ABOUT XIAMEN:
The city of Xiamen, located in southeast China's Fujian Province, is a great tourist destination. It is notable that Xiamen regularly ranks among the top 10 most livable cities in the country.
History
The history of Xiamen dates back to China's Western Jin Dynasty (265-316). At that time, Xiamen was part of Tong'an County. In modern times, Xiamen is one of the five special economic zones (SEZ) in China and is reputed for its favorable business environment.
Speaking of local culture in Xiamen, one can't skip Mazu. The worshiping of the Chinese sea goddess Mazu is a folk custom prevalent along China's southeastern coast. Mazu belief and customs have been inscribed on UNESCO's Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.
As legend has it, a girl named Lin Mo was born in 960 in Fujian. She was intelligent and benevolent, willing to help others since her youth. Later in her life, she achieved Taoist success and became a divinity. Then, she roamed around the country, rescuing and helping fishermen at sea.
Transportation
It is very convenient for travelers to fly to Xiamen from China's major cities like Beijing, Shanghai and Guangzhou. Traveling by high-speed railway is also a good choice.
As one of the most popular tourist destinations in Xiamen, Gulangyu Island is located on the estuary of the Jiulong River, only a six-minute ferry ride from downtown. It is famous for its varied architecture and multicultural history.
Many Europeans and Japanese lived on Gulangyu, today a vehicle-free island with beaches and meandering streets lined with old colonial villas

Having worked in International Shipping for many years, I sent many shipments (almost weekly) to Xiamen from my plumbing manufacturing facility in the USA. When I went to Xiamen two years ago, the deepest impression was that the seaside at night was particularly beautiful. Every few hundred meters there was an excellent street performer. Their singing deeply shocked me. Of course, I must not forget the seafood in the alley. so delicious

Xiamen has been voted the most livable city followed closely by Qingdao. Professor William Brown is a lecturer in Management in Xiamen University. He has live in Xiamen all his life after making the transition from Taiwan. He worked as a soldier in Taiwan before making the cross over to the People's Republic of China. He is now a son of China.

When I served in the army in Taiwan between 1983 - 1985, I was stationed at Kinmen, an island right outside of Xiamen. It was a complete different landscape and skyline back then, how amazing China has achieved over the decades. I am really looking forward to the reunification of our great nation. I have seen many videos of Xiamen and it is indeed a beautiful city and very livable. However, I think that the provincial capital of Fujian, Fuzhou, is just as beautiful and livable.

I know i used to go FuZou lot 2007 i was shock too i asked my friend is it as big as New York thought small town or something turn out very big as NY or even bigger n better bolder beautiful, thought all depression poor starving scary poor homeless junkie gang abused cop riots prison shelter broken subway but turn out non that like New York city one is bad one. Hahaha.
Fuzhou has significantly less beaches tho, Xiamen is a wonderful place for someone who likes tropical resorts and a modern lifestyle (apart from too much tourists visiting every summer).
Considering climate and environment and urban infrastructure, Xiamen is the most livable of China's big cities.Especially Gulangyu island which is a amazing place. 🐬Thanks for the video.

Beautiful place with a cool vibe! Nice mix of older film with the modern provides a sense of the amazing development over the years. The skyscraper wild flowing designs are an architect's dream! The balance of the infrastructure while maintaining the uniqueness of the natural environment must have been a challenge for the city managers. Of course I loved the amazing drone flyovers!!!!!!!!

I'm really in love with this city. Everything is awesome. I wait my visa to live here. People are so nice, landscape are awesome they also have a nice island shere's some student goes. you can do so anything with lot of respect; You can also see Taiwan from the beach.

Thanks for another excellent video, Alex. Just some fun facts. The old Western name for Xiamen was Amoy which derived from the Zhangzhou dialect of Fujianese/Hokkien, Ēe-mûi. It was the gateway where Chinese leave for overseas, particularly to South East Asia, same like Shantou (old name Swatow). Among the famous oversea chinese, Mr. Tan Kah Kee, left Fujian in 1890 at the age of 17, to join his father in Singapore. In later years, he made his fortune in Singapore, Malaya, HK etc. and was the founder father of the Xiamen University among the many contributions he did to improve other people's lives, both in China and overseas. In 2015, Xiamen University Malaysia, abbreviated as XMUM, become the first China university overseas campus, set up by China's Xiamen University in Malaysia. Yup, Xiamen is beautiful, been there once, a few years ago.

I just posted a clip on the Sea to Mountain Trail on my travel channel.
It opened in January 2020 - what are the chances - but it has become a landmark of the city.
I left Xiamen absolutely and 100% positively impressed by it.

Xiamen is considered one of China's most beautiful cities and certainly one of the cleanest. I have visited the city many times as my grandparents came from there and will go again when the pandemic is over.

Went to Xiamen 20 years ago. Its already the cleanest city in China then. Should had bought an apartment at the CBD area. The price then was 600K to 800K RMB. Heard the price shot up 10X a few years ago. Don't know the price now.
