Its recommended that you use the LCO method for extremely dry hair. The products are seating on top of your hair because you use the Loc method. The oil is sealing out the rest of the moisture and only locking in the leave in conditioner. Medium to high porosity hair requires LCO method. Try it you'll see the difference.
Rushiel Watson she has fine hair, my hair does the same and I do LCO method the cream is way too heavy for finer hair texture so it doesn’t absorb all the way.
@@fg1434 I understand what you're saying but with the right cream and the right oil(not castor oil-too heavy for fluff nugget, as starpuppy said) the LCO method should be more effective.

Sorry gonna miss the meet up ( because DnD ran really late and I overslept). But yayyy Melanin hair care products. I still have my cream from last year lol and still trying to figure out how to use it best. It seems smaller sections works well. So I recommend you try mini twists and leave them in for a week(locks in pattern and less manipulation). Can still rock a twist out for like a day or two afterwards. Also I'm hearing peeps suggest the LCO method instead, you should try that. Cant wait to try out the Melanin leave in cause it looks like a moisturizing staple haha oh and it probably feels like a deep conditioner because it can be used as a deep conditioner.
Hi @starpuppy try using the products in the following order: leave-in, cream, then oil. I use the products on my daughter's extremely dry, incredibly coarse, amazingly thick 4c hair that fights back anything and everything. When I first style it I start with the leave in all over, then go to the styling cream section by section as I twist or style it however. I work it in and it truly melts in and allows the strands to soften and stretch. It's AMAZING! Then follow with the oil and twist/braid/Bantu knot it. After it dries we may leave it in for a few days or take it out and the definition, softened and springiness are unheard of. The product is phenomenal but I would suggest changing the order. I feel pretty confident you'll change your mind about the cream. Also you don't need to use the cream again until you are styling it again. Through the week I'd suggest just touching it up with the oil and maybe using a little of the leave in if you're going to retwist at night.
Love, love, love, love melanin hair care products. The cream is thick and it lasts a long time a little goes a long way. I'm just trying the leave in conditioner so no report on that yet but it feels great it looks very promising. I love the oil. I use it on my hair and on my body. it is awesome! And I don't have a problem with the cream that having a smell only because it is thick and I'm not a smell person. Products that I have used that has smell doesn't last in my hair long also, I sweat from my scalp so when I workout if I did have something that lasted in my hair, it would not smell pretty after a workout. Melanin. Best thing since sliced bread!
I think putting the leave in and a little bit of the cream on sections while the shower using water that’s a little past warm then sealing each section with the oil may help. My hair is mostly 4c in the crown and I’ve found when I stay consistent with products that give good results for a long period of time the moisture level increased and the condition of my hair got better. In the end the moisture and improved condition started to show my texture that was hiding under the dryness and split ends. I maybe wrong but I thought I saw coils and curls in your hair trying to peak through in your closeups. My hair started off the same way and it does thrive when I leave it alone with braids and twist with our without added hair.
When applying your leave in and styling cream, use warm water so it penetrates your strands better and the product doesn’t sit on top. So, warm water and then LOC or LCO. Also, I think instead of using the leave in and styling cream everyday just use the oil, because it causes build up. So the “flakes” you seen was build up from spraying your hair with the rose water and applying the products every day. You can still spray some rose water and add a tiny bit of the leave in if you want, but I wouldn’t go overboard to get the product that’s already on your hair activated again, and then apply the oil. Style your hair and it should still be moisturized. Just a few tips. Your hair looks great!
1) your skin looks AHHHHMAZIIIING 2) your hair looks really good! I’m so happy you tried the products. 3) I’m waiting on my leave in now (it got lost in the mail and some weird stuff *sigh*). I use the oil and cream now for moisturizing and I can tell a difference when I get lazy or don’t have time and skip steps. That line is just phenomenal... me and my friend call the oil liquid gold. Lol.
The lco method has worked best for my hair because you add moisture with your liquid, more moisture and conditioning with the cream and then all that moisture gets locked in with the oil as a sealer. Just a suggestion try using the same ingredients in reverse.
I've used these products several times now. After the initial wash where I use all 3 products, then I just use the leave in conditioner every 2 to 3 days to refresh the style (usually a braid out). When I take the braids down I coat my hands with the oil first combat flyaway.
I love the Melanin Hair Care products. I usually do the LOC method and style as a three-strand twist out after deep conditioning. My hair looks so fluffy and feels moisturized when I do this
I'm glad you said that about the cream because I've used cream products in my hair that have flaked and I never thought cream products could flake. I thought it was just something i was doing wrong .
Someone recommended you in a list of 4C youtubers!!!! And coincidently I landed here because I also purchased the Melanin products!! I subscribed 2mins in!! Sum' about your humour that got me lolol!!
Your hair looks VERY VERY moisturized!! 😍 it’s highly evident at the end of the video. So! Would you mix one part aloe to two parts water or straight aloe? Thanks for your uploads on hair and being an empath. They are very encouraging and informative (finger hearts).
I love melanin hair care been using it since it dropped on the market. The styling cream really elongates my twist outs and makes it appear fuller as the style gets older. My hair always feels healthy soft and moisturized when i use the oil and cream. Also like the fact that the products last a long time for me because i don't need to use a lot to get a good result. I'm waiting on the leave in conditioner it's out of stock now but if it is anything like the other products I'm sold 100% no need to shop elsewhere
This is the first video I’ve ever seen of yours. The algorithm just put you on my explore page and I clicked. IM INSTANTLY SUBSCRIBED 30s into the video. I just know I’m in for quality content
Just use the cream once a weak to really seal in. Becuz it's a heavy butter it will flake if you are heavy handed. On my 4c fine strands I found my hair was weight down until I started using 50% less of the cream the first day and it still stayed moisturized. On the 3rd day I lightly mist water or aloe vera juice then a little conditioner then little cream
First, I've enjoyed this video so much! You had me laughing so much so glad my mom was not home wondering what this girl clacking about... Second, I definitely see the difference in your hair. The moment you touched your hair on the final reveal I saw the softness, and is really darker. Now I know I really want to have the Melanin Hair care collection.
