This story left me with questions.
At the beginning of the challenge, the instructor talked about teamwork. Then, the instructor and most of the cadets disappeared from the story until everyone was back at the Academy. What happened to them?
Why did they keep going through the storm? From the story, this was supposed to be an unusually severe storm. They should have sheltered in place until the storm quieted down.
Speaking of equipment, where were the gloves?
This is supposed to be taking place in a highly advanced space faring civilization. Why didn't each cadet have a personal, emergency beacon. When the emergency response team came to pick up Thrax, why didn"t they check over our human hero to ensure he was capable of continuing on?
I thought reaching the emergency beacon was the end goal. Why did our hero have to continue on?
I could go on, but I won't.
One of the core values of many of Earth's military members is: Don't leave anyone behind. The story does illustrate this.

Um no
