    🔧 About RMS Diagnostics
Welcome to RMS Diagnostics, where we dive deep into the world of auto electrical fault finding. In this episode, we take on a tricky short circuit in a reverse light that leads us down an unexpected path. What seemed like a straightforward issue soon spirals into a mystery-thanks to an updated control module that wasn’t reflected in the dealer's diagrams. Follow along as we reverse-engineer the module and uncover the real source of the problem. It's a journey of discovery, problem-solving, and precision diagnostics that showcases how far expertise can go when standard solutions just won’t cut it.

Just a bit of advice for anybody else with the similar problem a quicker way to do this would be to replace the fuse with a load for instance if there's a five amp fuse protecting the circuit it is designed to carry five amps so 60 Watt headlight bulb at 12 volts is 5 amps use the bulb instead of a fuse the bulb will light because one of the cables is shorted to ground, i tend to disconnect the positive of the battery and power the bulb directly, using an inductive amp meter clamp all of the wiring loom on each plug until you find the five amps, when you find the wiring loom with the five amps go through each cable one at a time to define the five amps you found a short, five minutes done works every time and arguably you don't need wiring diagram until the last circuit even then you mostly can follow the current trail to the consumer whether its a failed component or a cable touching the body

Perfect example of paying an expert being cheaper than fitting parts till you stumble on the issue. Worth every £ despite what some cheap skates may believe.

  • @bigaldo8187

This was a phenomenal bit of fault tracing. "Heater doesn't work, so the problem is the headlight.."
And people buy £20 OBD readers believing they will be able to fix their own cars! They fail to acknowledge their vehicles contain a dozen or more computers, all talking to each other, and any one of them can bring up a warning light on the instrument cluster.
Love the channel, and total respect for training someone to learn this complex skill.

Experience is worth its weight in gold mate. If you never knew about the history of those parts and manufacturer changes you'd never have looked at the obscure which would likely have been a lot harder to diagnose that van; the average tech would more than likely have been scratching their heads for days. You said below this is for entertainment but I've learned so much already from this channel.
