To be honest, I always thought Yamahas cheaper line sounded way better than the price. I had a psr e363 and I swear to god it sounded pretty darn decent, considering the price. I'd actually be using it today if it's interface was more navigable and it had proper ins/outs. It was kind of a pain dealing with it's soundbanks with a sequencer and had i think the headphone jack was the main i/o. Almost any modern yamaha keyboard is actually usable for what I do. As long as they keep being the Yamaha we know and love, I'll always have one. Thanks for the video!
The Genos is a thousand times better. I really wish the drums or even the guitars used in the styles you demonstrated... I really wish they were on the PSR-S600. The PSR-F52 is really not that great.
"High quality sounds The PSR-F52 is equipped with 144 great sounds created by Yamaha's expertise in instrument making. From world-class pianos to organs, guitars, strings, wind instruments, synthesizers and more, the PSR-F52 lets you enjoy all kinds of music. What's more, Yamaha knows not only how to make instruments sound great, but also how to make them easy to use. You can always easily browse through the vast selection of tones to find the one you're looking for." It's hilarous 😂
Yamaha designed the PSR-F52 specifically to be absurdely and totally limited. But indeed, the synthesis engine is not (such) a bad one, and it's capable of sounding quite good (considering the price, of course) and doing interesting things , as you can notice if you just listen to the demo song. The bad news is that in order to take advantage of this and being able to, for instance, control the cutoff and resonance of the filter, the envelope, the effects, modulation, portamento, panning and so on, you would need a midi interface, which is not implemented in this model.
Hilarious is expecting a $100 keyboard with one that costs 50 times more. Hilarious is not thinking about poor(er) people who still can get into music and keyboards thanks to these cheap products.
@@yeoldefoxeh254 I was not making fun of poor people. I was just saying that Yamaha's description of the keyboard on their website sells a dream. For 100 dollars it is impossible to find nice sounds, even if, as you say, it is good for poor people. And yes it's absurd to compare a PSR-F52 with a Genos but it's just for fun.
Genos is the best keyboard if you have ears and you want to make realistic, high quality music. F52 is the best keyboard if you want to be annoyed, Torture youself, make your ears bleed. Or you want to get a beginner to be discouraged.
To be fair, the F52 has some good points also. It's extremely light and portable (less than 3 kg), and the keybed is surprinsingly good for the price. Batteries last a lot. Compared with keyboards from other brands of a simmilar price, it stands quite well. For learning to play the piano, it's a no-go, though (as virtually all cheap keyboards). I have some fun times playing it at different places, with no cables and no hassle.
@@shad0wfax Yes, but in exchange for extremely low quality sounds. That is the most important aspect of any keyboard or instrument because it affects the music that you are trying to produce!
It's a really cool comparison video. It was great to be able to understand the characteristics of the two instruments.
Great comparison. The Genos certainly is better. About twice as good in some cases, and 50% better in others.

Just listen it with a good headphones, you hear the differences, night & day..
Absolutely! Differences are evident not only in sound realism, but also in the quality of the sound output (noise level, definition...)
PSR F52 not humiliated by its bigger brother. Thanks for highlighting this.
It would be very nice if you could include the titles of the songs played.
Why didn't you compare the piano sounds!!
I'm currently preparing another more in-depth video in which you'll be able to listen to piano sounds both from the PSR-F52 and the Genos :)
Good work David. Horses for courses, F52 acceptable for the price - ignore comparison with Genos.
Yes, the Genos costs about 50x the F52, like comparing a Nissan Micra with a Lamborghini.

@@shad0wfax Yes but it's still very funny that Yamaha makes a ridiculous PSR-F52 look like a Tyros with its descriptions

Terribly narrow-minded opinion. F52 is a great little synth for poor ppl.
