The answer is: he is a fictional character written and illustrated by various artists. The most relatable version is that The Punisher is *just* a tough-as-nails veteran affected by trauma and a fate that anybody who gets close to him dies thus fueling his vengance.
Punisher was one of my fav tv-series and i just watched Punisher War Zone yesterday, i liked it and they chose actually really good and believable Frank Castle. And i think only time when he isn't thinking about them is when he is doing these missions that keeps other people from losing their loved ones.
It reminds me on how Hawkeye lost his hearing by being around explosions and doesn’t even use guns where punisher is constantly using guns. He would basically be deaf from all the gunshots, but he has above average hearing that’s probably even crazier than the teeth.
Just because his morals don't match the morals of other heroes in the comics doesn't mean he doesn't have them. He is a disciplined solider and soliders have morals but they aren't civilians so civilians commonly misunderstand them. If military and police didn't live by a moral code of some kind they would be terrible at their job and none of us would have any rights. If he didn't have a moral code that he lives by then he wouldn't be a hero he'd be a villain.

It could be a good comparison between Frank Castle and Bruce Wayne in that they’re both at their physical peaks, both have been highly trained, both do want to provide justice through violent means, and both are mentally unstable due to tragic family circumstances. Key difference between the two is that Bruce doesn’t want to kill, because he knows that if he starts he might not be able to stop himself while Frank has no problem ending lives if necessary.
@@CajunReaper95 That’s there biggest difference. Bruce still believes in justice through system means or means of other people the right way while Frank believes in justice through his own hands.
You missed the key difference between batman and punisher. Punisher stops crime and protects the people. Batman juts puts crime on layaway and endangers the population.
Would've loved to see another Punisher War Zone movie the late Ray Stevenson (R.I.P 🙏🏿🙏🏿)going up against more criminals with Barracuda as the main antagonist btw, great video on the character.
The punisher is just to angry to die, like doom guy. As for his hearing that’s a real thing. Soldiers that have gone through many combat and ambush situations pick up on sounds. I’ve talked to many veterans and soldiers of today when I worked at my local American Legend, they where always like ope someone is getting ready to go through the front door, or someone dropped a box in the back room. They learn to not to just trust your eyes but above all trust your ears the most.
The only thing that I can argue about is the thought that the Punisher has no moral code. One of the main reasons that the Punisher spends so much time setting up his massacres is so no innocents get hurt. Many times in comics, tv shows, and movies the Punisher refuses to kill LEOs is because he doesn't want innocent blood on his hands. These examples shows that the Punisher has a VERY strong moral code.
Frank Castle has an extra gear of vengeance. The guy can tap into the feeling of the loss of his family and use it to out fight, out rage almost anyone.
Personal theory rests on Punisher’s resilience with painkillers, mutagenic antibiotics, and a secret connection with eugenic scientists still testing for super soldiers or with Frank Castle, super-sleepers.
I love how Punisher was the first Spider-Man villain to evolve into his full own main character, proving that any villain can be way more than just an antagonist. All Frank needed was the skull logo and a good story, which still lives to this day, always evolving with modern times, from his Vietnam War days to his Black Ops nights. Unfortunately, he's been suffering a lot lately, both from people that never understood the character or that just keep misunderstanding him all the time. People keep trying to put characters in a black-and-white world where there are only heroes and villains, but Punisher was one of those characters to break that mold. Not everyone is 100% good or bad, just as not everyone always does what's 100% right or wrong. Punisher doesn't fit neither, and that's the beauty of it. Nobody has to do either, it's their choices and actions what defines them. I hope we can see characters like him grow like we'd always seen him do over the decades. Only time will tell what Punisher will be up to next in the future.
