Equity comes from the disability act of 1987 -It was for special needs - You have to qualify for it. They took the special Ed poster you held up an hijacked it. It is an insult to think in entire groups of people needs special needs services twistedly based off the law to help those who need a wheel chairs, Hearing aids, and or AAC devices. IDEA was the first law. pL99-454 amended PL94 -142. Mainstreaming was replaced by inclusion (sound familiar?) Equity means equal access not OUTCOME - Too high a variable to reach my friend. If I give two people ten dollars - one will have something to show for it and the other will waste it on things that are consumed - Out come was not the same - Not because they didn’t both have ten dollars but because of the choices and effort made or the lack of it. The disproportionality thing also special education law - Lee verse Macon - I really can not stand that people took laws for special needs people and twisted - but I gave you the receipts. I have only been teach special needs for 36 years. What can you expect? They sent us home with two preschool standards 1) wash your hands and 2) cover you nose and mouth when you sneeze or cough.
The movement hijacked the special needs law and to be honest should bow its head in shame. But God is watching
