along with Change Your Mind, Loose Change, all of Ragged Glory, Big Time, Cowgirl in the Sand. Man there are so many classics!
Hearkens back to his 2nd album and long awesome solos. I love this stuff. This is how I listened to Down by the River in the beginning, driving down I-75, lost in the sound of Old Black!
been listening to Neil for many years, my love for him still growing, he's still going strong. even stronger nowadays. does his duty as a messenger for love and true to the hippie dream.
I wish I could understand what it is about Neil's guitar playing with Crazy Horse, that forces the tears down my cheeks occasionally. I just heard psychedelic pill for the first time in the last month several times, but hearing it on my phone, and watching this video is simply Out of Body Experience almost. I'm not feeling emotional in any other way, but yet both of my cheeks are wet with this strange salty fluid. It is beyond my understanding.
Phenomenal.!!!! I just play this again and again.... The whole Record too of course. This track is just outstanding...... and once is never enough... Thanks for posting but THANKS to Neil for the gift... Saw him TWICE in 3 days in New Zealand in 2013........ Oooooh. Listen to that liquid talking guitar work.....
2017 is here by the skin of its teeth and so is Ol' Chevron Baz...... Reveling again and again with this track and with this mans whole catalogue from a hundred years back....... Just about 70 years on the Planet (this month I start my 70th) and I just cant spend a whole day without Neil. Heart pounding news in 2016 that another tour of New Zealand was scheduled (With Promise of the real) for 2017 was received with utter joy and scheming as to how an old bloke was going to even afford to take in every Concert Neil wanted to do here.. (I think it involved safe cracking after hours.... haha.... ALAS, my criminal free life is safe as I hear news that the Tour, or at least the South Pacific leg of the Tour has been cancelled....... I need to be unselfish here (as I always have been) and so I must realise that a Tour of the proportions mentioned would have been staggeringly 'wearing' for an old geezer like Neil (and ME) and his new Band would have wanted to be seen with him late at night 'seeing the sights' and for the genius, that is NEIL YOUNG, early nights are the thing... I on the other hand have never had an early night in my life ... Read what you can into THAT.... haha..... Listening now (again) to RAMADA INN. I have it on CD of course but am forever grateful to the likes of TH-cam and 'Neilyoungchannel' for making this possible and taking the immense amount of time it takes to download so that I can listen and be MOVED while away from my CD Player... I have a proper Turntable too but cannot afford the 3 disc Vinyl....... Be that as it may, I cannot play a vinyl in the car or on the go or sitting here doing Tax stuff...... Yakida Lads n lasses., I have to reprogramme........ Happy New (2017) Year to you all.................................................
I am a huge Neil Young fan but just "discovered" this amazing moving song recently, this is what I love about his songs, you come back to songs after some time and then realise that you missed a gem. So many gems ...…………..
Saw him in Wellington AND Auckland, last week. Absolute phenomina. Neil n Crazy Horse. Absolutely skint for the next decade but I wasnt going to let these guys slip away. Brilliant clip is this.
Dear Mr. Neil Young Do you by any chance happen to know Korean singer-songwriter Park Chang-geun? To us Koreans, he is like a Korean version of you. Like yourself, he is a revered guitarist and singer-songwriter and has quite a lot in common with you.
He became known to the public only at the age of 50 when he won a national singer contest program on TV. And it is his dream to someday get the chance to meet you in person, Mr. Neil. To him you are the artist he respects and adores most in the world. As a devout fan of Mr. Park’s music, it would be the most delightful thing for me to see his dream come true one day. If it is not too much of an imposition, I would therefore like to ask you to please listen to a cover version he did of your song “Heart of Gold”. And maybe, just maybe, there will come a day where you, Mr. Neil, would consider inviting Mr. Park to perform the song together. One can hope. If such collaboration would in fact come true, I would walk barefoot a 100 miles on broken glass to see you both perform. My deepest appreciation and Thank you.

