Generic "cheap" clutches will usually do the job and are a good value for the price. Max-Torque clutches have more consistent build quality, superior stainless steel spring material that will handle more consistant heat and give more consistant shoe pressure than your generic clutches, better adjustability, and an exclusive microfinish bushing for less friction and longer life . IMO The Max-Torque is definitely worth the extra money if in the budget.
Lol that ad was hilarious 😂 hey sometimes u gotta show those big spenders how to get down the road for less💪🏼💯💨💨💨💨 I have a 14tooth max torque with at least 50k miles on it easy lol😅
I believe i bought the same one and when i put it on it made that same chattering sound and seamed to have alot of slop between parts rode it about a 1/4 mile and turned around and sent it back to Amazon
I wasnt looking for this video but im glad it was made, have you made a comparison with a old clutch that wiggles and a new one? I heard that if it had play you should throw it away
Great video i really enjoyed! Just curious what is best to lube a max torque clutch? Ive heard 30 weight oil, white lithium grease, 3 in 1, etc but what is best?
Ive seen a couple tractor supply co clutches do that back in the day. Never had a cheaper one do it since. I wish i could afford genuine max torque clutches every time
I got one of those cheap clutches on my bike from Amazon and to be honest I don’t have a lot of power into my motor just a basic 212 with flywheel and Governor removed. Mine seems to be holding up no problem on a lot of rides but it does chatter and make a lot of noise, maybe I should upgrade to a max torque soon
Great video. It sounds like you just got a bad clutch this time. I have an unrelated question. What size and manufacturer is the rear tire on your GTS frame?
you should do a hybrid mini bike, any straightchained gas motor + a kunray 5000w 72v motor geared low for acceleration, you would have to mount the motor on the rear storage rack if you have one
Finding an affordable clutch that would handle my Vtwin engine and sprocket ratios that allow a cruising speed of 60-65 mph with RPM that is reasonable for sustained running (10-20 miles at a time) waa impossible. I built my own clutch that worked for about a year and a half (2k or more miles) but I decided to try another commecially available clutch that cost $46 because several people said they were having good luck with it in high hp high load situations. So far I'm not impressed. It's chattering really bad during easy acceleration and it slips until about 45 mph under hard acceleration. I'm going to try adding some weight to the three sliding shoes (its a little different than the cheap 3 shoe clutches with the single long spring) and see if that helps.
Can you do a video about maximise performance out of a stock 212 carb? Boring, drilling etc. And the difrence in acceleration + topspeed. Very curious!
What kind of throttle controls are you using on your bikes with the larger carbs. My pwk 28 mm isn’t getting full throttle stroke of the slide because the twist and thumb throttles do not have long enough stroke to open the carb fully
i have a question. recently i pulled the plug on an oryxearth 105cc mini bike from amazon. is using 10w30 sae valvoline high mileage, full synthetic oil fine for the first ride? please respond as soon as possible, thanks.
I had bought the same clutch and got the same exact problem I figured out that it was a different size chain even tho it looks like a 35 but that one is a 219 chain
I don't understand the hate with these I got a 18 dollar 1 inch clutch thats worked fine for months on a built engine and I don't know where the in between is between the cheapest and the bully 3 disc 200 dollar clutches and mu gear is a 14 in the front and 60 in the back it used to be 50
@@mostlyinept the thing I've heard is that they stretch chains which I don't think I'd experience as I always let my chains have a little room to tense up at high speeds but not so loose that they'd jump off
Like I said at 1:05 to 1:26 in the video, I have used an 18 tooth Max-torque with an even higher gear ratio for two years now on multiple bikes with zero issues! This is the first clutch I have smoked on the channel Over all I have had more minor issues with the cheap clutches.

