Great detailed review! However, (not trying to be a pessimist here) isn't it sad that everyone out there (Europe, America's, Asia and Australia) are reviewing the latest Tiguan (and technically all other brands)...but it's only here whereby we review 2014/2015 models (in 2021) coz of the crazy taxes imposed on newer vehicles making it almost impossible to afford latest vehicles. Looking forward to more of your reviews!
@@evansthemann1639 ikr it's actually depressing...and yes the brand new 2021 Tiguan is going for 4.5m at VW Kenya.....and I think it also has alot to do with cartels in the car business controlling the market. Hey Wokabi, nice review on the tiguan. I own a passat estate and is very comfortable. Once you go the direction of European cars, you never want to go back. I agree with you on the DSG but i've never had a problem with it. Just get a good Mechanic probably from DT Dobie and spend that extra for the DSG gearbox oil.
I was like you till I started driving the new Japanese, Korean brands. They have clearly taken over. Honda accord, kia stinger gt, mazda 6, lexus. Sales figures clearly tell I'm right. Talking about North America
As a lady who owns a 2000cc TSI 4motion Tiguan with brown leather interiors, I totally agree with everything you've said. Thank you for the great review. As for the boot space...it's unfortunate that the space is very small. Otherwise it's an excellent car. Good fuel consumption and picks up very well with very smooth gear shift. I love my Tiguan.
Thanks for the analysis. Just recently discovered the channel and I enjoy the reviews. Could you do a follow up on this for a 2017 Diesel 4Motion for the Kenyan roads.
Good job! However, looking at the engine, that is a 1400cc dual overfed engine (turbo and a roots type supercharger) and not a 2000cc. Even the badge says it.
I acknowledge your correction, we missed out on the exact spec, the 2.0TSI is a 4MOTION, Thank you for your continued support to grow this channel to be better and better
Hey wokabi I would really like you to sample the Subaru crossovers too for I believe it will broaden the knowledge on which crossovers are best to gamble with
Yes... Exactly.. i think Subaru will win especially the forester that's because of it's legendary boxer engine, and it's symmetrical all wheel drive(AWD) combination of this makes SUBARU a king no wonder they trust Subaru in the wrc world championship rallies
Big up Mwalimu.... That *point kakuku line* hit as the punchline it is... Awesome content... Unique and the humor🔥🔥🔥 here since under 50k never disappointed 💯💯
Excellent work. About the 1.4TSI, it is ok on a golf, will last long if cared for. But I feel it is too small for the Tiguan. @32:38 your cameraman shooting from the boot passes by, and you give him this “seriously?” look.
😂😂😂😂 we left those ones there to see who watches keenly we love that you did, the 1.4tsi is relatively good for the polo and the Golf if you not heavy footed and well taken care of it will give you the best service
On DSG units, there are two versions of it. One with the wet clutches and the second one is the dry unit with twin clutch packs. These units are capable of running to 100,000 of miles without giving you any headaches if well taken care of . If abused, they will definitely fail prematurely. The wet clutch unit will function well if serviced every 40000miles. This means changing the oil and filter every 40000miles. Measure the fluid when draining it and refill with the same amount. I'll come back later on the twin clutch system.
DSG is a good gearbox to drve, but the best gear box of all times is MT. Cheap to maintain (most clutches are less than 10k), fun to drive n 100% interaction with the vehicle.
Good and very informative review but for anyone looking for a competitive crossover that will give you both function and practicability the Subaru outback, forester or the xv is the package to go for when it comes to off-road capabilities...oooh!! and not forgetting the aspect of value for money and reliability, no offense though to this awesome German machine 😅😅
I just bought my 2019 VW Tiguan.. the new model are really reliable compared to the old generation. Ive a friend of mine who is having trouble with DSG,its really expensive.
I just like the fact that you touched on the common issues with this car.overall I would rate this car 5/10 on reliability and that is mostly dependent on ones driving style.also you can get a sunroof but on high end trims with push start system ignition
Nice review. As a Rav-4 driver, I wish you touched on the fit and finish of the interior which far ahead of its JDM counterparts. The soft touch interior finish and even the action of the doors opening and closing is for me a real treat. Also, the 2.0 TSI is excellent (agreed) and the seats are incredibly comfy. Also regarding the DSG gearbox, yes very pricey fluid... 6k a liter and it's also advisable to change the DSG oil filter as well.
