my SIL gifted me this crochet kit for Christmas. Never have I been so enthralled and enraged putting together this goofy little critter. i've never crocheted before!! but by god i was gonna DO THIS THING!!!! so far i've had to redo the whole thing four times, broke my crochet needle twice, nearly injured my hands, kept mismatching instructions for arms and tail, and now... SOMEHOW, Suzy is complete. she may well be a beaver/hamster hybrid created by fidgety hands and an outside 3.5mm needle, but I'm proud. I did not leave my SIL's Christmas gift to collect dust. I've been blessed and cursed by my newfound knowledge. Thank you very much for this video. Perhaps when I take a longer break from school and actually learn before barging in and hurting myself, I'll try it again.
Got this kit for Christmas and am now working on Suzi. As an FYI, I also found this kit done on the “Nittles and Nattlies” TH-cam channel. Between the two channels, I think I am good to go. Thanks for this video tho - very helpful!
@@TheNiniSimone I was struggling just to tie it around my finger and she was already finished with the head🤣 I ordered another kit on Amazon that gets delivered tomorrow
My DIL bought the beehive and didn’t get passed one stitch and gave up! So, I ended up making it. Now, I am doing Suzy cat. I had it just about done and had I known about this video it sure would have helped! How did you all know there were videos? Did I miss something on the box? How do you all get along with that plastic hook?
Beverly, After the earliest production of these kits, we added a callout to the instructions about these videos. Unfortunately, your kit may include an older copy of instructions. We also notify via Instagram and Facebook each time we upload another video, or if you subscribe to our TH-cam channel then it will notify you as well! Keep an eye out as the Beehive kit is still on the way!!
My plastic hook was way too flimsy and broke! I know it said it's important to use what came with the kit, but I found the stitches made with the plastic hook weren't even that great to begin with, so I switched to one of the same size in a better quality, and it gave me better control, especially when doing the decrease stitches in the smaller areas of the head, neck, arms, tail and fish.
Thank God you made this 2 day's ago my daughter had this kit and if you wouldn't have made this video she would have had to stick to to hard instructions.
this video is great and all, however, my kit came with 1. a different thinner yarn than what's used in the video, and 2, a missing back to one of the eyes. I had such a hard time with this kit just because of the yarn alone being so thin that no matter how loosely my stitches were, they still became super tight at some point and the yarn being unworkable at that point. Every time i went to make a new stitch in the chain, the yarn kept splitting and getting caught on the hook. I unfortunately gave up on the kit entirely due to this reason.
I had a similar experience. The yarn that was given is nothing short of sewing thread and is outright disappointing. In the video you can clearly tell that the yarn given is thicker and what I got in mine was poor quality. Not to mention this video isn’t as helpful due to the big time jump where she completes the head. My kit also came with a missing back to an eye. I just genuinely hope nobody else has this problem. The advertising on the box is what made me buy the product and I was genuinely saddened when I had saw what is actually inside and how poorly the yarn and materials were packaged. The yarn in my box came ridiculously tangled up and had knots in it even before I tried to start the project.
Please reach out to us at help@askacrafter.com. We would like to remedy the poor contents included in your kit! The yarn should not be thinner or unworkable and we can replace the missing parts.
I bought this kit from Hobby Lobby a couple of weeks ago, the box was damaged but I didn't think anything of it. I opened it today to start working on it, and the instructions are missing!! 😢 Could a kind soul scan or send me a picture of their instructions? I really want to make this 😢
I’m making this for my neighbors daughter currently and wish I would have watch the video before attaching the eyes because they are not in the right spots 😅😅
I am trying to find the video of the grey cat with the white dress. The QR code doesn't take me to the tutoria for the correct cat. I have tried to find it unsuccessfully amongst your other tutorials. Can you please help me locate it. Thank you.
Jackie, In the written instructions there is a section at the end "Finishing" and that's where it states to add the orbit, punch the eyes, stitch the nose and whiskers. This is just shown earlier in the process in the video - you can do it before or after crocheting the rest (body, legs, hands, tail and fish) - it just has to be done before you stuff and attach the head to the body. Then Finishing proceeds with stitching the Ears onto the Head and the other parts together.
I'm stuck on the fish but the vid jumps to the completed one 😅 Rnd 3: [sc in next sc, inc] 4 times - 12 sts. Rnd 4: [sc in next sc, inc] 3 times - 15 sts. I don't know why the 4th round actually either more than 15 or it stops short of the round.
Round 4 of the fish reads as follows: [Sc in next 3 sc, inc] 3 times - 15 sts. So... [3 + 2] x 3 = [5] x 3 = 15. In Round 4, you're putting 5 stitches in every 4 from the previous round. Round 3 has 12 stitches (3 sets of 4) so Round 4 has 15 (3 sets of 5).
You should really slow down when showing how to attach items, such as ears, nose, whiskers, etc. I’m very familiar with crochet but have never made anything like this.
i came to see how the feet were made and you skipped over it 😶🙃 the pattern says “ch 2, 8 st in 2nd ch from hook” i have done it over and over and i cannot get it to work. is it supposed to be 8 sc???
This was the most unhelpful video I have ever watched. Not only did this not explain things very well but it just jumped cut to the head being done instead of walking it through with the viewers; or at least explaining a it better. I had to start over on this project some many times that I just gave up. 😐
A year later and your comment is still true. The instructions are unclear when it comes to making the arms, and the video skips over them entirely. Job well done here.
I ended up returning this as this tutorial was bad as she moved way too quick and didn’t explain it well. She’s very good at what she does but moves way too fast. :(
This is genuinely the worst tutorial I have ever seen. How are you not even going to show up close how to make a slipknot? Not everyone just knows how to make a slipknot lmao
Please do the bee hive kit next 😩🫶🏻!! I just bought this and now i realized I don’t know how to start.. which is my fault but if you could help us, would be grateful!

Changing the payback helps alot. But i think it have been more beneficial to not have a white background when working with white yarn.

Thank you so much for this tutorial. I’m a visual person so seeing it really helped me.😊
I love this kit! Im stuck on the feet. I wont give up though! Thank you!
Mam you’re too fast
Nina, Under settings you may adjust the playback speed to .5 or .25 to watch it slower.
You can make it slower ya
Too fast and doesn’t even show how to make everything.

So for Rnd 4 where it says “[sc in next 2 sc, inc] 6 times-24 st” it’s saying to sc in next sc and 2 sc in next sc , right? This is confusing me a bit

The written instructions do not state when to add eyes, ears, or the face.

I’m really struggling on rnd4 what does Sc in next 2 sc, inc mean?
Reference the video at 4:25 where this shorthand is explained.
@FabricEditions ohhh this helped so much, I was so used to something like '2 sc in next st' but this makes sense because it's not an st, it's an sc 😂
I'm stuck on the fish but the vid jumps to the completed one 😅
Rnd 3: [sc in next sc, inc] 4 times - 12 sts.
I can't even tell if I'm starting the fish the right way
