I've been apprehensive to read Cujo, but I'm so glad to have listened to your commentary and know he was portrayed as a good boy at heart... even if that makes the book potentially harder to read. ❤🐶 Loved hearing the parallels you were able to make in this. Great video as always!
Just hearing you talk about Cujo made me cry all over again the end of that book fucked me up. I sobbed for probably 5 minutes+ sad for Cujo but as a mom I was distraught over Tad. Absolute pit of my stomach sadness
Christine is one of my favourite films of all time, to the point it's become a comfort watch. I don't think I could ever bring myself to read Cujo though.
Absolutely loving these! And I need to read Cujo, though I guess in the movie he is a Rottweiler, so I was oddly surprised to hear in the book he’s a Saint Bernard. Hmm, maybe I’ll do a Cujo, Pet Semetary back to back thing
@@wiktoriagrochola3256 Oh! I haven't seen it, my wife just insisted it was a Rottweiler because we have them and she didn't want to watch it for the ending
I have never heard of Roadwork before and my first thought when you mentioned a highway being built through this guys house was Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy ... and now I don't think I'll ever be able to read it and take it seriously. 😂
The Running Man movie is bonkers! I think its quite different from the book, but I haven't watched it in a while. I hope you enjoy the next set of books a bit more. The Eyes of the Dragon was the first Stephen King book I read. It's quite fairy tale like. I believe he wrote it for his children as they wanted to read something of his , but everything he'd written up till then was too scary!
I am so intrigued by Eyes of the Dragon, I’m very open to different styles from King even if I gravitate more towards horror, I think it will be a fun time
@@GavinReadsItAll Eyes of the Dragon is possibly my favorite of King's. It's very King, even if it's not a strict horror story, and has a lot of his particular stylistic and writing choices, both good and bad. I feel like it's also the springboard from which we got the Dark Tower series. There are so many parts of it that seem to call forward to the stories of the Gunslinger and his world.
I've named every one of my car and I realized when you memtioned that most people refer to she that, I've had an even split of boy and girl names for car. My current car is Winton, named after the Bluey character.
'Thinner' actually started as a Bachman book. It was the book where fans connected the dots and realized Bachman and King were the same person. So you're done with that book but not with Bachman.
We have our own versions of game shows here and we have our own British presenters so when a game show comes from overseas, we just film our own version, but I'll have to check out Richard Dawson
I absolutely enjoy christine both the book and movie and yes john carpenter did directed the film he was also supposed to direct the firestarter starring drew Barrymore unfortunately he was replaced
Need to watch Firestarter too but might do a binge series watching all the King adaptations at some point but so glad you enjoy Christine the movie so much too
Hi! , I've read a lot of Stephen King 👑 since elementary school I think my most favorite is " The Shining & IT. I'm currently reading his new book. And Some Robert R. McCammon since I want more horror 📚😊
I watched the movie adaptation of cujo when i was a child i had a fear of big dogs i can't read the book due to the fact im a dog lover and i use to have dogs sadly all three have passed away
Cujo is the only horror movie I cannot watch in one sitting. It also gave me nightmares. I think it is because it is something that could really happen. A dog gets rabids and tries to kill someone.
I have to say that I felt completely and utterly depressed the whole time I read Cujo and a few days after. I don’t know if that makes the book good or bad.I guess good in a sense that it managed to affect me so much, but I know for sure that I would never want to read it again, although it still sits on my shelf.

You are correct. Humans have preventatives and immunoglobulins, but if you wait until symptoms appear you’re just as doomed as Cujo. It’s pretty much 100% fatal for all (and the only way to diagnose and animal is testing brain tissue so suspected animals are almost always euthanized).
oh gosh I didn't actually know that, that's even more tragic that genuinely nothing could have been done for Cujo from the moment he got his nose stuck in that hole 😢
I seriously don't understand why people like Stephen King's writing. The weird bits you pointed out during Cujo occur in every one of his books I've read. Maybe other people are better at ignoring it? haha
Can I just say how much I appreciate your Christine-themed Christmas jumper 😂😂 EPIC
Gavin really does know the true meaning of Christmas. Also, the checklist is fierce 🔥
Christmas = horror of course 😂

The only thing better than your book reviews are all your cozy jumpers ❤
The best thing about Winter is when I can get the cozy jumpers out

Cujo AND Pet Sematary back to back?? You’re asking for trauma haha

He’s definitely a Saint Bernard in the 1983 movie (I was traumatised by that movie as kid 😂).

"Cujo's this big St. Bernard, he's 5 years old. He wouldn't hurt a fly, that's what we're told."
that's right from a Dr. Suess book 😂🧡
😂😂
King has said in interviews that he was so strung out that he doesn't even remember writing Cujo.
And the fact I could still see so much literary merit in Cujo speaks volumes of his writing honestly
Misery (1987) is a psychological horror that scared me! Maybe it can be on your next Steven King TBR list
I've already read that one, and I am doing Stephen King in publication order so I'll be re-reading that in episode 5

Honestly Cujo hits me harder than any other book. The parts we get in Cujo's head just make it so much worse. Really well told, but man it hits hard.
Agree, I'll never get over it
Cujo has never worked for me and I'm kind of bummed out by that because it contains a beautiful dedication to his brother.
Also: Castle Rock is one of the main places in the King multiverse. Castle Rock and Derry, which you’ll get REAL familiar with Derry soon enough 😂😂

Fun fact for you Gav: The Running Man starred Richard Dawson, the late comedian known for Match Game and Family Feud (did those air in the UK?).
