More often than not, the complaint doesn't come up when someone has to make a weapon, it happens when they have to make 'another' weapon, (one that's not a cheap seasonal one at least.) I think if they did chop down the multiweapon cost and also addressed the need for more FTP shop access via more shop passes or limited free slots, it would help a lot of this. I notice a lot of chatter going around about specific meseta farms discussed on a 'per hour' basis, and that might sound real nice to someone who plays a lot of hours per day, but to someone who only has a couple of hours every so often, they're not going to want to spend their little gaming time falling asleep to a prescribed 'EZ meseta grind', so daily stuff tends to be the limit. Free shop slots could help out a lot more with people like that because they could keep filling those slots with stuff that sells consistently, or tossing in the occasional rare find for a boost. Then if they take a break, they're likely to at least come back to an extra little payday.
Did you like when they introduced the Einea A/B/S variants one week after the base Einea Armor? I'm pretty sure a lot of players didn't... and I think something's very wrong when a decent portion of the playerbase may often feel "I hope the next content patch *doesn't* add new gear" regularly. I don't think I know of any other game where that's the case. The upgrade costs are discouraging. It makes me not want new gear often, it makes me not want to try more classes... The good feelings from earning a new weapon may be overshadowed by the few weeks of boring farming to do to upgrade it or recuperate the costs. When Reyaar first came out, I got a Flugelgard for a class I sometimes play... and it sat rotting in my inventory and I'm still using Argenti when I play that class. Or something like that. Sure, the cost of upgrading one weapon every several months might not be too bad, but it's a terrible system for having fun.
The weird thing to me about the variant Einea armors is they rendered the initial versions almost completely pointless. No idea what to do with the regular non-tradeable Eineas now, and the Vida and Vio versions didn't even get more of their respective specialties than the variants on both counts. That was dumb. It really would make more sense for them to at least do better in the one extra stat they provide. Flugel also threw a wrench into things because a lot of people keep one on hand for the boost, meaning yet another weapon in need of top quality upgrades (because if you're going to that much trouble, you don't exactly want to cheap out on Photon Blast damage of all things).
I agree. What I learned is to simply wait. Yeah I blew a ton of resources on one Einea armor because one with a fixa fell in my lap. When the other Einea armors dropped, I said to myself "I will never invest in armor that I cannot sell ever again" I will invest into weapons I can't sell but I'm not going BIS anymore because weapons update too quickly. Once I stopped chasing new gear I totally began to enjoy the game more. I'm currently set up for tech and melee damage so all of those classes can be played at a high level even with LC augs on the weapon if I wanted.
@@ACLMSC : Thus far, I've been skipping alternate generations of armor. I ran pure Octos with Parfaits for a universal damage set (which still comes in handy when I need to randomly level classes that can't use Eineas yet.) I currently have 2 armor sets because I was running a Meltech set and then one day decided I really wanted to run Soaring Gunblade. XD So my tech guy got the Shezas and my other 2 characters can share the main MelRa set I have all me best on.... still not quite up to +80 on all of them though. XD
For someone like myself where I have 10 classes I run, the sheer cost of upgrading weapons and armor, even with me making a lot of multi-weapons and multi-classed armor units, it is BRUTAL. Tack this on along with wanting to keep my older elemental weapons and you have a recipe for sheer insanity. Because of this, I have made a decision to focus all high end gear on two classes whom are my best and favorites, Slayer and Ranger.
What do I think? I think multiply all this by the 4 characters I want to make in the game and reassess everything you told me about how worth it and cheap it is to do this every time new weapons come out. Seriously.....I think it's time the entire notion of how to gear and level up in the game maybe in a big need of an overhaul....not only am I tired of chasing "numbers go up" but it doesn't add any excitement knowing that a new weapon coming out comes with little functional change to playstyle or anything else because it is inextricably linked to the class I'm playing, so any real functional change happening to weapons besides that are minimal buffs, etc. They have to create an ability for the core of the game to be based on more than this if they are planning to have so little content despite mostly reskinning enemies, weapons, having little voiced character dialogue cutscenes, or even movement animations while talking. You'd think these things would mean they could pump out new story like hot cakes...but....nah....not really..... Really makes me wonder where Sega is putting any of the resources people are putting into this game. because I'm beginning to suspect.....it's another game.
Thanks for the vid! My biggest gripes with gearing: 1) Having to start from zero with augments every time I want to move to the shiny new weapon. (Augment transfers are now confirmed, thankfully, so let's hope they are reasonable to obtain.) 2) Spending half mil to 5 mil for EACH BIS augment and either burning a hole in your pocket buying enough to have a decent success rate or potentially eating a bunch of your good success boosters and item protects going the gamba route. And yes, it's BIS but what else is there to go for after LC augs? 3) If I'm not made of meseta, spending hours and hours farming duel quests and triggers to get the materials for BIS. This is a ton or work considering there is no real in-between build on the road to BIS (since LC augs are so close to them); only watching your potency crawl up by tenths of a percent as you slowly replace LC's with BIS augs. 4) Feeding 5 primm II's at a time to slowly walk my gear from +60 to +80 for no other reason than forcing me to use enhance boosters. Not the end of the world but feels terrible and has legit deterred me from making new gear for my secondary classes. I'm still rocking termina 4 versch on everything but my main despite having mats for at least 4 more reyaars; just can't be bothered. I agree with your points on the raw cost not being much of an issue; that's been the case at least since dailies were made to be more front loaded for raw meseta gain. It's just the amount of work/tedium you get for such small incremental gains has never felt great in NGS. Again, aug transfers (assuming they are reasonable) are gonna do a lot of heavy lifting in that regard but the augment affix system is not scaling well to the late game gear grind, IMO. Like, you need 100,000 Dread Keeper I plus the trade minerals to have a 70% chance of putting Dread Keeper V on ONE slot for ONE piece of gear; that's insane.
1 million to 10+ million Meseta is the cost of 3 Units and 1 Weapon/Multiweapon. 10+ million if you don't have the BIS Augs. Right now, because of LC Augs (average build). It is certainly cheaper within 1 million to 50 million but naturally... Potentials and Multiweapon cost 400k+ meseta. That's just for one set. Once you start building other weapons. Those 1+ million cost adds up. It took me 20+ Million to build my Dual Quest gear with the current BIS weapon and units.
I play for hours every day, but the meseta cost of upgrading gear costs so much I feel like I can never actually save up meseta for anything else. All I can do is upgrade my gear and I can never afford anything else. Feels bad man. It's way too expensive. Don't forget that you have three units as well, or more if playing multiple classes. Then some classes need two separate weapons (not just a multiweapon), like Fighter with knuckles and daggers and the double saber.
its really not, its a lack of effort in even setting up your weapon. players have access to money making that 100% f2p and alot of people just dont do it
There is absolutely no reason to use Argenti unless you create solo room to test out a new class. Yes you may save meseta in the short run, but the crappy dps will make you do contents way slower to a point you ended up losing meseta in the long run.

My problem as well as my friends problem isn't with the actual cost of making a maxed out weapon, its how often gear (ESPECIALLY WEAPONS) comes out and matches or invalidates most of your previously spent money and resources(it becomes a fodder for EXP to make actual grinding to +80 not terrible with a 100% booster but its still not ideal). For me personally I am used to this and have always told friends to NOT swag out weapons with pricey augments because in 2~6 months your weapon will be matched or outdated by some new series.