@@bobdole4093 In case you didn't read what I wrote, didn't watch the video or just plainly don't know anything about Punisher, yes, he did start off as a villain. That's literally how his first appearance ever happened, as a Spider-Man villain manipulated by Jackal, another Spider-Man villain, for the alleged death of Norman Osborn at the time. It doesn't matter if his motive was right or not, he was made to be a villain at the time, an assassin that tries to kill an innocent, only becoming an antihero years later when he got his first solo run. Nowadays, he's not even antihero anymore, he's become an antivillain ever since 'Punisher Max', focusing only on going after bad guys over protecting innocents.
I've always figured Castle made a deal with Mephisto at some point. His ability to take punishment and avoid death seems unnatural. Either the death of his family was the price or doublecross, or his body count leads to their resurrection.
I agree, he is either switched off his pain because of emotional pain or Mephisto talked to him long before cosmic Ghost Rider. He received countless souls because of his anger. Easy deal.
He doesn't regenerate his teeth, he has an orthodontist. Almost endless budget from the drug dealers and other criminals he bumps off and taking their proceeds off crime. That can buy dental implants or high end dentures. In the Max series there is a moment when he has a doctors visit and the doctor goes over the injuries from his 30 year war on crime and it's realistic in that he's just been lucky.
People like him because he's like Batman - he's a human. No mutant or supernatural powers. He's something that, like Batman, people can more easily suspend disbelief becoming moreso than other superheroes.
considering its a comic book i thought the "does frank castle age" question was dumb but unless youre unfamiliar with any iteration presented on the small and big screen of the character asking "can frank castle reproduce" is just MIND BLOWINGly derpish
Unpowered superheros are the best. All marvel superheros got her powers by some radioactive shit. But punisher is just a normal man with military training and sheer will, and has to rely on tactics and ingenuity to do his job.
In my head canon, Frank is actually a mutant whose primary special ability is simply that he can’t die. He can sustain all the same injuries as a normal human, but no matter how serious, they will never be fatal for him.
Really great video, but completely missed opportunity was not mentioning Cosmic Ghost Rider Frank Castle. Another version of The Punisher with many superpowers albeit not being the in main 616 universe or even in this time being of a few thousand years in the future, it is still one of the coolest Punisher storylines. Definitely recommend it to any fans of character.
At this point it should be fine to illustrate Frank as having dentures with a steel plate on the roof of his mouth where the teeth are bolted onto and when they get knocked out he’ll just go to his local orthodontist buddy for another fix up lol Plus, the steel plate can be used more throughout his character as Punisher for when a bad guy thinks they killed hum when shit in the jaw but he then gets up and kills him from behind by breaking his neck, or writing him having a rough voice after the denture implant #AntiHeroDentalCare 😁😂💀
The greatest Marvel comic hands down ever since being an antihero and Spider-Man to becoming a one-man army against crime and putting the bad guys down with no hesitation and no BS just getting the job done
Whenever I think of The Punisher, Job Bernthal's face immediately comes to mind. He was just incredible with portraying Frank Castle to the point that I almost thought this is a real person. I just hope they bring him back again for more Punisher movies or TV shows in the future
I was in a traumatic situation years ago. I ended up with ptsd. My ptsd is hyper acoustic sounds. Some days I can hear sounds that I should never be capable of hearing. A couple eating lunch two blocks away at a park bench talking about the food. A car starting 4 blocks away, a prius. Countless conversations through the walls of my apartment complex. I understand the super hearing. It can drive you crazy if not understood. Hub McCann, second hand lions. Frank is Hub reincarnate.
I think the most powerful Frank Castle is when he was imbued with the Ghost Rider AND The Power Cosmic to become Cosmic Ghost Rider. He was still beatable but not by many...he messed Thanos up pretty good.
I think it has something to do with being in good shape. When I was at my peak, I noticed that not many injuries kept me down for long, and I almost never got sick. After I got fat, not so much
Surprisingly I'm fat and I almost never get sick... I have in the past but very very rarely... Last time I was hospitalized for a week and had to take blood work, they found I had about either 1700 or 17000 (forget which it was exactly but it was waaaaay over the normal amount for a man of my age at that time which I was 24/25)...... they kept me in the hospital under the guise of "lowering my white blood cell count" which I actually think they were trying to either replicate them or trying to cultivate them from me...