I've had that chatter with a worn out bushing. Chatter would shear the keyway and cause slip on the crank.. Never seen a clutch eat teeth lol
that ending was sad for someone that just ordered generic clutch waiting for it to come in mail 😅
Most of the generic clutches on the channel work great! This one had a defect .
Great video i really enjoyed! Just curious what is best to lube a max torque clutch? Ive heard 30 weight oil, white lithium grease, 3 in 1, etc but what is best?
Awesome, thank you.

Some of those cheap clutch ships with oil on it to prevent rust. I always clean the clutch before its first use.
Amazon FDJ Brand clutches are real good compared to Max Torque. My only go to clutch thats inexpensive 💯

Great informative video! 🤘
nice videos you pruduce thanks for your videos about mini bikes
I’ve had an Amazon clutch like that on my 212 predator for a few years no problem like what you have mine not built though
Can you do a video about maximise performance out of a stock 212 carb? Boring, drilling etc. And the difrence in acceleration + topspeed. Very curious!
Those clutch bushing need oil when new
I have a 24.00 bravex clutch and 30+mile rides no problems
Yes, like I said in the video. I have had many inexpensive clutches work great myself. I think this one happened to be defective.
@@Black66when it started slipping and you gave it revs it sounded like you had false neutral on that bike.

Was it the chattering noise I heard or was that the chain from vibration? Maybe the drum might be out of round?
That definitely was defective. Not tempered.
Yes, for sure!
Maybe the clutch would work well on a stock application, and if know black66 there’s nothing stock on his fleet 😂.
What is the best four stroke oil you can buy
Wow a great test for a clone! Probably rated at 5hp max. I'd like to see the insides after that ride. Tore that up quick.
Good day sir, am in process of building a doodle bug, and am wondering what i should go with for max tourqe , not looking for speed, juggernaut?
Can hear the torque trying to over power the clutch for sure 👍... heard it going out your driveway
Could be the ratio as well 😏 sounds great 👍
Like I said in the video, the max torque has lasted a few years with the same ratio. I think this one just happened to be defective.
@@Black66 Makes sense to be a factory 🏭 defect 👍enjoy your channel and insight
Unrelated to this video.... On a Predator 212, do you have to permanently remove the stock gas tank when installing a Mikuni carb?
No
Is a 1:1 ratio mini bike possible
i have a question. recently i pulled the plug on an oryxearth 105cc mini bike from amazon. is using 10w30 sae valvoline high mileage, full synthetic oil fine for the first ride? please respond as soon as possible, thanks.
Pretty bike 🤠
is that a steering dampener??? does it even go fast enough for it to work?
I had bought the same clutch and got the same exact problem I figured out that it was a different size chain even tho it looks like a 35 but that one is a 219 chain
Well this made me rewatch the video it looks like a kinked up damaged chain and misaligned sprockets to me and not a clutch problem but what do i know
The chain was a quality RLV chain, fairly new at the beginning of the video. I think the heat from the clutch slipping cooked the chain.
Ive owned a few of these cheap clutches and the one thing i always notice is that they need to be oiled first if not they dont run right
Statement retracted... definitely a defective clutch 😬😬
Defective, not defective , who cares as long as we are having fun with mini bikes.

I've got a super cheap Amazon clutch as well on my mild built Predator 212 and it's lasted like 4 years so far
@@mostlyinept the thing I've heard is that they stretch chains which I don't think I'd experience as I always let my chains have a little room to tense up at high speeds but not so loose that they'd jump off

@@Black66 yep I know you meant no harm I mean others in the minibike community give these clutches alot of heat for no real reason
@@Black66 I was thinking the same thing. I've always used cheap clutches but you must have got a dud lol
what do you use for the top speed and 0-30?
I use digiHUD on the phone for top speed and a Dragy performance meter for 0 to 30
@Black66 ok thank you
cheap clutches work fine when you have proper gearing for them. you will smoke any clutch eventually with a 3.3 gearing trying to go 70mph

Slip it till it friction welds to get home
YUP!!!
I think you have a bad clutch
