Gosh, I owe you a ton right now. I misaligned my poles a month ago. Have been trying to figure out a solution for weeks. Even went so far as to tie rope through the poles and hook them up to opposing vehicles. Simply tore the rope....multiple times. This idea worked after 45 seconds. My daughters and I screamed in excitement. Bless you.
2024, and it worked after dropping it on the grass the 9th time. You are a life saver, and because of your video, my son is going to have a good summer holiday. Thank you.
It's basketball season for my daughters, and the hubby bought a hoop last night so he could practice with them. Not paying attention, he misaligned the poles, and we tried all night and today to get them apart. Found your video about 30 min ago, and at first, I was like, "No way, it can't be that easy." The hubby was even skeptical. Kid you not, about 5 drops on the ground, and it came loose. I couldn't help but laugh about it for 5 minutes. Your video saved us from a lot of discouragement and heartache. Thank you!
Still helping people two years later!! After lots of cursing, I calmed myself down and searched for help. This was everything! Worked like a charm, and the poles were separated in about 10 minutes and we were able to put them together correctly!
We put the pole together and I had a slight twist. It threw off all the other connections. We had no idea how to fix it. Your tip was amazing. Saved us lots of dollars and even more value is the reduction of stress. Thanks for sharing this video. It was a huge help. The tip worked perfectly.
I just messed this up today. Literally did the exact same thing you did. I tried a blowtorch, a pipe remover tool and nothing. Then I went on TH-cam and saw your video. I did it 20 times and it worked! Unbelievable. Thank you for so much for posting this. It's a $550 net so I was pissed! You saved us!
9 months later and you’re still changing lives...got pissed at myself for putting the pole on backwards, found your video and got happy, tried it 5 times, didn’t work, got bothered, watched till the end when you said it took maybe 30 times, tried it again, 14 drops later we’re all good!!!
Saved my butt last night. "Santa" was building the hoop while the kids slept and made a big mistake. I was about ready to scrap the whole thing after failing to pull the mis-seated poles apart for nearly 30 minutes. I had to separate 3 poles. One came off in about 30 drops. The second one took nearly 70 drops, but it worked! Thank you!!!
I accidentally put the poles together about 90 degrees off and then slammed them tight. They weren’t coming apart. But after watching this video and about 50 drops later, it came undone. AMAZING. This saved me! Thank you!
Dudee. you are a life saver!! IT WORKED! I bought basketball hoop and started setting it up, but unknown to me some of the parts were in the pole!! I hammered, tugged and tried everything I could think of for 4 hours to detach the pole. I finally gave up and then I decided to search for videos when I came across yours. My first thought was this is not going to work in a millions years. After like the 8th drop, I started to feel it loosen until suddenly it slipped right off!! Unbelievable! THANK YOU!
This video was clutch! You saved the day! I was bummed out that I attached the top pole incorrectly. I used some PB Blaster and 14 drops into the grass and boom it was released. Thank you!
Wife of the year right here! My husband made a mistake in assembly, first step in. Found your video and it saved the day, even with a peice of wood wedged in from trying to hammer it apart!!!
Just made my day!!! Bought a spalding basketball hoop the other day and made the same mistake.. trying tons of other stuff to try to rip it apart, 3 big men etc… and then searching “spalding hoop mistake install” and finding your video and HOW simple!! My son is now really happy that we can continue the installation 😅
It’s my son’s 7th birthday today and I was just a little off and we tired to twist it, hammer it. Then I googled it figured some other bastard must have done the same thing and your video came out. It worked. Talk about a stress reliever. Thanks man.
A lifesaver! Was so stressed because they were super jammed. Worked perfectly and got the benefit of a good squat work out too. Took well over 50 drops before they came apart. Thanks for posting
This video saved my nieces birthday, we tried 2 trucks and a strap..nothing. this video worked in 3 bounces and everyone standing in silence. Thanks for this video brother.
Worked perfectly! I just sold my old basketball system and needed to dismantle it. Everything was easy to dismantle except for the pole, but then I saw your video and all 3 pole parts came apart after only 10-15 drops in less than a minute. Wonderful! Thank you!
I don't usually leave comments! But you literally saved my life!!! I was stuck with a Sulking Son not knowing what to do after trying out everything under the sun. Thank you so much.
You just saved me, dude. I put the top one into the bottom one, trying to put one together for my nephew. It sat there for weeks until I saw your video. Thank you...
