If you have been crocheting for a while then you will probably have lots of scrap yarn about the house Here is a great project to make to keep it all in the one spot ! Crochet Basket Stash - Buster Part 1 of 2 #crochet #crochetbag #bobwilson123
hello bob i can't forget your voice and your hands when i started the crochet at first time i learnt of your tutorials that is very helped me i really appreciate you
I have to say this...I've watched so many basket tutorials, and I'm not one to give up. Your video made me the PERFECT basket!!! No others explain anything like you do. And you show it all, very very clearly. And, yes, bobby pins are my friend. Most tutorials say to use a stitch marker but dont show where to put it EXACTLY, you dont miss a thing. I thank you so very much. I tried numerous times to make a basket, numerous tutorials. I CAN DO IT. Yeah! :-)
Hi Julie ! Thank you so much for your wonderful comment and I am so glad that my videos are clear and easy to understand. Many hours go into each one and your feedback makes it all worth it ! Thanks again, Happy crochet to you
HI Nicole ! Thank you so much for your great feedback and I am so glad that you love crochet and my videos THank you for watching my tutorials and you are very welcome :)
Definitely needed a stash buster, house is getting cluttered with all my craft supplies. This allows me to use up some yarn and create organization, double yeah!
Thank you! I have only been crocheting 4 months and I am so happy to have you teach me how to make pretty things. I just finished making this bag/basket, just posted a pic on your face book page. Thanks again!
Hey Clare, I just wanted to say Hi and that I'm a big fan. When I started crocheting, I could barely make a square and only knew two stitches. But I found your channel and have been going along with your tutorials and my crocheting has vastly improved. I've made a few of your projects and they turned out well I think and I just wanted to say thank you so much for all the help you've given me! Have a great day :)
I started crocheting bout 2 weeks ago using your website and I luv it! it relaxes me and it keeps me occupied while my kids are at school except when my baby wakes up lol but I started making her beanies with ears n she luvs them even tho she really doesn't wear them but she thinks they are cute.
You are so amazing. Thanks for taking time out to make tutorials. I began crocheting a few months ago as a means to handle my stress and anxiety and it has really helped and now I am making things and even selling some stuff to friends. And now I am going to try to make this bag :D thanks so much again!!
hello bob i was beginner in crochet i followed all your tutorials that is make me better i gratefull you thanks please just add written in videos that i need
I really like this style basket/bag and I love how you go slow so we can see where you are putting your hook. I gotta say out of all of the tutorial channels on youtube I really like yours the most. all the other videos the teacher goes way to fast for me. so thank you for what you do! Ive made 2 of your projects so far. this will be my 3rd. you are awesome!!!!!!
this video is the single best video that taught me how to crochet a bag. your instructions were very clear, it's very easy to follow i could see every detail. thank you so much for this!
HI, Yes sure you can :) I would use a smaller hook than recommended by your yarn ball if you want your stiches tight, this will also help stop the stretching thank you for watching , Clare
I used super saver heather grey and turqua. My slip stitch border was messy and I realized it it was because of the way I was joining a different color. Live and learn :-)
Thank you so much for the great pattern. I am new to crochet, and found this super easy. I used Lion Brand Thick yarn (in a dark brown with pink trim) so only used one strand. Also, I did 100 chain on handles. It came out great. It is now my WIP tote.
I’m always looking for patterns for bags or baskets to keep all my yarn in. Thanks for the tutorial. Your tutorials are so easy to follow and you explain everything very clearly. I love all your tutorials. Also, I’ve been seeing videos about Australia needing pouches and stuff for the Koalas and Kangaroos that were affected by the fires in Australia. What I’m wondering is if you happen to have a pattern for something like that. Sending prayers for everyone affected by the fires, stay safe.
G'day Johna Stokes thank you so much for watching my video, happy crochet! I have seen many posts about the wildlife charities having too many donations, might be a good idea to check with the charity you are sending to to make sure they are accepting them You can use this hat video and make them to the size needed th-cam.com/video/LMaE14os0fc/w-d-xo.html Here is a crochet nest pattern that can be made in various sizes, make the sides twice the length of the base width th-cam.com/video/MT7xTZ-ukYE/w-d-xo.html
hola maestra soy de Chile me gusta mucho su trabajo gracias por compartir sus maravillosos tejidos un abrazo grande lleno de bendiciones para su vida besos 😘 Chile la saluda gracias
the video did good for me until about 19 minutes into it and then wouldn't work anymore for some reason. I'm hoping it does. looking very forward to making this basket!
bobwilson123 Yes I did reload and it worked great! probably something on you tubes end or something. But I love this bag/basket! I made one for shopping and I pretty much loaded it down and it holdup wonderfully! Thank you so much for this tutorial!
i really wish you had a written pattern for this.i love making the basket but wish i had it on paper. do you know when you will have that for us to have??
Thank you very much for this beautiful pattern :-) 🥰 Now for a little constructive criticism (please forgive me as I cannot help it lol)... if you change three and join at the very beginning instead of turning four, you will have a smaller hole. It is almost undetectable.
Hello I just started crocheting and my bag is coming out good , is it ok if my circle curves up just a bit ... When I lay it flat the ends of it stick up in the air but nothing major
Yes you can, you need to use tight tension to make it stand up, also you may need more increase rounds and rounds on the side if you want it the same size thank you for watching
Thank you for your video. My sister has made many, and told me about your video. I'm just learning, but having a really hard time getting 12 hdc into the 4-chain ring. Any suggestions?
Thank you Kim, yes you can do a chain 5 or 6 or you can do a magic ring and then you can pull tight after you get all your stitches in. Hope this helps and thank you for watching my video
Hi, I crocheted this bag for a friend's mom for Christmas and she LOVED it!! She has ordered two more just like it. LOL. I made it red and used black as my stripe and trim. I wish the written pattern was published though so I don't have to watch the video and take notes. Thank you for the video. I subscribed!! How much yarn would I need for one bag? I used two strands like you did. I don't remember how much I used.
Is this pattern still on your FB page? I tried to find it (I even went as far back as Nov 2013!) but i'm having no luck! I wanted to see if anyone else posted picture on the bag they made! I want to try this, im just trying to get some color ideas! :)
It worked out, the 2nd time, but they do want to curl inward, I just messed with how I did my hdc's, brought upward and my yarn straight up from the hook, made them looser, tighter, I did a lot of messing with it. I've already said this, but your tutorial is the best one out there...thanks again
Hi there, this is Christie from bobwilson123 helpdesk. To finish it you would just slip stitch into the last stitch and finish like you normally would.
Hi Clare I have 8 ply acrylic yarn but why do you double up is it to get the stiffness to hold its shape or are you just using up yr yarn...can I just use it as a single for this bag. thanks Clare i love yr work xo
Hi there I would just like to know if you stiffen your bags because some of my bags that I crochet are like floppy and they are not firm. I hope you can help.
Hello, always watch the introduction to the video as this has the information you asked about I used 2x 7oz/200 gram balls of ***** Super saver and crocheted using 2 strands held together I also used scrap yarn for the contrast colour
Hi Althea, thank you so much for watching, I am so happy that it helps with your stress and anxiety.
Happy crochet

