As someone who grew up with the dapper and suave, version of Hugh Grant, I never EVER imagined I'd ever see him as an Oompa Loompa. Poorer I would've felt never giving it a chance. And I'm so glad I did because he was fantastic.

Yes they were played by little people in the original film, but that was more out of necessity than anything because they didn't have the special effects tech that they do now. If anything I'd think it might be kind of insulting for a little person to play an oompah loompa. It's not like they cast Hugh to play a character who is supposed to be a human with dwarfism because that WOULD be messed up. I'm all for appropriate casting but Oompa Loompas not being played by little people seems like such an odd hill to me. They're fictional creatures.

Near 50 and it's been too many years since I was a child and enjoyed like a child a movie. This film brought me back to those years. Highly recommend it. And Gene wilder would give it the nod!

I just finished watching this movie and OMG. This was indeed one of my favorite movies of all time. This movie was an escape to all and everything that bad and horrible in this world. I was laughing and smiling throughout this film. I fell in love with all of the characters. The word I can describe this movie is MAGICAL. Timothee Chalamet needs to win some type of award for this masterpiece, and the movie itself too. I encourage everyone to see this movie. I hope you enjoy the best time the same that I did. 10/10❤

They should have cast Peter Dinklage as Wonka and made him digitally taller.
Actually Willy Wonka was short with a goatee in the original book so Peter would be right in the part if it was followed just like the book.

Yes, you’re right- I admittedly was skeptical about it bc of my love for the original but this isn’t a reboot per se-I’m excited!!!! I used to dream as a kid of being in Willy Wonka’s chocolate factory! 😊

Really 🤔, it's based on the enslavement & exploration of tribes of African PIGMIES as it clearly states in the book as well as how they changed it so the ompa loompa didn't look like the Africans they were.
