you can't imagine how much informative this is, I've been wanting to really get into synth patch-making but I couldn't find any video that would allow me to comprehend what dynamics matter more. you do this brilliantly, thank you

I know ROYGBIV is an insanely simple song but it appeals to me in a way most songs just don’t. That thing BoC was striving for, the feeing of being a child, is somehow captured in that track.
Easily a top 5 track of mine, all time.

Amazing video, subscribed. Just grabbed a Microkorg last week and love seeing how versatile it is. Somehow it’s just an absolute monster. Sounds better than anything else I’ve owned to my ear and I’ve owned a lot of synths. It just has a charm about it when used properly.

I loved all the Roygbiv videos and thank you for the information to recreate the best sound possible to the song. As a note, I ran the the bass into a MonoPoly, and something that helps it sound very very BoC bass is to lower the cutoff a bit more, and the bass will sound more fatter and crisper, and in that is the sweet spot. Thank you again and keep playing!! And send my salutations to the 🐈!

Thanks for watching Christian! Looking back at it, I definitely think the cutoff could be lowered more, so thanks for that note! Glad to see people are still passionate about this timeless sound.

I applaud your use of the flanger as a chorus. I used to use that at very low recycle frequency for the destructive interference for my guitar with my old Ross flanger, before it somehow cooked itself. I've never yet seen another hardware flanger that can go that low in the recycle rate, but if the micro-korg can then that's really cool. The best I've achieved is using U-he Colour Copy. Funny thing is that after I set the knobs right to get that shimmer for the low notes of an E chord, I could then play anywhere on the neck, and it sounded amazing!

Before playing this video, I made some guesses as to how this sound came together - and turns out my guesses were right, even the filter! It's a lot like the Stranger Things bass on the Juno 106 (60 ? ).
By the way, the old Roland keyboards have a secret regarding that sub oscillator square wave: It's out of phase with the other oscillators (especially the saw) by a specific amount and that's how you get that throaty James Hetfield buzz. Very few VST synths get this right. FL Studio Sytrus and TAL Noisemaker have phase settings and the trick works. By happy chance, the Microkorg also has the oscillators out of phase the right way.

Hey 👋🏻 great sounds you are getting from the Korg. I think I remember seeing an earlier vid you did complaining about the new iPhones having no 1/8 headphone jack. I ended up getting a little $2 adapter to be able to use it with the new phones.
    Keep up the awesomeness,
    Ben James