THank you for watching my tutorials and you are very welcome :)
I have made this bag several times in different colors. They are awesome and make great presents.
Claire, if you crochet into the back loop on the first round going up the bag, you get a very nice decoration.
Definitely needed a stash buster, house is getting cluttered with all my craft supplies. This allows me to use up some yarn and create organization, double yeah!

the video did good for me until about 19 minutes into it and then wouldn't work anymore for some reason. I'm hoping it does. looking very forward to making this basket!
Im not sure why it would have stopped working for you. Did you try reloading and trying it again?
bobwilson123 Yes I did reload and it worked great! probably something on you tubes end or something. But I love this bag/basket! I made one for shopping and I pretty much loaded it down and it holdup wonderfully! Thank you so much for this tutorial!

Can you please make a cross body bag tutorial ?
Btw thanks for your awesome videos :)
Hi sorry but at the moment I have a whole heap of videos to make. I will add this to the idea to the maybe list though.
i really wish you had a written pattern for this.i love making the basket but wish i had it on paper. do you know when you will have that for us to have??
Thank you very much for this beautiful pattern :-) 🥰 Now for a little constructive criticism (please forgive me as I cannot help it lol)... if you change three and join at the very beginning instead of turning four, you will have a smaller hole. It is almost undetectable.
this pattern uses a magic ring or a chain 4. if you use a magic ring there is no hole. the bag is also working in a continuous round so no joining
what color of yarn you use, I went to store but I can't find the same color. Thank you
can u do a tutorial on making bags with thin yarn
hi, thank you for your suggestion. i don't use yarn thinner than dk often.
Hello I just started crocheting and my bag is coming out good , is it ok if my circle curves up just a bit ... When I lay it flat the ends of it stick up in the air but nothing major
This is amazing! You don't happen to have a pikachu pattern do you?
OK. thanks for replying.
Great tutorial. Was wanting this make a bath like this for my daughter. To be used as a sleepover bag. Any tips for longer straps?
Jessica Clark make more chains for the handles and that will make the handles longer :)
@@CrochetwithClare p
oh no! I don't know what happened, The video kept freezing and I kept reloading it. I love the bag. will keep trying x
Thank you.
Bobby when the circle starts to crinkle you said we have to do a round or two of stitches but what kind of stitch.
The same stitch that you are working the bag in, so in this case it's half double crochet.
Can you use one strand of yarn
Yes you can, you need to use tight tension to make it stand up, also you may need more increase rounds and rounds on the side if you want it the same size
thank you for watching
Thank you for your video. My sister has made many, and told me about your video. I'm just learning, but having a really hard time getting 12 hdc into the 4-chain ring. Any suggestions?