John Sokoloff well said... And, his music is always available for rediscovery, the future instants grow and we are bound by his compassion and brilliance.
nice
Neil rearranges his riffs on this song, so many times, each melody change is pure beauty.
A book when others are a chapter
Cheers my friend!!!🎸
One word: MASTERPIECE. THANK YOU Neil Young for giving music a whole new meaning to me.
Rock & roll can never die !
💯
An absolute masterpiece. Harrowing guitar. Story of a break up. Hey what's knew.
There's something about that slightly ethereal quivering guitar tone at 4:19 that always makes me shiver. Utterly gorgeous guitar work.
its his native american blood that calls his prehistoric bird sound,
Thank you for pointing that moment out; it's sublime.
This is everything I want from Neil and the Horse. Evocative lyrics, epic jams, and a vibe that no other collection of musicians on the planet can deliver. Thank you, Neil, Pancho, Billy, and Ralph!
Absolutely agree my friend. What a song!🎸❤️☮️
Just working my way through Neil's vast catalogue, where has this one been hiding, it's absolutely fantastic!!
I have goosebumps......the only guitar I ever heard.........breath! Talk about organic!
멋진 풍경과 함께한 닐영 님의 뮤직비디오네요박창근 가수님의 꿈꾸시는 일이 꼭 이루워지길 기대해 봅니다
This is in the top ten of Neil songs, and that's a hard thing to say after all the masterpieces he's written. Perfect mood for the subject, and Old Black tells the story. the melody is genius. I hate to overuse the word, but it's a masterpiece. How many 70 year olds are doing this?
None that I can think of, producing this sort of stuff after so many great albums. Must give credit to Crazy Horse a well!
Couldn't agree with you more . Brings joy and sadness at same time . Masterpiece is an understatement .
Agree 💯!!
+Flo Jo don't worry about them. they are stardust. rust never sleeps
+stephendavidgross
you have a lovely way of 'speaking' . enjoy
Just beautiful music so defiant and ancient sounding, Neil is all about the MUSIC.. Long live the horse..
Have I told lately you all how much I hate ads???? Especially when they blurt in while I'm rocking out with cousin Neil. It roaches my peace & tranquility!
A smile and tear from the same song, thats Neil!
That guitar really spreads out like a large swimming pool. So atmospheric, Young.
This melody will play in my head forever. Thanks Uncle Neil.
Oh God - I am in such a bad place right now, but this song at least gives me hope that it is worth carrying on.
Ramada inn Neil young
doobieman69 carry on my friend
doobieman69 hang on ! You are loved
Hope things have turned for the better, love. Hang on. XO
1960s California for me........boy is this the real thing IMHO........
There's something about these old images that makes you miss the times you've never even lived in
a man like this is very rare!
I love reading all your comments and see how strong and ever lasting is art
As a longtime (1970) fan of Neil Young I could say many things about "Psychedelic Pill", but one thing for sure is that it is a wonderful TRIP. Having a good group of friends with some of Louisiana's finest Psilocybin mushrooms, brewed into a purely heavenly elixir is the way to GEAUX. Even at later listeining dates, it just triggers those long ago good feelings. Keep doing your thing Neil, keep doin' it Man.

Don’t forget Ayahuasca shamanism.
Wow, never knew Neil was a playwright too. Somebody freeze his DNA! Most amazing lyricist and songwriter and singer of all time🥰
Just may be my favorite Crazy Horse song, and thats saying something. Can listen to this over and over and over again...

Hi Neil. I just turned 70. Your music and by extension, yourself is so much a big part of me. Thank you, as I wouldn't want it any other way
Neil young and Crazy horse , there music together is entwined .
In the stereophonic pan, Young's guitar is on the right... In the stereophonic heart of his fans, it's always in the center.
We love you, Neil Young & Crazy Horse! Thank you for these endless songs! :)
박창근 가수님 닐영님과의 만남이 이루어지길 바랍니다.
희망을 가지면 이루어 지겠죠.응원합니다
My absolute favorite track! I think I've listened to it a bajillion times since I downloaded it last September!
We're lucky to still have him around.
Thank God, I had the honor and pleasure to witness a concert of this master
:)
During my 1st trip in USA on June 2015, I have selected this song when I filmed the Artist's Drive in Death Valley !!! So Nice, it's the same lenght. It's good to listen Neil Young on the road
+Ape Chaumont-en-Vexin so where's the filmmmmmm
You're my spiritual guide, Neil.
Neil played this during his concert stop in Tulsa (Oct. 14).
Great tune!
Hope Neil & Crazy Horse return to Tulsa soon!
Honestly, I can't listen to any other song on the album but this one; it's just too good to let anything else intrude. What a masterpiece!
Masterpiece
You said the right word.I consider this tune one of Neils best ever.
i feel more like that about Giant
This is a masterpiece.
Thank you for being such a wonderful soundtrack to my life, Neil. You have given me countless hours of pure joy.
Nice summary.
Incredible song oozes atmosphere has that Crazy Horse beautiful melancholy.
Hearkens back to his 2nd album and long awesome solos. I love this stuff. This is how I listened to Down by the River in the beginning, driving down I-75, lost in the sound of Old Black!
seems like no matter what Neil plays it takes you back to the good old times Long Live you Neil Young
My favorite Neil / Horse song since Country Home in 1990. A masterpiece!
been listening to Neil for many years, my love for him still growing, he's still going strong. even stronger nowadays. does his duty as a messenger for love and true to the hippie dream.
Amen, I grew up with Neil and friends. A period of music which, most likely, will never ever be repeated.
Sadly so.
Me too !
This has to be one of my favorite songs from Neil....just amazing....
Neil Young was over all the years my favorite artist. In good times and in bad times. I love him!
I love him too... always. especially with Crazy Horse!
This song is so beautiful, probably my favorite Crazy Horse song, the guitar work is mind blowing, melancholy, and gorgeous. Long may they ride🐴🔥🤘🌕🏇🏼
Definitely my favorite song on the album...such a jam
❤ one of my favorite songs of Neil ( amazing so sad but so beautiful song)
Looking back at the Reflections of life... WE all have a story to tell... Video brings back memories, good, bad and indifferent!!!
Neil and the Horse have provided the soundtrack to my life... love the hypnotic guitars on this track
This is the song of my life.
I am a huge Neil Young fan but just "discovered" this amazing moving song recently, this is what I love about his songs, you come back to songs after some time and then realise that you missed a gem.
So many gems ...…………..
This is one of his best, in my opinion. It gets better every time I hear it.
Ma favourite album of the year 2012
Probably the best Neil song
Saw him in Wellington AND Auckland, last week. Absolute phenomina. Neil n Crazy Horse. Absolutely skint for the next decade but I wasnt going to let these guys slip away. Brilliant clip is this.
so many times she tried ,so many times she cried.16 minutes of raw expression .Up there with NY,S best tunes
Dear Mr. Neil Young
Do you by any chance happen to know Korean singer-songwriter Park Chang-geun?
