    Great video brother and next time we will do it together. !!! I agree I’m not wanting it to be a motor company event, but feel they could have shared the info on social as they do so many other events throughout the year. Non the less I agree, we can do it with the people alone. Talk to you soon.

      Did anyone ask HD if they would get involved? Did they say no?

    • @adamsandoval
      @adamsandoval 6 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      Mark Gman Yes I had several meetings with corporate about it and they agreed to support it with some social sharing. Just ended up dropping the ball. Not that it would have made us much better. Just disappointed

      John Maxwell for sure brother. We got this.

    • @markgman4157

      Adam, thanks for the response. It is too bad that corporate didn't get involved on even a minimal level like social sharing. Seems like a missed opportunity for them. Sounds like HD has a lot to manage with the tough motorcycle market, reorganization, tariffs and new lines. Like you said, probably didn't make much difference in the outcome. Maybe next time. BUT, now you have a second chance to donate even more money to vets.

    Great video once again John. Your videos have been a godsend for me. I have a knee that went bad on me and haven't been able to ride since May. Just had it fully replaced 3 weeks ago. Your videos have helped me get through this time when I can't ride the two Harleys that are sitting in my garage right now. Keep up the great work! Much appreciated brother.

    My wife and I rode from Arizona, 1100 miles. We decided last minute to go and left Mesa, AZ on Thursday afternoon. We were very disappointed that we weren't a part of the record. but we real had a great time. I am looking forward to the next attempt. Yes there was some confusion on where we need to be at the dealership and yes it was hot, but for the most part everybody did a good job at the Paris HD. We meet some real cool people and made a few new friends. I think next time we will be in the record book. I did get to meet you at the casino but you were pretty busy so I only said hi. My wife was able to get her picture with Adam, so she was happy. Great job on the video's.

Without knowing it you had the # of the best F-16 squadron in the USAF. The 522nd FS Fireballs! Lol! Didn’t make it this year but will do my best to make it next year when we will Bring It Home!

    John, I completely agree with keeping the company out of it. However I wish more dealerships would have helped spread the word. At that, I really HATE that some knuckle head on a Honda or whatever broke line instead of waiting and riding in the rear which was pretty clear to me long before the event. I enjoyed meeting you at the casino,( I know you don't remember), and just all the camaraderie that was going on. I met some great guys from KC where I was staying in Hugo and will never forget it. Next time we will break the record. I would be more than proud to ride with you to wherever the event will take place since I am only a few miles to north of you. Well, ok more than a few miles but Huntsville isn't that far for real. Well, actually not Huntsville but if I say Ryan you may spend to much time trying to find it....oh wait! Google knows everything! Great video John.

    Hello John. I was there and was part of the parade. I had every intention of meeting you and Adam Sandoval. Man to be honest I was hot tired and on the verge of being cranky. I brought a huge group with me and none of them are willing to try that again. The over heating of the riders and the pricey motorcycles was too much for them. As far as I know they all made it to the casino. The group was broken up as Harley-Davidson’s overheated and legs were burning. Good luck next time I am sure I will not be able to rally the troops next time.

      @sboy1955 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Unfortunately a lot of riders feel the exact same way. The only way to do this is to have a lot of check in points, where HDs can gather without the super long lines and wait times, then converge those into a single non-stop parade. Not sure Guinness would allow that or how they could verify the numbers in a process like that?

    Great video John. I think perhaps Adam Sandoval, for one, and how he shows this huge amount of respect, that is why everyone was showing respect to all the others and the fact no trash was left behind. It's a lot to put on one person, but he has the attitude that flows through and folks like that spawn others to be like that.
    I'd hope to be at the next one in respect and honor for my Pop and wear his wings while doing it.

    Personally I had a great time an a hell of an experience. I left South Central Florida on Tuesday, rode 680 miles and camped behind a truck stop in New Augusta,MS. On Wednesday I rode in to (Blossom, TX) Paris and visited the grave of my first wife, then up to Moyers, OK to set up camp. Thursday I got a service on my bike at Paris H-D, went for a ride, then hung around K-River Campground. Friday I rode to Normand, OK to see my daughter and grand kids. Saturday I rode in the Bring it Back Parade, spent time at the Choctaw Casino then enjoyed the band and shared stories at K-River. Sunday I left K-River and rode to (Ferriday, LA) near Natches, MS and stayed at a cheep $45 motel to get out of the downpour I was riding in. Monday, I rode Liberty, MS and visited the grave of comedian Jerry Clower then rode down and crossed the Pontchtrain bridge (26 mile bridge) and stoped in New Orleans, LA for lunch on Bourbon street., continued on to Freeport, FL in the panhandle and spent the night with family. Tuesday I completed my last 442 miles home to Wachula, FL. Odometer total for the week 3,162.9.
    All in all, I had a blast! I damn sure will do it again and plan another adventure for my trip there (or wherever) and back.

