Love how you let all the kids participate. Sometimes it’s much easier and faster to just do it yourself. How are they going to learn if they don’t get that experience.

Yes, I agree hanging laundry is very therapeutic and makes me feel so earthy, I did not part with my dryer though. Mom of 8 here, some days I need easy. Beautiful family . God bless your family.

There's something so satisfying hanging laundry outside in the God's sunshine. Whenever I finish a quilt, it goes into the washier with vinegar and then out on the line. Besides looking so pretty flapping in the breeze, it smells like heaven when I bring it in. Then it gets donated to a child in the hospital or a special needs child. May God bless you and your family.

Your comment made me smile. I hope the joy your quilts bring to others comes back to you 10 fold.

Some of my favorite memories are of me and my 4 siblings gathered into a circle and shucking corn. My mom usually bought 100-200 ears every summer to freeze on and off the cob.

I don’t know if you’ve discovered this trick yet in taking kernels off the cob but this is what I do. Take your biggest bowl and turn a small bowl upside down in it. Take an ear of corn and stand it on the small bowl. Then with an electric knife, trim the kernels off the cob. It reduces the time in a major way. I can cut kernels off of a bushels worth of corn in about 10-15 minutes. Best wishes and happy canning!

Hanging laundry is better for the clothes than the electric dryer. I always wondered why my grandma clothes looked so good. Hand washed, soaked and hang dry.

Is your water you put in corn jars hot or cold??

Hi there. I just did my first batch of corn. My ‘book’ says to blanche the cobs before cutting off the kernels but I noticed you and someone else I watch just washed and cut kernels off. Do you know what the benefit is to blanche them? Just seems like an extra step - given the qty needed. TIA

I use an electric knife and a bunt pan !! Blanch corn then place on pan and let kernals fall into pan and then freeze

Hi so you don’t need to blanch the corn? If not do you need to boil the corn when you open the jar when ready to eat?

I tried to pressure can dried beans and when I opened a jar a few days later, they smelled awful! So that apparently was not a success. Hopefully when I can some corn, it'll work better.

Hi, I just put up my clothes line but my clothes seem to be rough. Any suggestions on how to fix this? I enjoy your videos very much.

They definitely dry stiffer without an electric dryer. Ironing helps. Drying outside in the wind helps too.

With 7 children how do you keep up with laundry when you hang dry? I'd love to do this, but with 6 children I feel like I'd never have it all done 😊

I have to do a minimum of two loads every day, rain or shine. If not I get backed up. If we do 2 it seems to keep everything moving along. On really sunny days I try to do as much as I can.

What pressure canner do you recommend for a newbie? I have a water bath canner but have never pressure canned.

It's a Pampered Chef corn tool. They are out of stock on Amazon, but if you went to the Pampered Chef site I bet they have them there.