The Punisher doesn't regenerate teeth or body parts. This is especially true in the PunisherMAX universe, which is more realistic than 616. If the Punisher can regrow teeth, it would be classified as a superpower or mutant ability (only exception was when he was FrankenCastle, and that was because of cybernetic parts and the Bloodstone gem). More likely the reason why he has teeth again in the next issue are dentures or implants. Another proof that Punisher doesn't regenerate body parts was when BullseyeMAX cut off PunisherMAX's pinky and if you look closely in the next MAX issues, his finger is still mssing.
Punisher war zone was a masterpiece and i will not tolerate any slander towards the late great Ray Stevenson's portrayal of the best cinematic representation of the iconic anti-hero 💀 Now if you'll excuse me, I'm gonna get my apple sauce back!
A reason that no one mentions on why the punisher shouldn't be written the way hes been recently is because without him the kingpin and doom would have more goons for superheroes to take care of, Deadpool chases after famous superheroes while punisher leaves villains without a big amount of thug employment under the command of sed villain. If it wasn't for Frank..... Aunt May would be under the kingpins payroll because hed have so much corrupt influence thanks ti the absence of the punisher that it would make it all the way to her neighborhood.
About the aging of the punisher, you should check the french comics writer Jean Graton and his most known work "Michel Vaillant". Michel is 20 something at the start in 1958 and 30 something in 2007. Same goes for any recurring characters. it's quite a funny thing to think of. Then a "reboot" occured in 2012 placing Michel in his forties with a teenager son.

Because he's the Punisher. That's like asking how Batman dissappears.
It's so funny when you see the edit where he's running away 😆
He will never hurt or kill inocent people
@@weybye91 I believe in one comic he became suicidal for a time when he thought he was responsible for the death of a innocent civilian until it was revealed that it wasn’t his fault.
@@weybye91 exactly
@@Axzuin and i also think marvel created the punisher, cause he could basicly be your everyday ordinary man
@@weybye91 personally I think he connects well with military, military families, and veterans. I am a veteran from a military family myself. From my own experience Frank Castle sounds a lot like myself and other veterans I know. The only real difference is in real life you tend to learn how to control it or end up in prison.
Just imagine if Frank Castle had Wolverine's or Deadpool's healing factor.
Frank wouldn't want it. He told Deadpool with a healing factor you just don't learn anything
As far as i know Wolverine has the same healing factor as Deadpool (Deadpool got from Wolverine)
@@mattkenway1383 no, i don’t remember who but someone has a worse/slower healing factor
@@mattkenway1383basically the same but Deadpool’s is a better model
@@mattkenway1383 not technically. Thanos cursed Deadpool with immortality. Wolverine can die/be killed. Deadpool cant or at least couldnt be. gave up withtrying to make sense of Marvel's reconning characters willynilly long time ago
As castle said, he make sure the bad guy doesn't return
@@CajunReaper95 That’s there biggest difference. Bruce still believes in justice through system means or means of other people the right way while Frank believes in justice through his own hands.
You missed the key difference between batman and punisher. Punisher stops crime and protects the people. Batman juts puts crime on layaway and endangers the population.
@@wittyjoker4631 castle stops the criminals permanent, while Batman or deardevil just gives the criminals a slap on the wrist
@@weybye91 yes that's what I said.
In my opinion the Punisher is just a hero. Plain and simple. Not an anti-hero
By definition he is an anti-hero but opinion wise yeah people do see him as a hero
A hero becomes anti hero when it kills for justice thats why spiderman is a hero but Punisher is a anti hero
The max run of the punisher was amazing. Favourite were born and from first to last great reads
He passed a deal with the Devil during the Vietnam War.
Least, according one comic book.