I couldn't get it in neutral after a while. It was still a great time & I'll definately be at the next one. We met alot of cool people out there. GREAT,GREAT, time unbelievable amount of fun and the people were fantastic and all incredibly nice. I understand your thought about the motor company. I think then maybe Pairs HD should contact the individual dealers and ask them to put up a poster just to get the word out even more. WE DID NOT FAIL to many positives to say we failed. Rubber side down and let the miles roll on.

    I thought when watching your vlog that there would be overheating issues, it's a lot to expect the guts to just idle in the boiling heat. All considered, that's pretty positive. The 'Harley Only' rule was clear from the beginning. That ain't Adams fault. And it ain't on Paris Harley. It's on the brain numb people who didn't read the details.
    Also, many of us showed up on Friday to preregister as detailed, but could not. This was on Guinness. Word was Guinness stipulated this at the last minute. That's a problem.
    Now EVERYONE had to show up Saturday and stand in line...in 90+ degree heat, to get their wristband and sticker. We lost quite a few people there.
    ( My whining about this was quickly stifled stumbling into the very cold keg of FREE beer and food. )
    This can be done with minor changes. 1- More time to promote and organize. 2- Larger venue. I thought the Choctaw area had better space.
    Great video showing how it all went down.

    I was part of the mob on the other side of the road took 2 hours to go 2 miles from where I was at. There were easily a hundred and maybe hundreds of bikes that just stopped in those school parking lots because of overheated bikes, overheated drivers, clutch hand cramps, or people that were just tired of a line barely moving that snaked through the entire School complex, back down that road all the way to the highway. Dealing with that is going to be a big challenge if they drive the same route. I think the only time I got above 5 miles an hour was on the short stretch of highway from the dealership to the exit. I intended to go to the casino but by the time I made it out of the exit gate I was D-U-N done.

    Thank you for the detailed information/explanation. Knowing that a Non HD bike within the Group ended the count may have been good information for some. when the guy on the microphone said all non HD had a different staging area and could not be mingled in I think it was too clouded for them to move. Maybe it was said more than to one time I heard it.

  • @minigpracing3068
    @minigpracing3068 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    Would it help to paint registration numbers on the pavement so that everyone knows where to park? This would also be the staging order of who leaves first and who leaves last. Don't know, might help.

    Awesome video like always brother👍🏼 So I can't even comprehend how a non Harley-Davidson motorcycle would show up to a Harley-Davidson only event!!! I am not knocking other motorcycle brands as I am a "motorcyclist" I like all bikes but c'mon people it just comes down to plain ol' common fricking sense. The next attempt I am personally going to volunteer my time to be part of the registration process or work the entrance to the parking or the departure of the parking and will absolutely not allow a brand other than Harley-Davidson to enter the parade, I know a lot of it had to do with being on the road and getting cut off or a bike jumping in then and that will be up to road patrol (which needs to be a part of the parade to block any other vehicles from interjecting in the parade). Everybody did an exceptional job with the parade and we will just take it as a learning experience. I will get ahold of Cody or Adam and offer my time and assistance to help make sure that doesn't happen again. Many thanks to Adam and the crew of Paris Harley-Davidson and everybody involved. And special thanks to my US military and all the men and women who served past present and future 🇺🇸 The record will be brought home soon!!!

