I got a big flash burn on my entire hand doing that. We left the igniter behind, so used a match held a safe distance away. Somewhere along the line I got complacent, no glove and no extension on the match, with predictable results!!
also, oxidation was never mentioned
is it possible to weld bars with different sections, for example, 50x5 to 25x3/ thakyou in advance.