That was during Punisher Max by Garth Ennis and no, it’s not the Devil. It’s a metaphor similar to the Devil…
when you say devil, you mean Lucifer Morningstar from LUX.
that would make a lot of sense
10,000 crunches, squats, strikes & deflections as well as 2,500 flips & tumbles = PERFECTION
Thanks again Marvelous!!
Frank Castle has an extra gear of vengeance. The guy can tap into the feeling of the loss of his family and use it to out fight, out rage almost anyone.
My favorite, and I would argue the most authentic, version of the Punisher is definitely John Wick.
In the thomas jane film he is saved by a voodoo priest. I always figured he has some of the voodoo mojo in that movie.
Personal theory rests on Punisher’s resilience with painkillers, mutagenic antibiotics, and a secret connection with eugenic scientists still testing for super soldiers or with Frank Castle, super-sleepers.
I LIKE HOW MOST OF HIS PENCILERS DRAW HIM WITH A CROOK NOSE
He was never a villain. He's an anti hero
@@bobdole4093
In case you didn't read what I wrote, didn't watch the video or just plainly don't know anything about Punisher, yes, he did start off as a villain.
@@radrno7 he was always an anti hero. His origin is that of an anti hero.
@@bobdole4093
Ok, I see you're here just to waste time and not actually reading what I wrote.
@@radrno7 I did. But you still mistakenly confuse anti hero for villain. That's on you.
I'll assume English isn't your first language
I've always figured Castle made a deal with Mephisto at some point. His ability to take punishment and avoid death seems unnatural. Either the death of his family was the price or doublecross, or his body count leads to their resurrection.
Underated comment
I agree, he is either switched off his pain because of emotional pain or Mephisto talked to him long before cosmic Ghost Rider. He received countless souls because of his anger. Easy deal.
Except that he didn't.
Isn't he like blessed or something in his quest from one of the angels to do god's bidding, similar to Ghost Rider being the Devils bounty hunter?
He did... in Vietnam he made a deal with a demon
With Frank Castle being a military man always thought that it was a mind over matter resilience.
Military man here, Marine Corp Infantry. Yeah we still feel pain just like everyone else lol
@@joshuapalmer4206good thing frank wasn’t a infantry man, he was special forces and the most of elite of them. They don’t.
The Punisher is the Doom Slayer to angry to die
Punisher is a Batman that kills.
When Morbius put Frank Castle back together he exclaimed, "It's Franken Time!"...😜
People like him because he's like Batman - he's a human.
"NOTHING IS OVER!!! NOTHING!!! YOU JUST DONT TURN IT OFF."
I think the punisher just got brand new veneers every time his teeth got knocked out😂
Franks healing factor for his teeth is called dental insurance lmao
R.I.P Ray Stevenson 🙏🙏
Cool video. Punisher is different! I'm glad he's getting his due.
Punisher War Zone was the best out of all the films
In my head canon, Frank is actually a mutant whose primary special ability is simply that he can’t die. He can sustain all the same injuries as a normal human, but no matter how serious, they will never be fatal for him.
So wolverine 😐
Really great video, but completely missed opportunity was not mentioning Cosmic Ghost Rider Frank Castle. Another version of The Punisher with many superpowers albeit not being the in main 616 universe or even in this time being of a few thousand years in the future, it is still one of the coolest Punisher storylines. Definitely recommend it to any fans of character.
Cosmic Ghost Rider is frkn lame. Of all people they could've put in that role, the put Frank Castle. Nah.
@@luisgomez8635 such a weird argument to drop because pretty much everyone has been Ghost Rider at some point LOL
Almost all superheroes have some level of a super healing factor.
A hero that willingly checks their own power are characters that tend to stay around.
He’s super powered..just…lightly seasoned
After seeing Jon Bernthal play Shane in TWD It seems so normal when you see him get very violent in the punisher show
The Punisher's super power is called "plot armor".
Great introduction with my absolute favorite Punisher movie!! Dolph Lundgren for the win!
