    9:20 that isn’t really fair. Luigi U and Mario U are different games. Luigi U reuses all of its assets from Mario U yes but all of the levels are completely different. It was originally DLC for Mario U, but since it’s essentially its own game it got its own physical release as well. In my opinion Luigi U is actually much better than Mario U

    Well, I'm sorry that you didn't enjoy it as much as the previous games. Personally, I loved dream team as much as the previous titles. It's my second favorite game in the series. The only problem I had with this game is the constant tutorials, but other than that, it's still a blast to play through imo, so glad the series is finally returning after 9 years since paper jam.

    Yeah, I'm not the biggest fan of Dream Team either. It's like the game tries way too hard to be like Bowser's Inside Story and, since I've played them in order, it ended up being very repetitive. And the fact that it's twice as long doesn't help at all.

    Popple doesn't remember you because he got amnesia after Birdo hit him all the way to Little Fungitown. It was suppose to be an ironic outcome from him using Bowsers' amnesia to use him as his personal rookie to becoming some random toads' rookie with his new found memory loss.
    I will say I was hoping there would be a call back that would spark Popples' memory of the bros thus being the cause of his boss fight. I was also massively disappointed that his theme song never appears in the game.
    edit: I do feel like the down fall started with Dream Team mostly because of it's forgettable story but I gave it a pass because it was a celebration of the 10th year anniversary of Saga. I remember telling myself if they ironed out the slower parts and made the story engaging for the next one it might beat Saga imo..... *crying luigi noises*

    Tbh I think Bowsers Inside Story is a bit overrated.
    Dream Team is my first game in the Mario and Luigi series and I have massive nostalgia for it, however I’m not the type to be Biased about something. Really the only game that is the best in the series is Superstar Saga, the one that started it all.
    Bowsers inside story for me is my least favorite in the series, but it’s above paper jam, that game is the lowest, But Bowsers Inside story for me has pacing issues, not as bad as Dream Team, although I don’t mind a long game, just that the beginning was a drag. The pacing in BiS is mostly present in the bowser side of things, bowser is slow and thankfully towards the end there is a feature where I can move fast but that’s towards the end. Pacing isn’t as bad but it’s there especially in the middle. Another thing I have a problem with is the repetitive mini games. I love mini games in the Mario and Luigi series but from what I remember in BiS is that they are all the same and don’t really evolve or do something new, they happen every time a giant battle starts or to do something to enhance bowser or make him feel better. Not all the mini games are bad, some are creative. Fawful as a villain was just boring to me, but I’m glad Dark Star is another Original villain. Fawful’s motives weren’t consistent and I was getting pretty annoyed with him. I do like Midbus. Not to mention the Giant Battles weren’t as good as Dream Team’s but I understand it was the first game to do it so I’ll let it slide.
    And one thing is that the game doesn’t take place in a original setting, I would count Bowser’s insides to be a whole new world, but it would’ve been cool for the game to take place somewhere completely different while also having to explore the inside of bowser. Partners in time did this well with a past, unfamiliar version of mushroom kingdom. Yeah this game has a few original areas but, as someone who’s had Mushroom Kingdom Fatigue even as a kid after playing the same Mario games, I wish there was something more refreshing like previous titles and dream team. That’s why I’m glad. Brothership is going full original with its worlds.
    Overall Bowsers Inside Story wasn’t for me, it had some repetitive gameplay sections and the game has, not the worst, but pacing issues.
    Superstar saga remains the best.
    But that is just my opinion.
    Bonus: as much as I love dream team for nostalgia reasons, I do think the bros attacks are the weakest in the series, and the category of bosses are boring and uninteresting in my opinion. Paper Jam’s is the number one weakest, but Dream Team’s bosses are pretty boring compared to the previous 3 games, making it the second Weakest of bosses.

      @@BiggestSniff oh I know there is fast travel, but it’s just moving as bowser, to me felt pretty slow.

      While I don’t think it’s as good as BiS, I do find it to be better than SS which I found kind of boring to play because of how short that game is and how bland its gameplay feels compared to the other games (I still think it’s better than PiT though, which is my personal least favorite game in the series after replaying through all of the M&L games very recently).

    • @jaretco6423
      @jaretco6423 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @Masked_Mastermind Whole hardly disagree on DT being better than SS. I like how short SS is considered it doesn't need to be as long and the gameplay is more consistent. Dream Team has too much mechanics added into the gameplay tgat felt overbearing & not at all fun.

    • @Masked_Mastermind
      @Masked_Mastermind 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@jaretco6423 SS felt too short for my liking and also lacked difficulty. It also doesn’t have any postgame content like boss rematches, which makes the game lack any replayability imo. The enemy attacks also feel really basic to dodge compared to what the Dream World enemies in Dream Team can do. To me, SS’s gameplay started to feel dull after a while since it doesn’t have any of the unique gimmicks that the later games have. SS is good as a first entry to the series, but it pales in comparison to the later games except for PiT imo. I personally enjoyed the new mechanics in Dream Team (except for the gyro controls), though I understand that they’re not for everyone.

      @jaretco6423 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @Masked_Mastermind Well you have to remember it's the first game of the series back in the GBA and it's limits. I agree the difficulty is somewhat all over the place. But it's not an big hazzle nor tedious. Dream Team is way too long and I thought alot of things like Dream World and others were underwhelming compared to what Bowser's Inside Story did with inside Bowser's body and whatnot. The battles were way more repetitive. Even in Dreamy Battles it wasn't that intriguing and it introduced worst Bros. Attack out of the series IMO. Not an fan of how the gyro was handled.