Try doing LCO because oil is a sealer and repeals water, so when you are very dry you need to put in the moisture and seal it in. Try that and see if that changes things up that did for me
I have to pair it with a nice gel in order to style nicely. My favorite is eco styler with olive oil or camels rose curl maker. It depends on the style to say which one will be used. The moisture is definitely there but I agree that is not a styler unless you blow out your hair then style dry. I have had it work that way
Honey, you might actually have medium to low porosity hair... Just by looking at how the leave-in is sitting on your hair after you applied it... I would suggest the LCO method. Make sure you use warm to almost hot water to open the cuticle of your hair strands before applying oil and or leave-in.
Have you every tried pure shea butter on your hair for moisture . I had extremely dry hair and Shea moisture has helped it soooooo much . I know everyone cannot use shea butter but for those out there who is looking for a good moisturizer and detangler try Okay's brand of shea butter. You can also use Creme of Nature coconut milk hair milk moisturizer , that helps too.
whitney just needs to take that leave-in and label it as regular detangler/conditioner. The elongating cream feels more like a leave-in for me. The products are not bad. That shampoo though tried to kill me. Stripped my scalp of all its moisture even after I pre-pood!
My hair is 4c and the twisting cream is the BEST, maybe you should try first the leave in (still haven’t purchased), then the twisting cream and last the oil on wet hair and twist it up on wash day
You have low porosity, like me. I use Melanin too.....The product sits on your hair because your hair shaft does not open as easily as others....meaning you have to open them in order for the product to absorb. I put the product on and steam it or apply heat....absorbs like a charm.

The products look like they worked as your hair looked more moisturized at the end of the video!
How is one person THIS charming. I could NEVER.
You are the funniest person I've seen on TH-cam! And so cute! Why is everyone commenting so serious, not recognizing how very funny you are??
I am cracking up over here! You need your own HBO like NOW!
Her packaging is GREAT!!!!! Wow she’s outdoing brands that have been around for 30+ years 💓😂
You look gorgeous as usual !!!!!
Star Puppy long time subscriber here. I am so glad you reviewed these products, I was thinking of buying them for my birthday. I'm a February Pisces and now I think I will! Thank YOU.
i love your channel rarely do i comment or even feel so happy when a person posts, thank you!
I discovered I had low porosity hair and the benefits of heat on it are amazing! I never do wash and go's anymore. Best of luck in your journey!
I love watching your videos! They always give me a deep since of nostalgia. You remind me so much of a friend of mine whom we all lovingly deemed “Tiffy!” Same eyes, and WONDERFUL personality!
I freaking love your energy - because of it, I'm subscribing! You're hilarious
StarPuppy, your voice is buttery... literally like butter. You should do voiceovers (if you don’t already). ❤️
1) your skin looks AHHHHMAZIIIING
2) your hair looks really good!
You don’t know how much I wanted you to do this video 🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰
I've used these products several times now. After the initial wash where I use all 3 products, then I just use the leave in conditioner every 2 to 3 days to refresh the style (usually a braid out). When I take the braids down I coat my hands with the oil first combat flyaway.
I would love to see you do this again but style your hair with the LCO method.
I love the Melanin Hair Care products. I usually do the LOC method and style as a three-strand twist out after deep conditioning. My hair looks so fluffy and feels moisturized when I do this
Why is she so preciousssssss!!!!!! I pray no harm finds her😇
I'm glad you said that about the cream because I've used cream products in my hair that have flaked and I never thought cream products could flake. I thought it was just something i was doing wrong .
I love watching you! I didn't even skip the ads, because I want you to get paid!!!! Go StarPuppy!
Someone recommended you in a list of 4C youtubers!!!! And coincidently I landed here because I also purchased the Melanin products!! I subscribed 2mins in!! Sum' about your humour that got me lolol!!
I can definitely see the difference, melaninhaircair products definitely moisturised your hair
Looking LUSCIOUS!!!
You came up on my timeline this week. I’m soooo hoooked, thanks for being you. Love you videos. Have a great weekend.
Try applying the leave-in and cream in shower, immediately after rinsing your shampoo. Use the oil lightly as a finisher.
If you ever get really tired of your hair, you could always dread it and document your loc journey!! I think dreads would look so dope on you! 😍
i can really see the difference!! i’m glad you found products that really work
Just use the cream once a weak to really seal in.
1st timer here.. Loooove your personality! Great review! I see you in commercials and movies!!!! Much love, happiness, and prosperity!
grulie, what am I doing here...I keep clicking you.....you are super precious....the self I never knew...so fun!!!
Faye in the city put a cap on even when she does leave-in conditioner. Our hair love warmth/heat which is why it absorbs the product better like that.
I have had it work that way
Bruh 😂😂 This is my fav review of this line so far
This is the first video I’ve ever seen. Star puppy is so funny. Love the content, please keep it up.
Now that I've seen a preview of a Susie cosplay, I'm demanding a full look!
Lol my hair doesn't like eating. This is the first video I've seen of yours and I'm already hooked to your personality
At first I wasn't going to try the Melanin Line because I am 4C. After watching you I've changed my mind.
Such a FABULOUS speaking voice! You're a doll!😁
I recommend using design essentials products, the almond and avocado line with the rosemary conditioner.
whitney just needs to take that leave-in and label it as regular detangler/conditioner.
I've had to use to lco method cause I was having the same issue you were
