    Saw this video before I bought my 1-up rack. I like the idea of the marks for various bikes. I also spent a lot of time walking behind the car to see if it was centered, so doing this little trick is nice and quick. Great job on the video. Thanks.

    Just saw your tip to mark where the back wheel should go. Ingenious! I only have 1 bike so I only need to mark the positioning for that bike. Thank you for the video and sharing your tips. I really like my 1Up Quik Rack. Simplest out of all the ones I looked at during my search in 2015.

    Great review, which influence my decision to buy. I have had my 1UpUSA rack for 19 months, and it is still is one of my favorite things. My Bacchetta CA2 has a 47" wheelbase, and the 1Up fits it perfectly. The bike ALWAYS feels secure in the rack, especially with a wheel guide on the front wheel. The locks are well-designed, though I only use them when the bike is left on the rack. With the Hitch Bar-Stop on the rack, installation is really fast. Great review on a terrific bike rack.

    I search for 1up USA rack review and this was the first one to pop up! Pleasant surprise. FYI I have a Thelma 2. It does in fact work with 27.5 bikes. But fat bikes no. Also long wheel base bikes are tough too. For the money it's a nice rack but you definitely get what you pay for! I'll probably pick one of these up cause my brand new Switchblade is a little too much bike for the Thelma.

      @@Detroit3Pistons I haven’t heard of it failing but they provide a Velcro strap that you use as a backup. It goes around the back bar of the bike rack snd then through the hitch loop.

    What I like about it is that when you install it in to the receiver hitch you can position it and fix it in anywhere so that you can have the rack very close to the bumper. So that when there is no bike on the rack and the rack is folded up it doesn't stick out much more than the bumper.

    I have the double 1UP rack in black too. I also have that same Cannondale CAAD. Anthony speaks the straight talk, this rack can not be touched by anything on the market. I have several thousand miles on my rack, it is on back of a Class B RV.
    I personally looked at 20 racks for possibilities to work on my low hitch mount and not bottom out. This is the only rack that does not go straight back from the hitch some distance thus making bottoming out worse. Anthony may not know that they also sell locks that go through those holes on the tire bars thus locking the bike to the rack. The same lock is also used to lock the rack to the hitch.

I'm looking at getting a system like this, but came across the quick rack mach 2. Looks almost identical and comes out of the same city. Do you know anything about that system? It's about $100 cheaper on the single rack and will go up to 4 bikes.

    Thanks, this is a good review
    Did you consider the Thule T2 XT Pro? It is the only other bike rack I'm considering at this point (I'm almost set on the 1UP)
    On a minor note, the 1UP is NOT the most expensive bike rack. The Yakima and the Saris are cheaper, but the Thule and the Kuat are not. The 2 bike 1UP rack costs $529 in silver and $609 in black. The equivalent Thule is $580, and the equivalent Kuat is $627. I don't understand why a lot of reviewers in forums and TH-cam videos say that the 1UP is more expensive. It simply is not true.

    • @anthonys6657
      @anthonys6657  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks Bruno. I don't think the Thule T2 XT Pro was out when I bought my rack. The Thule looks nice, but I have never used it. What I like about the 1up is that you can split it into 1 or 2 or 3 bike trays. So if you are only hauling 1 bike, you only need 1 tray. The other trays (if you bought those too) can fold up and go on a shelf or under a bed. Also if a friend also has a 1up, you can share trays between the two of you. I own two trays but when I need a third I borrow my friends and we are off!

    Love the rack... a couple issues. I heard they no longer cover theft, true? A non-supplied safety strap from the rack to the hitch is required by 1UP for them to cover the rack falling off. Does your bolt loosen from road vibration? I will miss a locking pin. Thanks for the vid. Thumbs up.

    • @anthonys6657
      @anthonys6657  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      kraisy dave, I have not had issue with the rack coming loose. On longer trips I use a locking pin that helps keep the bolt from falling out and that also prevents theft.

    • @anthonys6657
      @anthonys6657  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      No. I meant to say that I use a masterlock to lock the bike to the hitch, and that keeps the bolt from coming out...if it ever did...which it hasn't.

    thx for the video. You didn't explain much about how the bar that goes into the hitch securely fastens and locks to hitch other than 5 turns of an allen key and a little bolt that goes into a hole in the hitch. Do all hitches have that hole? I can't tell how it stays secure. Does turning the allen key raise the bolt into a hole in the receiver?

    • @anthonys6657
      @anthonys6657  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      It pushes a ball up into the hitch to secure. The hitch doesn't need a hole.

    I am considering buying this rack for my bikes and wondering if you've had any long term issues with locking mechanism on the rails starting to not hold or grip due the teeth wearing down?

      I have not, but you can buy a replacement rail if needed. Easy pezzy.

    Nice review! You mention that you can add on more racks. Does the 1.25" hitch support that?

      Yes. The 1.25" can hold up to three racks total. What's nice is that if you have friends that also have this rack you can interchange the racks in between the two of you. I did some shuttle runs in North Carolina and by utilizing my rack and my friend's rack we were able to shuttle up and down the mountain without too much trouble. It was nice to just move the racks back-and-forth between cars.

      Check your tongue weight if your concern is specific to what the hitch can support. 1up does mention this in their documentation. About to order one myself...

    Is there anything else you can do to secure the rack to the hitch besides what you did with the Allen Key?

      Yes, you can use a lock and/or a strap.

    Great video and thank you for your service. Quick question - I have a family of five (2 adults and 3 kids). Any suggestions for hauling five bikes on a mini van? I usually have a cargo carrier on the top. Thanks!

      Oh man...I think there is a five bike rack out there somewhere but never used one.

      It's been two years since your post, so I'm assuming you already figured out a solution, but in case you didn't, here are a couple options: 1) something like the Recon GEN2 5-bike rack (recon-racks.com/new-products/r5-5bike-shuttle-rack). I've never seen one in person, but my brother-in-law is considering getting this since he has a family of six (he'd get the six-bike rack obviously). 2) Get a 4-bike rack (whether it's the 1up or another brand) and put the 5th bike on the roof rack. I also have a cargo carrier on my Odyssey, and I slide that as far to one side as I can, which allows me to put a single bike rack on the opposite side.

      @@kenkim8017 thanks for the lead on Recon. Still haven't pulled the trigger, but was researching again last week. I am looking at the Saris, but concerned about its overall durability.

      @@ejpalm27 I'm not too familiar with the Saris racks, but I've done a good amount of research on the Thule, Kuat, and 1up racks, and the overall consensus seems to be that the 1up racks are clearly the most durable. So I'll be ordering that next week (currently backordered). Best wishes on your rack search!