      @@jaretco6423 Guess we’ll have to agree to disagree. But yeah, like I said, I find SS to be good as a first entry to the series, just not as good as the later games except for PiT which is the only one that I consider to be worse than SS. I also agree about Dream Team being too long, which is part of why I prefer BiS and even PJ over it since those games had the perfect length imo (not too short but also not that long), but I still found it to be more fun than SS despite how long it was. And yeah, the gyro controls were unnecessary, though I only really found them to be bothersome when fighting Zeekeeper and Giant Bowser.

    Dream teams writing pisses me off. Characters from every previous game return which is really cool but none of them remember or recognize Mario and Luigi. It’s really stupid and makes their reappearance feel kind of empty. The elite trio got a promotion and are now Bowser’s elite personal guard, even though they literally betrayed him in the last game. Why the hell would he promote them? It makes no sense. Lastly and most importantly, Bowsers roll in dream team is way too big. He is essentially the main villain. Antasma is so damn cool but the game constantly feels like it’s undermining him. Despite being a king, he has no underlings so you just fight Bowsers. The final area is not Antasmas castle or Bowser and Antasmas castle, it’s just Bowsers castle. Antasma really just doesn’t do all that much because the game is too focused on Bowser. I hear a lot of praise for the scene where Bowser betrays Antasma but I fucking hate that scene. Villains betraying each other is such a cliché. I get they’re evil but it’s so old. What makes it worse is that it happens right before the final boss so it doesn’t mean anything. You could remove the betrayal from the story and nothing would change. If it happened halfway through the game, they could’ve done something interesting with That, but as is it’s pointless. I’ve heard people say that they like how Bowser is essentially the main villain of dream team because he was a fool and all the other Mario and Luigi games so it’s essentially character development for him. I do get where they’re coming from but I also don’t care. Bowser is the main villain of practically every Mario game. I don’t want him to be the main villain of the RPG‘s especially when Antasma was right there. I also doubt it was even intentional character development. And for the cherry on top, they kill Antasma with inflation. How classy. I would’ve much preferred if the final boss was Bowser and Antasma fusing together or something. That would’ve been rad as hell

    my biggest issue with this game is the absence of the villains. Everyone always talks about antasma being super cool but oh my god he's barely in the game!!! • @ORandomRicky
    @ORandomRicky 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    As someone who as finished the game, it genuinely left me really disappointed. As a whole, Paper Jam is still the weakest M&L game, but I honestly felt more underwhelmed playing Dream Team cause my expectations for it were put VERY high after playing BIS. I mostly don't have many issues with combat and graphics, but everything else is such a downgrade. The story starts pretty alright, but than it slowly goes downhill when they start stretching the shit out of it. Antasma could have been a great villian, but the second they start focusing more on Bowser (a character that shouldn't have been in this game imo) they forgot and do absolutely nothing interesting with him after it. And talking about Bowser, he is one of the BIG things holding the story back from being genuinely great cause, he genuinely didn't need to be here period, it felt like a really forced addition only to ride the sucess of the previous game, which didn't work. But the worst thing of this game truly, is the gyro controls. On normal combat it ain't too bad, but on the giant Luigi fights (another thing done to ride in the sucess on BIS) ... OOF! It sucks dude, it's one of those things that really helds me back from wanting to replay this game in the future.
    I don't think it's a bad game tho, it's still mostly fun all things considered, but man, it genuinely feels underbaked at points :/

    Glad I'm not the only one who thinks Dream Team isn't that good. The pacing is definitely the game's biggest problem. So much unskippable tutorials and other things that felt so padded in which felt really handholding. It's the reason why this game is the longest game in the series. The game tries to replicate the same magic as Bowser's Inside Story has, only with Luigi. But aside from Luigi being in his best performance, everything else felt underwhelming than what made Bowser's Inside Story so good in the first place. Also it has the worst Bros. Attack out of the entire series. Some of them uaing gyro are clunky.

    Honestly pacing is probably the biggest issue with M&L Dream Team. The game just has TOO MANY tutorials! The game can also feel quite padded at times (The hunt for the dream eggs comes to mind). One thing I want to mention though is that this game is actually what introduced me to the M&L series, meaning that if it never existed I probably would have never went on to play any of the other games. Surely It must have done SOMETHING right to make 12 year old me interested in the series, right? IDK, but what I can say though is that this game dose certainly hold a special place in my heart.
    However even with my soft spot for DT I can't deny the truth that BIS is a better game lol.

    I'd argue the art style would be better if the sprites were bordered. It's clear that it makes the characters hard to see if they meld into the background.
    But I don't agree with the whole deal with Bowser. Bowser isn't Dedede, he's not an anti-hero turned ally, Bowser is a bad guy through and through.
    Even during the Lore Lord Kumazaki-directed era of Kirby (Super Star Ultra onward) Dedede's still a pretty nasty character, it's just more often than not he's plenty usurped or, as you mentioned, mind-controlled to be the main boss, unless you count things like Kirby Battle Royale.
    Regardless, it's pretty clear Dedede still dislikes Kirby, which isn't a far cry from his roots, but he's also not going to go past being a villain entirely.
    And it's that way with Bowser, Bowser's personality may be a goof, but he's still supposed to be the main threat.
