    There are mods which add challenge mode's bomb-spawning parts to the creative inventory which are _technically_ vanilla that you can use if the tubes prove to be too unwieldy in the future.
    Also, you can use a spud gun to trigger bombs. One shot will trigger it and two will cause the bomb to instantly explode.
    Also also the spud gun can destroy cardboard blocks, which you could use to make loading the engine less manual.

    • @deftknight7418
      @deftknight7418 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I don't know if that would work here. When I work with standard piston engines, I get problems somewhere at the top of their performance range where the crank starts to bend and cause the timing to go all weird. To solve this, I've recently started moving the tops of my pistons instead, which has allowed me to make some pretty powerful engines without having to worry about bending the crank. I don't know how you would do that with an engine like this, but you probably could if you wanted to.

    When you made the bomb activation mechanism, there is actually a part called the pleceable spud gun, it's a gun that you can turn on like any other usable piece. When you use it it shoots a potato that can destroy a cardboard block and activate bombs, if you use more than 1 gun to shoot the bomb at once, it explodes it instantly. You could still use pistons but spud guns are more compact and convenient

    The 90° offset in the crankshaft can be done with a bearing on a controller set to hold an angle of 90°, which is much more reliable, easy and less performance intensive. This is how most piston based engines in scrap mechanic do the offset.
    Note that block collissions in scrap mechanic aren't very reliable in general. Blocks coliding at high speeds can phase through each other and high forces can lead to hinges bending in axis they shouldn't move in.

  • @larsthestorf5630

Also you could use a vacuum pump with a chest filled with bombs to just place the bombs on the good location itself (looks less cool but its more reliable in scrap mechanic to use as little loose objects as possible) and also the vacuum pumps have quite some range.

    If you put a bearing between the 2 parts of the engine you can connect it to a controller and turn it 90 degrees, also, you can use mounted spud guns to detonate explosives

  • @SapioiT
    @SapioiT 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I think you can use conveyor belts to move the explosives, and cardboard and a mounted gun to place the explosive and disconnect it. The item placer pumps (forgot the name) would for the small explosives would need to be perpendicular to both the one for the cardboard and the gun destroying the cardboard, and all the blocks nearby should not have faces with connection points towards the explosive. And this would also likely solve the issue of storing all those explosives, and it would likely also simplify the control mechanism, since you could use memory logic to get 3 things to happen in a quick succession: place cardboard, place small explosive, shoot cardboard. Since the explosives would fall, unless going up a hill or at a similar angle, you wouldn't even need to push them, but you can do so, if you want to give them a boost, and to make use of a delay you will most likely have, since you need to wait for the explosives to fall anyway, but you can tome their explosion to happen in quicker succession, by propelling the next explosive over a short distance, to get to the piston head and explode faster, so the next explosive can get to the piston faster.

  • @mm-erem
    @mm-erem 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    For the long corridor of bombs I'd recommend making the piston father back and have it push a series of metal blocks that in total is the length of the corridor so it prevents the bombs from slipping in and exploding on the retraction. I would also recommend using the pistons compression to ignite the bombs instead of a complicated ignition system involving sensors and what not.

    okay so try one of you crankshaft pistons, but vertical. then have a separate tube pushing them in time with the piston. this will bounce it upward while setting it to detonate, but not immediately. hopefully, by the time the kinetic energy transferred form the piston wares off, the bomb will have reached a chamber with the simple free arm you showed in the beginning. the free arm will be attached to a wheel. when the bomb reaches the chamber, it explodes, sending the free arm flying. by the time the arm runs out of kinetic energy to spin, another bomb reaches it. now you have an engine. i would love to do this myself and send you a video, but my laptop can barely run building games like scrap mechanic and trailmakers.

    I don't remember how but you can pulse pistons with logic gates in a way that lets you control them precisely, so for example they can stay in place at any distance as long as it is smaller than the maximum set in the piston, you could use it to make the feeding pistons turn off to avoid the bombs being compressed like that

    Use a bomb spawner mod, then you wont have the issues with bomb limits, and then use spudguns to explode them

    There are challenge mode parts that spawn bombs that you could have used to spawn the bombs unless you wanted to do it differently

    Next time you could try to use vacuum pumps to place explosives, as well as spud guns to set the explosives off.

    I know this is kind-of cheating, but there are small explosive spawners on the workshop. The challenge pack has only large explosive spawners, which are way more tedious. You could use them for convenient tests, or a better engine. Love your vids and can't wait for more content on scrap mechanic

    8:36 theres a solution to this. Since theres something called piston engines and they connect the wheels with that engine but thats a hard thing to do since somethings gotta keep it together so it doesnt fall, answer use the piston trick, what did i say? The piston trick, since pistons have no collind parts you have endless possibilities like cars with engines that arent gas electric powered but piston powered. Look at on from the workshop and you’ll see what i mean

    The piston should be 3 blocks long so there's no play and you can build the piston directly from the crankshaft on the lift

    This engine is basically a REAL car engine because a real engine is powered by gasoline explosions, hence the name "combustion" engine.
