It's been a pleasure recording for you. You've rekindled my love for this game. Urchin Underpass is probably my favorite. Like you said, it's a very varied map, and I always have a ton of fun on it.
That Caitbug bit was also priceless.
Camp triggerfish tho. In splatoon 2 it says that Pearl’s parents own it which I thought was an interesting detail

why does everyone hate Camp Triggerfish XD
This list was just perfect! As an Inkbrush specialist, I was incredibly please to find that Blackbelly Skatepark ranked so low, and that Moray Towers, Hammerhead Bridge, and Flounder Heights ranked so high. Also, I love how your OC is a Chandelure! I feel like it's one of the really cool Pokemon that gets a lot of unfair flak. Definitely subbing!
I disagree with hammerhead bridge for these main reasons, but I like it for certain reasons:
Disagree:
1: I hate how the middle part is all grates, (Through the top, of course)
I can't really sneak up on anyone that easily, since you would fall through the grates as squid, so I decide to do some wall climbing. Wall climbing, though, is very frustrating, as you are quite vulnerable to people around you and other people above you.
2: It's either Middle, or Side, or, as for me, Die, or Die.
I can barely get ANYWHERE no matter WHAT path a take no matter WHAT weapon I use.
I can't seem to figure out the correct strategies. I will always find myself getting ambushed by someone, or attacking someone in a team. Did I forget to mention that I can barely get anywhere? oh, wait, I did. But did I explain why? Well, maybe. But the main reason is: The BEST weapons I use for that one don't have:
A) A good special for it. or
B) A good sub-special.
And if they do, like all the time, I die quickly, so I can't use the special more than once (Maybe 2 times on lucky occasions)
And the good sub-specials Make you run out of energy quite quickly. (Like all others except for burst bombs)
That makes it hard to move around the map quickly without constantly refilling your ink. (Like most of the other maps)
And 3:
I just hate it for a reason I can't find. I just hate this part more than the other 2 reasons combined:
Rollers & Sometimes Snipers...
Now sometimes, it's just those other 2 reasons I hate about that map, but otherwise, I count those 2 problems as Tier 500/10, or, 500/5...
Reasons I hate Rollers: They can sneak up on you from the tops, or Dynamos can easily out-range you if you have a short ranged weapon.
They insta-kill you with there first move, and I especially hate Carbon Rollers. They're fast at moving around the map, and can easily surprise kill you with their quick attacking...
Sure they don't insta-kill you with rolling, but they sure do insta-kill you with their freaking first attack... (Like all Rollers do)
And Snipers, well, the main problem with them is that they can find good spots that people can't get to without waiting 10 seconds, and then dying to
A) The sniper
B) One of your teammates
or C) A Special attack such as an Inkstrike...
And they also have Good Range and can insta-kill you with a well charged, well aimed, good shot...
Advantages:
1: Take all of the dis-advantages and make them good.
You can do all of those, but there are other advantages, such as
A) There are good hiding spots and good spots for covering yourself as you regen/not die.
B) Like I said before, there are good hiding spots, but you can also use them for tricking people, and they're good sniping spots...
and C) People with height (Or, people that are high up) Have a good advantage to lower ranged weapons, just like every map. But this one has lower walls, allowing you to hit them quicker, which gives you the opportunity to get a quick kill/splat.
But just remember: They can sometimes kill you, too.

All the stages are out, including the shifty stations and splatfest versions, though it should prob be a multi Part since day, night, and the shifty stations equals 47 different maps for turf war, not even counted the ranked changes yet

I agree on your opinions but for some reason I LOOOOOVE kelp dome due to the way the land scape is and how your spawn is on a hill so if the enemy team gets on your side you have the higher grown or you can be a dumb ass like my cousin and jump and escape

11. Wahoo World [I think the theming is great, but the rotating pillar in the center was what killed Museum D'Alfonsino in the original game for me, and WW didn't do it much better]
12. Goby Arena [I think it's reminiscent of Blackbelly, but that's coming later]
13. Inkblot Art Academy [I used to LOVE it, but the water kinda rubbed in on me. In a way, I think it works, but it's like Mahi-Mahi Resort where it's only a presence when it gets in the way.]
14. Kelp Dome [Really fun, horrible for traditional turf war]
15. Snapper Canal [Kinda has the Camp Triffergish problem with the jumping across to the enemy side. if you go from the front, you can make it, but it's a one-way road]
16. Arowana Mall [I keep getting lost in there]
17. Piranha Pit [I kinda like it, but it's one of those maps where it's just not as fun in Turf War. My favorite mode for this is rainmaker]
18. New Albacore Hotel [see inkblot art academy for why i don't like it]
19. Ancho-V Games [The. Fuckin. Fans. Drive. Me. Insane!!!]
20. Eyewall Houseware [not enough containers in the new version. Port Mackerel stole them all]
21. Sturgeon Shipyard [The moving walls that become platforms near the spawns are JUST SO ANNOYING]
22. Humpback Pump Track [One of very few new maps that I actively DREAD playing]
23. Blackbelly Skatepark [I get that they updated it to make it better, but I CAN'T GET OVER HOW FRICKIN ANNOYING IT IS!!!!]

