Friends, after reading the comments, I saw that many are outraged that I allegedly wasted my time and money.
Many people are pleased to just do things with their own hands, yes they may not be perfect, but they bring more emotions than purchased ones! So time has nothing to do with it and money too.

@@hand_craft you wouldn't happen to have any ideas on a DIY computer desk that requires minimal supplies, would you? When I say minimal, I mean that I do not have a welder.

I have been critical of dangerous DIY modifications of power tools, but this is a very safe and practical idea. It is well and skillfully constructed, and with such skill, you could turn your hand to many similar projects. I unfortunately don't have the skill or equipment to produce anything like this. But in watching these videos , while we may not copy the project, we often can get new ideas for projects we have in mind. One I want is a paint stirrer (not one which where you have to take the lid off and use a drill with a paddle). This is messy, especially with a full tin but one where we can gently shake or rotate the tin (with the lid on) before we are going to paint. I won't touch a mains power motor (from an old washing machine, etc) as to get it wrong, it can mean electric shock as our mains voltage is 250 volts. I have been electrocuted once before.. But I will use a 24-volt old lawn mower motor once I figure out how to do it. It would be great if when preparing to paint, to put the paint tin on a gentle mixer, leave it for 30 minuets or so while setting everything else up, come back to well mixed paint ready to apply.

I watched to follow your fabrication. Always looking for new ideas or techniques. Do not let the "outraged" discourage you. Sure it is easier & considering time it is more cost effective to buy, but they do not understand the satisfaction one gets from designing, building or just repairing an item. I wonder if the "hobbies" they have are a financial plus.

I love it when someone makes something from materials that are about to go in the dump, and turns it into something useful. It is easy to go to the hardware store and buy a wheelbarrow, but where is the fun in that? I applaud anyone who can recycle materials rather than send them to the landfill.
For those who say something negative I have a couple of questions. How would you make it better? If you have an idea to make a better version, why don't I see it on TH-cam?

  • @BobBob-eh5sb

It’s a unique idea. You were very skilled in the designing and building of it. It looks good and performs well. Now I do have a welder, and I am pretty good at various construction techniques, and will agree that it’s fulfilling to stand back and say, hey I built that. But, I would probably just buy one and use my skills for something that I need and can’t buy. Actually though, I have a two wheel cart that I pull behind my garden tractor that is my go to hauler, even though I also have a wheelbarrow. But still nice job, very well done and I hope it work’s great for your needs. It all comes down to the skill and creativity, not necessarily the project.

Building something just for the sake of building it can bring great satisfaction to the builder.
The first time using a tool or piece of equipment you have built is down right thrilling.
Yes part of it may be over built !
And part of it may be likely to fail.
But it is repairable, and that leads to another cellabration of accomplishment.
Imagine what Henry Ford would feel if he could see the progress of the Ford vehicles of today.
The value of an item is seen by the eyes of the viewer !
If you view everything with negativity, your life is going to be a stinky mass of crap !

    Who cares about negative comments.
People who make negative comments should read the writing of "Desiderata" and perhaps live their lives to reflect those writings.
The children enjoying getting a ride in the barrow makes it a worthwhile project that cancels out any Grinch like comments.
It is your time not theirs so let them be an ostrich with their head in the sand and if they take time to make a barrow they can transport the sand to bury their negative comment thought filled heads in.

@@hand_craft As a career long ( 49 years ) auto mechanic I fully understand the satisfaction of hands on . Unless you are somewhere that doesn't sell what you need , here in the U S even Walmart sells wheel barrows . And steel ones allow you to throw shit into them without worry of something busting through a plywood bottom . I would also have to add that from what we've seen of your well equipped shop you'd be crankin out things more useful than one wheel buggys .
