    Suggest you pre-fill the oil filter before installing. There are videos on TH-cam that explain why this is best practice.

    Thank you for the comprehensive tutorial, you didn't miss anything. Did this for the first time last year and came back here for a refresher. Last time when I took the drain plug out the stream of oil was so strong it shot right over the drain pan I had placed under it. What a mess.

    Great video that helps me to see all the steps, before I'm going to do my first Volvo 2.0T oil change. Thanks for the upload!

    Great vid! My car is a 2022 XC60 diesel. I hope the oil change on it is similar to this as your vid is so clear!

      Interesting that VCC (Volvo Car Company) calls for RBS0-2AE 0W-20 to be used for your diesel engine.

      @@A_Renaissance_Man I’m not very knowledgeable, but I was surprised. Most of my other cars took/take 0-30.

    After my first recommended 30k service interval (car only had 18k but because of time it was strongly suggested) I tested the Castrol oil with a lab analysis and then changed the oil twice in 3k miles to really get a good amount of any sediment out no matter how small. The car runs excellent with the same oil but now my oil analysis looks perfect every 4k. That was 64k ago.

      Have you considered using a different brand of motor oil? I wonder if castrol has an agreement with Volvo to plug their oil.

    I own a 2017 eu Volvo v40 with an 1.5 4cil petrol engine, with 290.000km on the clock and i live in Sweden. It requires 0w20 oil, that i change every 18/20.000km (roughly 11/12k miles). It doesn’t consume any oil and still runs so smoothly. I understand that people might like to change the oil at 30.000km (Volvo spec) but every 9000km/4000m, a bit too often 😅

      Fresh oil will never hurt , if you can financially afford changing oil every 5000 km then do it, there's literally 0 harm it can do to the engine unlike the alternative, also going over 10.000km on an oil change is very , very silly , that's how you kill turbos, lifters , shafts ,bearings etc... but to each their own.

      Since Volvo dealerships cannot sell you the oil because they get it in 55 gallon drums, I had to resort to (Rocky Mountain European) RMEuropean com. There are other sites but they had the best price.

    Nice video. FCP Euro has all the oil change kits from several good brands for this car. Liqui Moly has a great VCC RBS0-2AE 0w 20 for this application. Just sold by BMW and purchased a 2020 V60. Wish me better luck than.

    Great vid David, thanks. One thing you might try in the future, run the car until its warm first as the oil becomes less viscous and flows out much better. Btw, what manufacturer is that oil filter wrench from - that's a beefy beast!!!

    Isn’t it advisable to oil the o rings with fresh oil when replacing the o ring seals? I think it’s to allow the ring/seal to slide and then seat without stretching or buckling in spots which could cause a leak.

    • @A_Renaissance_Man
      @A_Renaissance_Man  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      You are correct.
      I have always done the with canister filters but with the replacement element filters I just counted on the residual oil on the canister, engine and gloves, to allow the installation to be completed smoothly.
      So far no issues but, like you said, a light film on the O-ring is always a good idea.
      Thank you for pointing that out.

    Wich is better oil mobil 1 or castrol ??

    • @A_Renaissance_Man
      @A_Renaissance_Man  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      I cannot give you a short answer. I have used Mobil1 for years on Volvos, BMWs, Mercedes and Toyotas but I cannot not find it with the new Volvo specifications.
      For the U.S. I have only found Motul, Wolf, Castrol and Liquid Moly to have the Volvo VCC RBS0-2AE specifications.
      Other large brands hide in the fog with words like "European" but they only meet the SAE, API, an G requirements.
      The two Volvo dealers I talked to said they get 55 gallon drums and do not sell to the public.
      Sorry for the long response.
      The Volvo specifications are for the turbo if you want to go past 100,000 miles on the 2.0L engine.
      Thank you for asking.

    So I see 5w30 is recommended in the manual but you should use the 0w20?

    • @A_Renaissance_Man
      @A_Renaissance_Man  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +4

      All 2.0 cylinder engines manufactured after 2016, if taken to the dealer for an oil change will get the 0W-20 as instructed by Volvo due to issues that can develop with the turbo.
      For BMW, Mercedes, VW, and Audi, the issue is timing chains.
      Back to Volvo, this is especially important for an engine going beyond 100,000 miles as that is the limit for the turbo whether or not you use the 0W-20 with the Volvo specified additives.
      The days of million mile Volvos are gone.
      Good luck and long life to your car.

    What did you use to jack up the car for this? Is there any jackpoints along the centerline so that jack stands can be placed at jack points?

    • @A_Renaissance_Man
      @A_Renaissance_Man  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you for asking. I use low 6-inch plastic ramps for oil changes. Reference Time Mark; 23:28
      I have Hydraulic Quick Jack Ramps, 6-inch plastic, and 12 inch metal ramps. I feel ramps are safer than using jacks and stands.

    So what Volvo has told you is that the 5w 40 oil they told you to run from when the car was new is now no longer the right oil,,Which has now been changed to 0w 30,,So which oil is the right one,,,It can't be both because nothing about or internal in the engine has changed,,,personally I would rather by a western brand car than a Chinese one like Volvo ,,I think Chinese cars are still very much unproven,,

    • @A_Renaissance_Man
      @A_Renaissance_Man  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      For Volvo the issue is turbo life. For BMW and Mercedes it is the cam chains. For Audi it is the crankshaft. VW is technically cheating but their issue is just plain engine life expectancy is less than 100k miles.