I honestly agree on Flounder Heights. It's great to make your way over to the enemy spawn, and it feels like you're on some sort of Metal Gear-style stealth mission.
Still never getting over the Caitbug segment. So perfect. Good stuff buddy :D

I absolutely hate Museum D'alfonsino mostly because of the middle area. I would also like to mention that not once in the past 5 times I've played Splatoon has it not been in my rotation.

Yes, Hammerhead is one of my top favorites. My favorite when I was new to the game in November was Camp Triggerfish because I did not like close range weapons, for me to not have range freaked me out & having the separate sides where I can reach without having to access it since at the time I felt more comfortable being closer to home, it was glorious.
Time moved on & I got more experimental. The Carbon Roller Deco made me appreciate rollers. Using seekers helped made me feel more comfortable & opened me up to rollers then I started using ink brushes.
Still to this day, my favorite weapon is the N-Zap 89 since it has a nice, fast fire rate & just enough range to keep me happy. Also the best sub/special combo you can ask for. It's just having the low damage output forced me to try & avoid enemies of which I did & when I came across them, I used tricks to give me the upper hand or tentacle in this case.
One of my favorite tricks being, the sprinkler decoy. Yeah, if you've never used it or seen it being used, pretty much throw a sprinkler down when you see an enemy then when they start shooting it, you shoot them.
The reason why I took the time to explain this is because it ties into how Hammerhead Bridge is my favorite map. Usually, I run down the bridge at the very beginning. I shoot the ground below me to cover turf & get whoever is below once you're far enough in as well. I fill up at our middle platform & throw a sprinkler at the opposing team's middle. This always draws in my bate for a splat & I can then carry on my way.
By the way, I will sometimes use the Splash-O-Matic on that stage but I'm just throwing suction bombs & having a blast out of everything. I always seem to be able to lock the other team at their spawn point given I have ink recovery up equipped & I can manage to get enough ink back by the time my bomb explodes to throw another. I also can be hard to spot since I try my best to not stay in the same spot & no, I do not use ninja squid so if they aren't distracted by the suction bomb & see where I retreat to, it can hurt me.
I do realize I am a massive jerk since a pleasure I get on Hammerhead is the fact that I like having people being beneath me. I feel so powerful & I even get this evil smirk once I spot a roller or something that can't do much to fight back against me unless they realize I'm there. I have too much fun shooting at those who are under me.

Firstly, Flounder Heights is my #1 Splatoon Map, too! I love the design and mechanics of the Map! The Swimming Mechanic is also my favourite feature of Splatoon 1! My Favourite/Main Weapon is also the Roller, specially the Carbon Roller/Carbon Roller Deco!
Secondly, thank's for the little congrats on the Pause Timing, Wam-Boy! (you wouldn't believe how long it took to get it)

Blackbelly Skatepark is actually one of my favorite maps, but that might have to do with my playing style, since I never use Rollers.

@@MrTytyth okay 3 years late but that's not the biggest reason the biggest reason that stage was rigged was the fact all inklings are right handed so they can peek and shoot around corners way better than the other side which needs to throw their whole body in the open to shoot

I personally dont like Flounder Heights very much, but your argument for choosing it is very respectable! Indeed, it is the stage that most used the painting on the wall to climb it thing

Wambu i love the video and the placements seemed fair but i play ranked a lot so i would say that hammerhead is the worst as any gamemode feels like its just one team insta win or win after 5 hours

I agree, Albert. The grates make it so you are pretty much vulnerable the whole way if you play Rainmaker, it's really hard to avoid fire and stay on the tower in Tower Control, and Splat Zones is... Well, Splat Zones.

my personal favorite is port mackerel because it always keeps me on edge because whenever you turn around a corner an enemy might be there and you dont have much breathing room

Of all the maps in Splatoon, this one is the only one I actively avoid, and the only one I've never once had a good time playing. The narrow walkways, the excessive verticality, the focus on chargers... Everything about this map is just frustrating to me, and every time I think I finally get it, someone snipes me or randomly pops up from one of the ledges and ambushes me.
Oh, and in ranked battles this stage is somehow even more frustrating. Splat zones has the two zones miles apart and near impossible to defend, Tower control is essentially target practice for E-liters, and Rainmaker has ledges for the carrier to climb up and get a huge lead, and it's impossible to stop them cause there's so many ways to go and the map is too huge and half my team is dead and fuck me why is this the map the brought back for Splatoon 2?