We tried pulling this thing apart for 30 mins and then I went to the internet and found your video. We dropped it indoors on a carpeted area. Worked like a charm! My family and I thank you sincerely. It’s my son’s Xmas present so 😅
THANK YOU SO MUCH for making this video!!! My hubs & son were so frustrated and were about to just destroy it to get them apart when I found your video! Bless you!!!!
Wow. Unbelievable. This worked. I was stressed the night before wondering if it would work. I used this process on all 3 poles. Came apart in about 20-30 drops. Thank you so much for your tip!!!
Absolute legend. Just bought it kids distracted me and the wind blew the page over and I put the two tall pipes together without the short one in the middle. As a grown man I nearly cried as this is a birthday present for me but to play with my son. Life saver ❤🙏🏻
This helped me a lot. Had this exact problem and at first I tried different ways to bend the poles to align better but couldn't. Then I spent a ton of time looking online for a solution until I came across your video. Within minutes I had the poles detached and started fresh and correctly without risking making a mess, ruining the poles or injuring myself. I had to throw the poles onto the grass maybe 10 times only, despite them being really stuck. Awesome video, thanks so much!!
You are a legend. The stress I felt between my son looking on and the thought of going in to tell the wife I had ruined this expensive goal lol. Me and my kid did a victory dance when they came apart. Didn’t count the drops but it works
Holy smokes! It worked! Just spent 2 hours trying to brute force it. Was defeated, and then came across this video. 30(exactly) drops later my 2 poles were free! You're the best!
I literally did the exact same thing ... just smashed them together before lining them up right. I tried the mallet and block, tried ratcheting, hooked it up to my truck bumper even ... found this video, 5 minutes later they were free! Thanks a ton!
I did not believe this would work with two stuck tent poles but it actually did!! All I had was olive oil spray so sprayed that on and it separated on the third drop onto the grass. Amazing. Thanks so much!!!
I had this problem while assembling the new basket ball hoop and all, I googled and found your this video and o tried your trick and it worked after a minute. My wife and our neighbor friend and I tried to solve this problem for one long hour doing different things and they didn’t work. But I found your this video and we tried it and it worked after a minute. Thank you so very, very, veryyyyyyy much for your video! And I hope it will help many others too. 😊🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏😊
This was brilliant. I really thought for a lot of the process of trying to separate the poles I was the unlucky one who this wasnt going to work for! I did have to resort to harder ground than lawn and i have dented my pole a bit but I'm so glad they eventually separated. Thank you dude!
My kids and I got their dad one for Father’s Day and I was trying to be helpful and put it together. I did exactly what you did. I’m going to try this method. Thank you so much. I hope it works for me!
Hey thanks so much you're a lifesaver for making this video 😅😅😅 Hubby is thoroughly checking all remaining instructions as we speak Another Christmas saved! 🎉
Thanks. This just saved the day. I was about to start drilling new holes in the top pole as id assembled it 90 degrees out. My wife suggested i google it first.
Totally worked! I bought a second hand bb hoop, so it was stuck and rusted, so I wasn't sure it would work for me. Added bonus of getting my squats in with the drops. You are my hero
OMG you saved my life! I was so mad and this worked!! Not only did I tell my husband to line it up incorrectly… also got irritated when he questioned me 🤦🏼♀️ stress gone and a happy 11 year old after 50ish drops! I was screaming when it started to budge… took quite a few and I got discouraged then bam!
Thanks so much! I was feeling defeated and about to give up on this project but luckily stumbled on your video. It did the trick and I was able to realign the poles better the second time and achieve the recommended 3 & 1/2 inch overlap. Thank you!
It helped man thanks ! But... I had to put two long pieces of metal through the holes at the top (pole1) and at the bottom (pole2), stand with my feet on the excess metal (pole2) and use the excess metal (pole1) as a handle to pull upwards. As I didn't have someone to help with the pulling
Worked like a charm for me. There's no need to drop the poles on concrete; your lawn is fine. One refinement: drop (fling) the poles down at an angle to create a moment arm. That is, the end with the inner sleeve at the stuck connection should hit the ground first. Another possibility: if the bottom edge of your installed backboard is not level as seen from the front, lower it and remove the uppermost bolt holding the triangular plates (but not the levers) to the pole. Use a piece of rebar or a large screwdriver to twist the top pole in the right direction and then make sure the bolts holding the lever bars to the backboard are sufficiently tightened (but not overly tightened). If you don't see the problem before the backboard is attached, the latter method might avoid a tear down back to the disassembly of the pole for Mather PE's method. Extremely poor design by Spalding. It's too easy to mis-align dimples to troughs. The poles should have holes that line up and some extra nuts and bolts to hold them in the right position. The instructions should also describe this separation method.
