Rover p4

P4 rover fitted with a Mercedes 603 engine,front drums replaced with stub axles and discs from a later model along with a remote servo.Also the front coil springs will be changed to allow for the lighter diesel engine and to lower the ride hight.The fuel tank and spare wheel holder have been removed and a 17 gal tank placed behind the rear seat

+doodlethecat I don't understand that either: those Rover engines are about the smoothest you can find, but then someone thinks it's better to put a noisy diesel engine in it?!?!

+lau's kanaal I agree when these engines are low miles or have been rebuilt,the engine in that car had12800 miles on it and needed rebuilding ,the merc had the same mileage and was still in good fettle with more power no oil leaks and good on fuel so there is choice to make,i will stick with mine

A most Interesting excercise. I have been offered a P4 that has been in storage sinced the 1960's, and I am viewing the opportunity with some trepidation. Any hints, and advice will be most welcome, as I am completely green in such a venture.

+Hu Pe I would love to but the car has been sold ,it ran very well ,i have had three of these P4,s and this performed on every level far better than any of the others.

What a shame to spoil a Mercedes AND a Rover. Either would make a nice car to restore in its own right, but a mongrel is and all will be just that. All Spare Parts!