    buy a couple of bottles of water the night before keep them in the fridge of your room(freeze one if you can) then they are ready for the next day.
    I also bought a hydro flask water bottle it keeps drinks and ice cold for hours and thats sitting outside in the water bottle pocket of my backpack.
    also LOL look in the motor clothes section for the insulated lunch tote cooler (451-00) I got one for myself (I got a gift certificate)its insulated to keeps drinks cool for awhile the top compartment will hold a bottle of water and it has a mesh pocket to hold one of the blue ice block things and it takes up little space in the top case or saddle bag. its handy to have cold drinks plus some snacks along for the ride.
    I live in the Southern California desert area so yeah I know about being hydrated and watching for the warning signs. Truthfully I don't always adhere to them I do like a cup of cold coffee or a soda now and then in hot weather it just tastes good. I'm not paid by HD for this LOL but If the product works, it works.
    Enjoyed the video.
    BTW in response to the comments down there 👇 I agree with a lot of you.
    Harley-Davidson IMO is at a crossroads its current customers and fans some are getting older and the motorcycles are getting more expensive But I do see younger people on Harleys so thats good. another factor motorcycle sales are down overall but Indian seem to be doing okay. Some people are using other means of transportation car pooling., Ride share and rental scooters and bicycles, IF I lived in a major city I would use it in fact on rainy and cold days and days my 'ol beat up body doesn't agree with my wanting to ride I'll use Uber or Lyft to take me to work and gigs.
    I also moved to a smaller motorcycle years ago, I went from big twins to a 883 Sportster and I don't miss it, in fact I'm looking at getting a Yamaha MT-07 as a second bike. (I like my Sportster just the way it is paid for).
    Humans and most Harleys are air cooled we don't like to stay in one place being hot we like to be moving.

    Update. On Oct. 5th, 2019 Adam Sandoval and Paris Harley Davidson (Paris Texas) did break the record. The old record was 2404 Harleys. The new record 3497. Nice job guys.

    John Maxwell i have a question i hope you can answer me.
    I will buy my first HD a 2002 Dyna low rider next week, i am bit worried about the parts availability for older models, i want to try the old school carb HD, but do you think in more 10 years i can find parts to mantain my HD running?
    Best regards.

    • @dougfresh1341
      @dougfresh1341 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      IDK what JM will say. But I just bought an 03 Glide. You won't have to worry. Hell, they are still rebuilding, customizing and riding HD's from the 40's thru the 90's.
      That's got a simple carb on it also. When it pukes for the final time, get an S&S.
      Now the TC88 motors had a couple issues. Not badly. And I've suggested that JM address those motor issues and what modifications are really necessary to keep them running and reliable.
      Good Luck! You started at the right place.

      @@dougfresh1341 i just changed the cams with s&s 510G that is the main problem i heard. Do you know other problems? Best regards.

    • @dougfresh1341
      @dougfresh1341 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Well, there's a lot of talk about crank 'run-out'. That Harley pressed these cranks. True. But a lot of motors other than Harley use pressed cranks. From what I've experienced and read, the crank will be fine as long as you don't throw a bunch of HP and torque into the engine. It's akin to beefing up a car engine and leaving the rear end stock. What happens?? Yeh, you shell the spider gears in the rear-end...ask me how I know. Course, the next rear-end, I took the cheap way out and welded the spider gears. Yeh, that wasn't an Einstein move either.
      Mostly, the real problem with the TC88 are the cam chain tensioners. they were made too small and many out of the wrong material. So when these bikes got 20-30k miles...some say less, the tensioner surface would decay, going into the motor. The surface would pit.
      The answer was to replace the tensioners with the upgraded ones or replace the surface material.
      See one here: twincamtensioner.com/
      Some say the spring tensioners were a weakness and convert to hydraulic tensioners. Which requires you to change the cam plate.
      Conclusion, if you're not going to build the motor over 95cc and take it to the drag strip, changing the tensioner shoes is enough. Keep good oil, not HD Syn3, in it. And change it on schedule. Open up the cam chest and inspect the shoes every 25k or so.
      Read and research. Keep it maintained and ready for the next World Record attempt with the rest of us.
      Good luck!

      I follow Adam's channel and he did mention several times about the bike having to be a Harley to be counted but the fact if someone drops out for one reason/another or have to be on camera when leaving the dealership.... etc. Just seems like theses stipulations should have been announced. Unless I just missed that part, 'cause I am considered by some to be 'SLOW'. Also did you mean 'I WON'T buy a Harley' or 'I want TO buy a Harley', in your reply to me? Because if you said WON'T buy a Harley, you probably can't afford one. I know because I've been there. And if you said 'I want to buy a Harley', don't do it, cause you will then be considered 'slow'. Lol

    • @cavtj1
      @cavtj1 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Okay Mr. Wesley. Hope you didn't take offense to what I said about not being able to afford one. I sincerely felt angst 'cause they were so pricey. But when I finally got one, those feelings went away real quick. Harley has it's faults but then so do I. I love my 2007 Ultra Classic and my 2012 Street Glide and would love to have a 2019 Road Glide. I like the new Indians too.