You seriously saved my life. I just bought my son a Spalding system and didn't correctly align in. Spalding site just says they are designs to stay together permanently. I was nearly crying. This work for me with just 5 drops to the ground after spraying with WD40. Thank you!!!!!!!
My husband did exactly the same thing and its been sitting like that for 6 months. I'm so happy we may have found a solution and won't have to buy another one!
I'm getting a used portable backstop tomorrow. Started thinking about how I would get it home, and realized the tube could be a problem. I don't know how old it is, but I assume things will be rusted. Your video gives me hope; will report back.
I was so excited to see it come apart for you that I didn’t watch the whole video. I just ran out in 111 degree heat try on my neighbor’s lawn. Didn’t work at all after 6 drops. Came back in the house defeated and sweaty. Then sat down and you tell me “in all honesty”😂😅 I followed the assembly instructions to “bang” the poles 6-7 times to seat it. These suckers are stuck stuck😅 They’re sending me replacement parts on Monday, but I’ll still go back out when it cools off outside and actually tell my neighbor what I’m doing so he doesn’t think I’m trying to destroy his lawn bcuz I think I’ll need to drop it at least 40 times.😩
I tried everything under the sun before I tried the way in the video. Can’t say it will work for every situation..but enough drops and it started to shift. Hope it works for you eventually
Dude. Christmas 2020. Santa brought this hoop and of course I have to assemble it (damn elf Union has ruined the process if you ask me). YOU SAVED MY LIFE! I just spent the worst hours of my life trying to unf&ck this and then you show me how to do it in 90 seconds
@@MatherPE My neighbors were getting ready to connect one end to a tree and the other to a truck and pull them apart. I looked on TH-cam to find videos of that going horribly wrong, and instead came across yours! I was able to save the day before any injuries occurred.
Gosh, I owe you a ton right now. I misaligned my poles a month ago. Have been trying to figure out a solution for weeks. Saving the day!!
Matt, words cannot express the gratitude I have for your video. Thank you so much. I was beyond frustrated, you made my day.
Awesome!! That’s why I did it
Bless you my man. I went from zero to hero in 10 minutes. I misaligned one segment and thought I was done for.

Love the victory dance…
I was in the same boat man, just got it to go 10 mins ago after watching this video 🍻

Absolute legend - what a tip! I felt so stupid after putting them around the wrong way. Massive thanks!
It is such a simple mistake..thousands have done it..you’re not alone
OMG! I had my doubts, but this worked a charm. Took 9 drops - pretty good workout too! Thank you so much, life saver!
Had doubts too
dude, you saved our sanity putting this Christmas gift together. Thanks so much!
Very welcome..I know the struggle!
A massive thank you from Sydney Australia. I dropped that pole at least 130 times, but it worked. Saved a massive blue with the Mrs.
👍👍

Glad you were able to save the day!
Hey thanks so much you're a lifesaver for making this video 😅😅😅
Hubby is thoroughly checking all remaining instructions as we speak
Another Christmas saved! 🎉
So glad it helped!
You sir are an angel! Thank you so much, I went to autozone picked up some WD-40 and within a few drops the poles came right apart!
Glad it worked!
Saved my life mate, thank you for this.
All the way from Melbourne Australia.
It’s a common problem all over the world! Glad it worked!
Thanks. This just saved the day. I was about to start drilling new holes in the top pole as id assembled it 90 degrees out. My wife suggested i google it first.
It’s amazing the helpful stuff you can find in TH-cam. Cheers.
Totally worked! I bought a second hand bb hoop, so it was stuck and rusted, so I wasn't sure it would work for me. Added bonus of getting my squats in with the drops. You are my hero
Awesome..:glad it helped!

You legend , I was a plonker and got em jammed but your hack worked a treat , much appreciated 👍👍
You’re welcome..I know the feeling of relief!
Thanks, you just saved me and my dad a lot of time.

