Nora Haupokia was raised by her elders in the seaside settlement of Kiritehere, where she still lives to this day. It’s an isolated village with no cell phone or internet coverage. However, the one connection that sustains her, is the one she has with the land passed down by her tūpuna. She’s the sole kaumātua living in Kiritehere and one of the keepers of historical knowledge of the area.
