Cade Cunningham is NOT the problem with the Detroit Pistons

  • Cade Cunningham had a world of expectations on his shoulders ahead of this season. Coming back from injury, he was a frontrunner to win Most Improved Player and make his all-star debut - yet 20 games into this season, nobody has been worse than his Detroit Pistons, and few prominent players have been less efficient than Cade. But, is that really his fault? Or are circumstances working against him as he continues to show the star traits that made him so promising in the first place?

It's not his fault, but he is part of the problem. I have watched him play since his first game. Cade is not an NBA PG Period. He is too slow, and does not handle the ball well enough nor make smart decisions with it.
Cade OFTEN makes unforced turnovers. At least 2 per game where he literally just throws the ball away. Either he doesn't understand the play or he gets bottled up near the sideline and just tosses it into the stands.
He is also not a good shooter. The man is ranked near the bottom of THE ENTIRE LEAGUE in FG% and 3pt%.
He also doesn't rebound very well. Just barely making it to 4 per game. At his size and his position I would expect him to be near the top of rebounding guards.
Teams are leaving him open at 3 and crowding the paint for a reason. His main asset is a dribble drive and a pull up 15ft jumper. Those things he does well. The Pistons need to move him to SG and run him off of double screens all night long like they used to with RIP and if his shooting % doesn't jump drastically trade him.

classic overreaction to a player still very early in his development. You do realize he's only like 22 games into his second healthy season right? He's basically an early second year player in his development. And as the video clearly outlined, he's literally in the worst situation that a primary playmaker can be in the NBA lol. No shooters around him in the starting lineup other than stewart who is a low volume shooter and needs someone else to create for him. Then bojan came back a few games ago and what do ya know? FG is up turnovers are down. And he can play a little more off ball now because bojan is a reliable secondary creator. Does he need to work on his 3pt shot, finishing at the rim, passing skills and overall IQ for the game? Absolutely yes. Can he get maybe 2-3 healthy seasons to improve before the fans demand to trade him? Apparently he can't even get a full 2 seasons lol

Honestly Cade isn’t helping us late game Cade ball is why we are losing momentum and leads in the 4th quarter. Cade is definitely a big problem and is directly responsible for losing 5 games. If he simply could make shots, the Pistons would not be so horrific. Cade not only is the least efficient starting PG in the league, and almost of all top scorers, but when it really matters, that is when Cade is really really bad. His hero play at the end of games has been a zero. His shooting is getting better but is certainly far from being consistent enough to rely on. He should never run an offense, and the Coach has started taking him off ball, which is really helping. He also needs to play 15 minutes less per game. His basketball IQ is lacking.