im literally about to go across the city and take one apart thank you so much mate! i was getting worried aha
I thought I was ordering new parts haha
Sir,
You’re the man. Thank you so much for uploading this!!!
Comments like these made it so worthwhile! You’re welcome!
WOW!! what a life saver! I was on hold with the manufacturer about to purchase replacement poles.
Glad it helped. Thx for the subscribe
Heck yeah buddy my wife actually found this video while I was going crazy and highly irratated w these dam poles lol
Worked like a charm !!
Yeah man! I hear all of this!
Worked like a charm for me. There's no need to drop the poles on concrete; your lawn is fine. One refinement: drop (fling) the poles down at an angle to create a moment arm. That is, the end with the inner sleeve at the stuck connection should hit the ground first. Extremely poor design by Spalding. It's too easy to mis-align dimples to troughs. The poles should have holes that line up and some extra nuts and bolts to hold them in the right position. The instructions should also describe this separation method.
Amazing! Don’t give up after a few tries. I almost gave up until I saw it took people 30-50 drops. Thank you!!!!!
Awesome!
And... once again, you saved the day! Your soul will live eternally for this one act alone!
Might be my favourite comment so far!
Omg how does this work. It took me closer to 50x but I had them together real good. Saved my life.
I was blown away too. Total relief!
This video could well have saved my marriage! Thank you.
Dude, you totally rock you saved us. Thanks so much for taking time out to make this video and share it.!! He
Glad I could help!
You seriously saved my life. I just bought my son a Spalding system and didn't correctly align in. Spalding site just says they are designs to stay together permanently. I was nearly crying. This work for me with just 5 drops to the ground after spraying with WD40. Thank you!!!!!!!
Glad it worked. When I got mine stuck…I was so mad..couldn’t believe it was real! You’re welcome
If I could send multiple likes, I would. This saved our day. Thanks man.
Very welcome! Happy hooping!
OMG! This actually works, I can confirm. You don't need the specific items though. All you require is normal oil. Thank you so much!
You’re welcome!
This works!!! Saved me from destroying it (almost took a hammer to it!) and a headache!! Thanks for the upload!!
You’re so welcome
This saved me today while trying to correct someone else’s mistake with soccer net posts. Awesome!!!
Multi sport usage..awesome
Thank you so so much!! You just saved my husband's birthday present.

Yeahhh!!
You just saved my expensive basketball hoop. Thank you very much. I only needed WD-40
God bless you 🙏
Great! Glad it helped
My husband did exactly the same thing and its been sitting like that for 6 months. I'm so happy we may have found a solution and won't have to buy another one!
Awesome
I'm getting a used portable backstop tomorrow. Started thinking about how I would get it home, and realized the tube could be a problem. I don't know how old it is, but I assume things will be rusted. Your video gives me hope; will report back.
Good luck! The older they get..I’m sure the tougher they may be to come apart.
I told my wife it's not going to work and it worked! Thank you so much!!!
I was shocked too
I was so excited to see it come apart for you that I didn’t watch the whole video. I just ran out in 111 degree heat try on my neighbor’s lawn. Didn’t work at all after 6 drops. Came back in the house defeated and sweaty. Then sat down and you tell me “in all honesty”😂😅
I followed the assembly instructions to “bang” the poles 6-7 times to seat it.
@@MatherPEthey sent the replacements without any problems. But I went back to my neighbor’s yard with the WD-40 and it worked like a charm. Thanx!!
Dude. Christmas 2020. Santa brought this hoop and of course I have to assemble it (damn elf Union has ruined the process if you ask me). YOU SAVED MY LIFE! I just spent the worst hours of my life trying to unf&ck this and then you show me how to do it in 90 seconds
You are not alone..lots of ppl in the struggle puttin up hoops for Christmas gettin help from this hack. Glad it helped..happy hoopin
It's amazing how many people do this!! Thanks so much for the tip!!
And at one time I thought it was only me!!
@@MatherPE My neighbors were getting ready to connect one end to a tree and the other to a truck and pull them apart. I looked on TH-cam to find videos of that going horribly wrong, and instead came across yours! I was able to save the day before any injuries occurred.
Haha…glad you were able to give some better direction in time!
Maybe you’re sick of hearing this but thank you! Took 21 drops to get it unstuck. Amazing!
Never sick of it..never thought it would help so many people!
Saved my life! And saved my kids weekend! Thanks buddy!
