The coveted Golden Nica Award at the Prix Ars Electronica in June was won by a Korean artist for the first time in the history of the awards dating back to 1987. “Delivery Dancer Koo” by Kim Ayoung took home the honors, beating out competition from around 1,000 other submissions, with its compelling story inspired by the lives of Korean delivery workers during the pandemic. 지난 6월, 미디어아트계의 최고 시상식인 프리 아르스 일렉트로니카(Prix Ars Electronica)에서 1987년 개최 이후 최초로 한국인 골든 니카(Golden Nica) 수상자가 탄생했다. 올해 각국서 출품된 1천 여 개의 작품을 뚫고 최고상을 차지한 작품은 바로 김아영 작가의 ‘딜리버리 댄서의 구’. 펜데믹 시대 한국 배달 노동자들의 삶에서 영감을 받아 제작된 이 작품을 제작한 김아영 작가는, 그동안 꾸준히 역사적 사실과 이슈를 미디어아트로 재탄생시키는 작업을 지속해왔는데.
