@Noxzor Isn't it lovely? I HIGHLY recommend this CD. This aria is actually the only one on the recording that had been previously recorded, so it's packed with a true treasure trove of unearthed Baroque gems. Simone Kermes and Le Musiche Nove really bring this music to life.
I know Im asking randomly but does anybody know a way to get back into an instagram account?? I stupidly forgot my account password. I appreciate any tricks you can give me.
@Marcelo Maxton thanks so much for your reply. I got to the site on google and I'm in the hacking process now. Seems to take a while so I will get back to you later with my results.
Just made a discovery! Didn't know this wonderful, sublime German singer :) Thank you Jeffrey - what a glorious gift this woman has.... and she really, really doesn't look German but I've just read about her - a true talent and a wild card in the best sense of the word....
Some Parts of this breathtaking "Cara Tomba" are remaining me of J.S.BACH's Fugue in c#-minor BWV849 (opening Cross Motif) and of his Aria "Wie zittern und wanken..." BWV105 (Cantata "Herr, gehe nicht ins Gericht..."). What a great music! And what a great Simone Kermes!
@pow309 I do recommend her Handel arias CD. I like that it focuses on repertoire composed for the singer Cuzzoni, who was clearly a very versatile and skilled singer who inspired some of Handel's greatest arias.
The goings-on in this ancient royal courts, that of the Pontic kings, whose tombs can be seen in the cliffs behind the now Turkish city of Amasya, would shock people nowadays -murders of rival brothers and sisters by poisoning in order to gain the throne, blood and violence of every kind culminating in the reign of Mithradates the Great who made himself immune to every poison by taking little bits at a time and thus survived the machinations of his brothers and sisters to become the mortal enemy of the expanding Roman republic only to be defeated in the end. Also the subject of an early opera by Mozart. His son was called Pharnaces who is the subject of an opera by Vivaldi(amongst others) Pharnaces was defeated by Julius Caesar at the battle of Zela after which he declared"I came I saw I conquered."
Kermes brings so much excitement, intensity, and joy to her performances. Her "Lava"cd is a force of nature. As a "Fandel" can you recommend her Handel "Diva" disc? I would love to hear her as Cleopatra.
There was a great version of the Salve Regina of Pergolesi in TH-cam. Unfortunately it disappeared suddenly. And I don’t know who was the singer and the orchestra. I thought may be it was in your videos and you deleted it?
I only have Pergolesi’s Salve Regina in f minor sung by David Daniels on my channel. (He originally wrote it in c minor for soprano, but soon transposed it for alto). There’s also a different setting of the text in a minor.
Sublime interprétation 🎶🙏🎶

And what a great Simone Kermes!
Hmm, the beginning reminded me much more of Pergolesi's 'Salve Regina in C minor' than the pieces you mentioned.
Lovely. Beauty. Perfect. Thanks

@reflechant No, I really meant Pergolesi's Salve Regina in C minor, which is very beautiful but much less famous than the Stabat Mater.
There was a great version of the Salve Regina of Pergolesi in TH-cam. Unfortunately it disappeared suddenly. And I don’t know who was the singer and the orchestra. I thought may be it was in your videos and you deleted it?

Que mas se puede decir?
what key is this in?

@jdstivers I also adore the first aria "Il mar de le mie pene" It is now the one I practice with in the mornings before going to work. :-)
Lovely! So this is where Pergolesi stole the beginning of his "Salve Regina" from...
