This used to be the standard in my day. Nowadays, these parents actually go up to the school hootin' and hollering at the teachers for foolishness that their child has done. A lot of these children are not getting proper home training anymore.

The most effective reaction my Mom ever gave my brother to something dumb he'd done was basically a non-reaction. She'd had reactions like the mom in this video, tried other things, etc. But one day he came home after being suspended, waiting for the standard reaction, and my Mom just looked at him and said "Nothing I'm doing seems to be getting through to you, so you go and do whatever it is you want, since that's what you're going to do anyway." No screaming, no punishment, just my mom basically giving up on my stunned brother. So for the next 3 days, he tip-toed around her as she just continued normal life with a neutral tone and expression. Her basically writing him off and him realizing he'd pushed her that far was like a gut-punch to him. He begged her to just go ahead and punish him, yell at him, do something, etc. When she didn't, he got a taste of what it was like to have no one care enough about you to try to keep you in line, and he didn't like it at all. So after a couple days of this, they both sat down, had a long, honest talk with actual communication, and things got a lot better after that. Granted, you have to be careful doing a "consequence" like this, but my brother was a good kid deep down and our mom knew him well enough to take the gamble lol.
This always works with kids who you can't seem to get through. The moment you let them go, they do a 360 and start looking for bit of attention. If there's a case where they don't, that's a lost cause and you gonna really need prayers.
Mostly it is because they seek for attention which should make us think deeper to why as well, a parent should not blame themselves and there are ways to handel this situations but it might ne that he grew up having the feeling that he had to grab dor attention, sometime we do not know how to properly ask for love, care and apprecation and we do not want to be a burden by asking for love because it seames week bit sometimes all we need is a little bit of care and undeestanding as well as open communication
