I wish Best Buy would offer this as a service. This is WAY too involved if you don't have a working camcorder anymore or a VHS player. These items are not that common anymore. I had a VHS player and converter for my camcorder tapes, none of that works anymore.
This is designed to save you hundreds of dollars on conversion fees. I was paying $50 per tape until I purchased this product and it is very simple to use. I just happened to own 4 working VHS machines and they are still easy to get used. Walmart does conversions.
@600miles please where can I get vhs players that are affordable? My mum used to act films and I just found one of her movies in a cassette form. Was thinking of surprising her with the digital version. Amazon lists players at 200+ usd. But I can't afford that. Any cheaper options?
This tool will work with Hi8 and VHS-C. The quality should be similar to that you'd see if the camera was connected to your TV via composite cables. Keep in mind that the default resolution of Hi8 is still only 720 x 480, so there will be upscaling on most modern displays.
Audio sync issues are usually caused by video frames being dropped by the camera. In these cases, editing the video to resync portions of the audio is necessary. This isn't limited to a single piece of digitizing software.

I have problem. I have exactly the same camera. It’s not showing good video in my computer.. I have another digital video handycam and showing good quality video.. why it’s like that? Thanks for the advise
Having tried all the USB capture devices on the market (in this price range) I can safely say that the ROXIO is one of the worst I have ever seen. It was so bad that I bought two more in case the first one was defective. No luck. The next two were just as bad. I returned all three units. Just a terrible product!

Will this work for Hi8 videos? If i use the analog process will I lose quality from the 'digital' tape?