Frank castle probably has a pituitary gland issue. I had something like that, I built muscle like crazy by pretty much sleeping and basic retail work.
Frank's regenerative powers come from him being a solider... Of Call of Duty xD
Castle just has an abnormally high pain tolerance and resilient to mind control
In the military you use superglue & foam for wounds.
And staples 😂
He’s the hero we deserve
At this point it should be fine to illustrate Frank as having dentures with a steel plate on the roof of his mouth where the teeth are bolted onto and when they get knocked out he’ll just go to his local orthodontist buddy for another fix up lol
Plus, the steel plate can be used more throughout his character as Punisher for when a bad guy thinks they killed hum when shit in the jaw but he then gets up and kills him from behind by breaking his neck, or writing him having a rough voice after the denture implant
#AntiHeroDentalCare 😁😂💀
The greatest Marvel comic hands down ever since being an antihero and Spider-Man to becoming a one-man army against crime and putting the bad guys down with no hesitation and no BS just getting the job done
Punisher is blessed by death itself.
Whenever I think of The Punisher, Job Bernthal's face immediately comes to mind. He was just incredible with portraying Frank Castle to the point that I almost thought this is a real person. I just hope they bring him back again for more Punisher movies or TV shows in the future
He’s just really tough and if it doesn’t kill him he doesn’t stop
So glad to see someone put some respect on Dolph Lundgren's name for his portrayal of the punisher.
just here to support Frank...long live the punisher!!
Punisher war zone is one of my favorites ngl
I was in a traumatic situation years ago. I ended up with ptsd. My ptsd is hyper acoustic sounds. Some days I can hear sounds that I should never be capable of hearing. A couple eating lunch two blocks away at a park bench talking about the food. A car starting 4 blocks away, a prius. Countless conversations through the walls of my apartment complex. I understand the super hearing. It can drive you crazy if not understood. Hub McCann, second hand lions. Frank is Hub reincarnate.
I would like to state. The punisher is a beast he is not a mortal man he can kick the crap out of anything that moves including a full toilet bowl😊
i will never stop defending Punisher: Warzone. its a perfect badass ride
I think the most powerful Frank Castle is when he was imbued with the Ghost Rider AND The Power Cosmic to become Cosmic Ghost Rider. He was still beatable but not by many...he messed Thanos up pretty good.
This video is long overdue Frank Castle is one of my favorite comic book anti heroes.
Frank castle vs Sam fisher now that’s a battle
Hes like Doomguy anger drives him 😂😂
13:24 - my VERY favorite and the most underrated Punisher movie 👍👍👍.....sorry Dolph 😉 and RIP George Stevenson 🙏
The cast in that Punisher was A-mazing ❗
Doug Hutchison & Dominic West were brutally good and it's very rare to see such a performance.
And that movie was directed by a woman !
No words !

I don't know if any of you has read Punisher: "Born". Garth Ennis did a great job explaining why old Frank can do what he does.
Punisher war zone was a masterpiece and i will not tolerate any slander towards the late great Ray Stevenson's portrayal of the best cinematic representation of the iconic anti-hero 💀
Now if you'll excuse me, I'm gonna get my apple sauce back!
😂 love the applesauce line
16:22 we call it combat awarness. Franks super power is being a pissed off marine
Punisher def underrated
Which Actor do you think is the perfect Frank Castle?
Like = Thomas Jane
Comment = Jon Bernthal
Jon Bernthal hands down.
Ray Stevenson is punisher max on film
When he gained ghost riders powers, that was an awesome combo.
So essentially he has no superpowers but he has superpowers technically😂
Bernthal is such a Sav. Love that they're bringing him back.
He got that superhero genetics, you're trying to complicate it
Dunno if its been done in any of the comics anywhere but imagine Frank Castle with adamantium in his bones.
At this point … man is a super hero
I don't like Frank with superpowers but I am 100% behind him in the War Machine armor.