You will need 2 7oz skeins.
2 7oz. Skeins per bag...gotcha. Thank you!
gracias hermoso !!!
So, at the end of making the circle with hc's, you build up the sides of the basket using sc's all around?
THe basket is made of hdc and the band around top and the handles are made of sc. thank you for watching
Didn't find the link for the flower Claire :/
Sorry I forgot to add it ...ooopsy

Oh I found it!! haha
Julie Allen YAY !!
muy bonito gracias.....
I love this! How many wool did you use? ^^
Hello soofzZ I can not remember, I would say 4 balls of 7oz Red heart super saver yarn, I used 2 strands held together
I love your tutorials so make many! Can this Basket be crocheted i med worsted (4) cotton? tyvm
Yes I think so, make sure you have tight tension so the basket stands up :)
Thank you for watching, happy crochet !
I have a question if I do this multicolor when changing yarn every 3 rows if I do crochet 3rd on the back loop will it make stand better. Thank you .
Sylvia Castillo Hello, Sorry i do not understand your question
bobwilson123 sorry for the miss understood. If I crochet into the back of the loop on every 3rd row, does the basket stand better.
Sylvia Castillo Hello, I have never tried, but I don't think this should make a difference :)
Can you use two different colors together?
Yes of course you can :D
Hi wat must I do after 3 rows of half double crochet and it's still not flattened
Hello Tasmin De Bock IF its your first 3 rounds and it not flat or flatish, you need a bigger crochet hook
Ok thanks
Tasmin De Bock
Hi, again,
Hello Julie, can you email me a photo ? bobwilson123@hotmail.com.au and i will "see" what I can help you with
It worked out, the 2nd time, but they do want to curl inward, I just messed with how I did my hdc's, brought upward and my yarn straight up from the hook, made them looser, tighter, I did a lot of messing with it. I've already said this, but your tutorial is the best one out there...thanks again
YAY so glad it worked out for you. thank you for your wonderful feedback
yes, and I'll be watching every one you put out. :-)
I made this and it is great! Thank you... One question: How do you finish off the slip stitch border? Mine just looks a little messy...
Hi there, this is Christie from bobwilson123 helpdesk.
To finish it you would just slip stitch into the last stitch and finish like you normally would.
Where do if find the link for the flower?
I made one of your bags love your videos don't no how to puts the pic on here and I can't find your Facebook page grrrr
Would love to see your photos at the facebook page
facebook.com/bobwilson123TH-camCrochetVideos
bobwilson123 cannot find this bag on fb, (saw the cluster stitch bag similar )wanted to know the height and width.its lovely
Hi Clare
I have 8 ply acrylic yarn but why do you double up is it to get the stiffness to hold its shape or are you just using up yr yarn...can I just use it as a single for this bag. thanks Clare i love yr work xo
Hello, Yes I used the 2 strand to get the stiffness, you can try just 1 strand just make sure you have tight tension :)
How to double the yarn?
how many rows did you do for the sides?
You make the bag as large as you want. So just stop working on the sides when it gets to the height you would like.
i dont remember..but i did make the straps long.
Hi there I would just like to know if you stiffen your bags because some of my bags that I crochet are like floppy and they are not firm. I hope you can help.
Hello, to help with making the bag stiff you can crochet really tight, using a smaller hook that is recommended for the yarn
Hope this helps
at the beginning you say we could ise magic ring. sonra how many stitches will we start with magic ring?
+Gözde Şahin You do the same amount of stitches with a magic ring, you do 12 hdc :)
+ok thanks :)
Hey how many balls of yarn did u use
Hello, always watch the introduction to the video as this has the information you asked about
I used 2x 7oz/200 gram balls of ***** Super saver and crocheted using 2 strands held together
I also used scrap yarn for the contrast colour
Beachbag
What do i do if mine does not flatten out after 3 rows?
Double check your number of stitches. If you have the right number it should be pretty flat.
Could this be made with just one strand of chunky weight (6) instead of 2 strands of DK.
hi, yes you could use a chunky weight instead of 2 strands of worsted
bobwilson123 - thank you 😊
Hi, for the life of me, I cannot figure which of the 3 at the bottom chain 4, I've tried pulling at each and they dont budge.
do you mean your starting chain? If that doesn't work you can always start with a magic circle
Ah.. worsted weight is thicker than 8ply ... double worsted yarn would be a bulky yarn., ideal for this 💖🌈🐻
отлично !
