This was a flat earth concept based on info at that time. Back then you were crazy to think of the earth as a sphere

@@Norad-i7h Odd. The round earthers tell us that people were seen as loons if they thought it was flat.

Is this map actually an honest representation from the 1500's?

They have actually put this map into a kmz file that can overlay on Google earth. From what I can tell it's fairly accurate it definitely is slightly skewed. The biggest issues I see are with the edge or bottom of the globe. It's very strange as one of the areas can clearly be Australia. This is where it gets fascinating to me, there is two other larger land masses depicted towards the bottom, one of these areas is where the south Georgia, and south sandwich islands, the other being Heard, McDonald's islands. I'll break these down into the two different areas. S.G, S.S. both have geological history to point that they were once larger mases part of the andies. Fossils have shown in these areas to have had more warm life. now to the Heard and Mc Donald's island. These are volcanic islands, the strange thing here is some of the grass found on this island is native to Europe and was on these islands upon their discovery. Fossils here also point towars it being warmer here in its pasts. So with him being able to depict the America's fairly accurately within 90 years of it being discovered. I think their is some good truth to the land masses on the edge. When compared to sea levels of this map date to current times I think it maybe safe to assume these landmasses were probably there at one point. Because if they got their info for these land masses 300 years before the map was made a lot has happened in 1000 years. I know this map also depicted some of the Asian areas unlike most western maps and was accurate. There is however many cities that appear to never have existed. Will we ever truely know probably not.