I feel like Bluefish Depot is one of the most fun to play on because the main choke points are divided and equal, and allow a wide variety of weapons to be used. Plus it's more of a win-more map, where if you get the upper hand you can get more area to cover.

Wtf Hammerhead Bridge is literally unrecognizable. I thought it was a completely new map in Splatoon 3. Not just a new mediocre map wearing its skin for publicity.

I believe there is one major glaring issue with the spawn points and that is with how inklings hold weapons. All inklings hold weapons in the same hand for every weapon and that will be bad if you spawn on the side where you get a disadvantage overall and makes it harder to win overall if your stuck on that side.

I think it is the WORST stage in the game, I like ABSOLUTELY NOTHING about it, if I could get rid of one stage in the game, it would be Hammerhead Bridge, I wouldn't even think 2 seconds about it. in saltspray rig when good chargers gaurd the top part your basicly screwed in turf and in bluefin depot there's a little portion on the left side you can ink and not get splateed by chargers

Idk, but I saw that the wiki had calculated the inkable surface area of each stage in battle points ^-^ Blackbelly Skatepark had the least with 1528 while Piranha Pit has the most (by a lot) with 3127.

blackbelly, is compressed and extremelly small, besides a WHOLE MODE WAS RETRACTED because it was so small
Splatoon 2 News! It's not like Rainmaker piranha pit, Port Mackerel tower control or Saltspray rainmaker AND Tower control were retracted
every randomized map type game has a ruin or abandoned temple theme map. i felt like designing one for splatoon on paper then into a model. (im not good with the lore so if this sounds wierd to you then deal with it). its a rectangle based map with 2 pyramids in front of spawn that go about 4 times the standard inkling height. in every corner there is a big octoling statue in sitting position and if you look into the distance (east middle) with a charger, youll see an octoling (live) sitting on a rock in the same position as the big statues. there are many water obsticles that you can falll into, the whole background is a forest/jungle and the whole map has a yellow hint and has green vines hanging all over it, you can hear echoing noises of octolings that gives you a complete feeling of abandonment and you can still hear th echos of the old inhabitents. my lore for the map: a group of inklings head out and find an ancient octoling temple from a few thousand years ago and then after studying, they open it up as a turf war court. please tell me if you need anymore details.
Number 1 is also my fav, it's good when u know how to Octobrush (my main) in the map

Flounder heights is even more perfect in splat zones. i love how there are 2 zones, and how they're divided by a grate.
The final update for Splatoon 2 came out. Will you make a new map list? I’m guessing blackbelly skatepark will still be at the bottom.

Its kinda ironic coming back to this after splatoon 2, seeing the top 4 (as of writing) not making the cut but a few from the bottom spots did.
Will you update the countdown as more maps get added?
I agree with you on Flounder Heights, especially if you're using a N-Zap 89 on Splat Zones. My only problem with Kelp Dome is that there aren't any good sniping spots, which is a big problem when an E-liter is your second main. Also, BRIDGECEPTION
The best thing about Port Mac. is the splash wall becase the crates are narrow for a PERFECT defense
Very well said. I do agree with 16. But I love Blackbelly. I prefer smaller maps because I usually use the inkstrike, so if there's some ink around somewhere; I can always get over there quick and fix it. :)

Blackbelly Skatepark is one of my least favorite stages in between both games, and people usually don’t complain about Camp Triggerfish.
I applaud you guys for putting them low, instead of the normal Moray Towers or Kelp Dome
I agree to most of your points. Personally, I like moray towers and hammerhead bridge the most though

Piranha pit is my favorite map because of just those little sections that no one goes to. I usually hang out in those places.
I love Flounder Heights and Hammerhead Bridge.They let me go crazy with 2 of my favorite weapons.The slosher and the inkbrush.On Hammerhead Bridge I love the Slosher due to the range and being able to splash ink high enough to hit people through the grates,while in Flounder Heights,It many be hard to scale walls,there's enough tight spaces to get in close and cram that brush into their skul-squids don't have bones.....FU-
The slosher is also great on kelp dome
salt sprang was the map I got a TON of kills with a splat charger and you can spawn camp with charger(spificly the blue charger with fast charge rate) as well but that's cheap I like to stay at the top of the map and snipe from there
and I love urchin underpass with a brush
It’s unfortunate that tomorrow is the day splatoons life support is pulled due to Wii online ending. At least we still have stuff like this so we can remember the games glory
