The first one of these that I made, using epoxy resin, bent without even having a phone on it. The next two that I made, I put down flat on a silicone mat once cured, put a smooth weighted tile on them, and left them for 30 days. They both work perfectly, with no bending. I have been using them for about a month now, and both are still straight.
thanks for letting me know about your success with the resin phone stand, I will leave mine to cure for 30 days and see if that makes a difference in my case
I think that is because the phone has one of those "handle" thingamabobs on the back, causing phone itself not to sit flush on the stand....but I could be wrong 😅
Great experiment! I think the red one just needs to cure more because it’s thin. Like what you did with the white one 😀. BTW I ordered jdiction sealer. I get it on Tuesday so excited to try it out 🤣
The polyurethane I have used is let's resin and it is definitely the strongest option for thin molds. And I think Storm night is correct except it was Steve McDonald that put wire into the resin. As far as the yellow resin I have had regular resin part b turn yellow you can add a drop of blue/purple alcohol ink and it will take the yellow out without turning the resin blue. It's pretty cool way to save resin.
thanks for letting me know the polyurethane resin you use. i hope to get the Let's Resin at some point. And thanks for the tip on how to take the yellow out of part b, I haven't heard about that before
That kinda “famous” guy, I think his name is Daniel 😊Cooper. Someone will know, he used wire. Poured a thin layer placed wire in the mold and covered it. Kinda like they use rebar in concrete. I’ll see if I can find the video.
Many people add royalty free music to fill the quiet parts and some people don't speak at all showing their process to their creations and only playing music which some make one sleepy or annoyed at the mechanical musac that is played. (of course I have the option to silence the video and just watch, smiles)
Sorry....me again 😊 The one with the fibreglass powder in was bending, slowly. I kept my eye on the resin bottles in back of the camera frame, and could clearly see it bending slightly. The white stencilled one did not.
In your opinion.. which do you think is best? I just bought this mold, and it came with two sets. The vid that I watched the artist used pu resin. I also have mix2mold. but wouldn't taht be subject to breaking? Also consider some ppl's phones can get hot while streaming or facetiming. That might be an issue?
with mix2mold you would have to be careful, someone did mention putting resin on the mix2mold one once it is fully cured, I haven't done that with mine, and I am not sure how heat from a phone would affect a piece. my phone has a cover on it as well as a pop socket on the back so it isn't right against the stand which may keep the piece from getting warm
@@nmbbeingintentionallycreative After watching your vid, I saw that Steve McDonald did a vid on these holders about 3 years ago and he said that PU Resin is the best for these holders. He even mixed in micas in several colors before he poured it. I just ordered Let's Resin PU Resin, but since I cannot wait till Sunday to get it.. lols I'm going to Michaels today and pick up the Alumilite brand they have to try it.

Great information ❤
Steve added card stock with the wire. I only do uv resin or ceramic resin. We have a nosy, silly cat!
I think it’s still bending. But it is hard to tell. What’s weird is the phone doesn’t even touch the back on either of them.
I love the stencil!

@@margiist ohhhhh I didn’t think of that!!!
it is a popsocket on the back of the phone and that is why it was sitting away from the back of the phone stand
you are right, i looked up on Best Buy, they are called popsockets
cool that you liked the stencil

glad you liked the experiment, and let me know what you think of the jdiction sealer, I would like to know

I hate dusting because in a day or two it looks the same! 😂
Where I live that is such a true statement 🤦♀️

I haven't seen Daniel Cooper do this, it was Steve McDonald video that I had watched.

the stenciled one was made using ceramic resin
