A number of things we learn from this race. 1) These guys are going to continue to go out at 1.00hr pace for the first half, because one day, one of them will hold on and smash 2.00.00. 2) What Kenenisa Bekele did at the Valencia Marathon 2.04.19 to place 4th at the age of 40 was incredible. 3) Paris Marathon will be way more strategic and therefore never, ever right off Kipchoge and but expect it to be his swan song.

    • @JohnDoe-xk1dv
      @JohnDoe-xk1dv 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

It was WR pace fast yes, but compared to previous races where Kipchoge has done similar, not overtly so - I don't think so.
If it was hitting the wall, we'd have seen that later on in the race more, not at 20k.

Has Kipchoge started the inevitable decline? Difficult to say, but does put a question mark as to now if he is at the Kenenisa Bekele territory of tapering off from super quick times, to just quick ones.

Hey, guys whats your thought on this ??
...World Run Championship, which would showcase the global talent and excitement of running as a sport.
Similar to the Cricket World Cup and the FIFA World Cup for football, the World Run Championship would bring together nations from around the world to compete in various running events. This event aims to elevate the profile of running and provide a platform for athletes to showcase their skills on an international stage.
Here are some key details and comparisons to existing sporting events:
Format: The World Run Championship would feature a variety of running events, including sprints (100m, 200m), middle-distance (400m, 800m), long-distance (1 mile, 3k, 5k, 10k), and marathons. The competition would be structured similarly to existing World Cups, with group stages followed by knockout rounds leading to the final.
Global Participation: Like the Cricket and Football World Cups, the World Run Championship would be open to all nations, providing an opportunity for athletes from every corner of the globe to compete against each other.
Grand Opening Event: The World Run Championship could kick off with a marathon involving all participating countries, serving as a grand opening event to symbolize unity and the spirit of competition.
Broadcasting and Spectatorship: The event would be broadcasted globally, allowing fans from around the world to follow the action. Stadiums hosting the competitions would draw crowds of spectators, creating an electrifying atmosphere akin to other major sporting events.
Promotion of Running: By establishing the World Run Championship, we aim to promote the sport of running and inspire participation at all levels, from grassroots to elite athletes. The event would encourage a healthy and active lifestyle and serve as a platform for aspiring runners to pursue their passion.
I believe that the World Run Championship has the potential to become a flagship event in the world of sports, attracting widespread attention and excitement.

This strategy has been used on track and on the road. To break the leader, the only way is to go as fast as possible from the gun, hoping to break the leader. It used to happen a lot to Mo Farah, or Bekele, the opponents were pushing the pace hard from the beginning to have a chance to win.

I honestly think Kelvin Kiptum would have displaced Eliud Kipchoge in this era’s GOAT discussion if a) their careers had spanned more of the same years OR b) Kiptum had not died so young. As it stands, I find the channel host’s statement that Eliud is Absolutely the GOAT of mens marathon to be a bit much. I’m not a fanboy of either, it’s just that Kiptum proved his speed and endurance. The man was truly a beast.

Sure he hit the wall but I’d still not discount him at all for Paris. there are plenty of factors that can make or break the race of an (older) athlete when we‘re talking about maintaining the level of performance required to podium in the elite class. Even a nascent virus has the potential to turn anyone’s race into a disappointment on their terms. The guy turned in a 2:02:42 in Berlin less than six months ago… he ain’t done.

He ran 1 hour for the first half and the second half in 106 50. The first half tells us his legs still have youth. The second half of the Marathon tells us that he is a warrior. Conclusion, Eliud Kilchoge is warrior that has seen many battles, his body treads on, age does throw daggers at him at times, some wounds deeper than others. But the scars will heal, and once again the warrior is reborn, defying yet again what is possible. Nothing is impossible. Believe

Everything here with Kipchoge is exactly what I expected. I told you guys 2 years ago that elete athletes peak out at 38 years old. After 40, times fall off significantly! All of you know it alls, never responded when I told you this. Try to get the research that I’ve done for 25 years into your heads! DONT EXPECT GREAT THINGS OUT Of YOUR RUNNING HEROS AFTER 39!!

Sounds logical - also just a pattern of running times dropping over the years anyway. Seems like a lot of distances are being smashed - women's 5 000-10 000m, men and women marathons, half marathon. Seeing more men capable of hitting low 2 hour marathon, EK would've had more competition if he was now 34 anyway.

But as far as a new world record in this event no his career is nearing completion at this point. No one beats time he is slowing down.
