- TRANSATLANTIC are playing the Genesis classic "The Return of the Giant Hogweed" live at High Voltage Festival in London on July 24, 2010. They were joined on stage by none other than guitarist STEVE HACKETT (ex-Genesis) for this very special encore.
This festival gig was the last concert of the band's "Whirld Tour" in 2010. It was recorded by BlinkTV.
This performance can be found on the new Transatlantic live DVD "Whirld Tour 2010". Get it if you don't have it yet! It's available from: www.radiantreco...

Just excellent. Brilliant. Every musician was so into it they brought the a game +
transatlantic + Steve Hackett = prog heaven!
Steve Hackett is Genesis!
Stunning guitar duel! And everybody else seemed to be having the time of their lives
Wow! Everywhere here. A classic. Nicely done.
Haha love how Roine looks like a kid at Christmas! Nice to know even in your 50s that can still happen to you!
The whole point of the Transatlantic's version is that it is their version which has SH as a guest.... It's not a copy of the original or them trying to be better then Genesis....It's just their souped up version and for their practise time in rehearsals etc it's a bloody good version!!
Steve Hackett is simply amazing.
Quando la musica incontra l'arte ne esce fuori una pura MERAVIGLIA !!!!!
Bass its perfect
antonio lara Marillion bassist Pete Trewavas.
This must be the first time Steve Hackett played this song standing up!

@Zaid Jaxton it did the trick and I actually got access to my account again. I'm so happy:D
Thanks so much, you saved my ass!
Stunning! So much talent on one stage! That face at 6:30 though :)
ha ha, yeah!
I love being a part of the underground
Yeah growing into the song all gets really goooood guysndolls
As much as I admire Portnoy and think he's an unbelievably talented drummer, I cannot help but think Collins did a much better job, man. Does anyone else agree?
different styles...
I really liked it I have to say! Portnoy's playing I mean. The whole thing was terrific though! Loved Phil's original too.
Portnoy is playing it more like a metal song, with "heavy hands". Phil is more smooth, more jazzy with all those ghost notes. Different styles but I like more Phil´s drumming on this one.
To be fair, Portnoy nails it. Chester may imaginably have done better but not sure.
Both play superbly.
This is proof that good musicians will exist anytime no matter what others say. Its just that nowadays the shitty artists spend millions of dollars on PR and production in order to compensate for their lack of talent. So, in other words, the spotlight goes where the money is.
Greatsssss musicians ....big ones talents ....greats profesionals ...
Mi manca tanto il prog!! 😍😍😍
Really amazing!
Steve, excelent guitar
Fantastic.
I love this!!!!
Hogweed on fertilizer! Epic!
The first metal Song❤
Stunning musicianship and a fabulous cover. I’ve seen Genesis live a few times back in the day and Steve Hackett too. Although I thoroughly enjoyed watching and listening to this I have to say that the vocals just weren’t quite up to the mark. In saying that, I’d happily go to a gig to see them and I stopped going to gigs about twenty years ago!
OUTSTANDING
That is the closest ive ever seen Steve Hackett come to playing typical 'rock' guitar...excellent, excellent version of the song...
Hackett Tapping Guitar my God
I really wanna see dream theater play genesis cover for some great songs like firth of fifth or cinema show
quelle lecon de musique que Steve fait my God
I like Neal Morse's vocals (could do without his proselytizing though but otherwise like him) but I think Stolt would have fit this song better with his John Wetton style vocals.
either way its really impressive that he can sing while playing the organ part! that isnt a simple part even when your sitting down and focusing on the keyboard, I cant imagine trying to stand up and be the frontman while playing that
Amazing.
Great camera work at 7:15 or so to show both guitarists!
PORTNOY CAN PLAY MUSIC!!!!!! AND WITHOUT 1.000.000 STROKES PER MINUTE!!! GOOD.
veri crazy good
God damn.
Would love to see / hear the entire Glast performance!
That may be the most animated I've seen Roine on stage.
Still great Steve H
Hade pisan euy
Great bassist here !
Francesco Ladislas Marillion
Francesco Ladislas Pete Trewavas.
I presume this is how Neal Morse made it onto Genesis Revisited II?
call me crazy....but i would rather see transatlantic more than any one else on the planet.
Neal does this justice. It’s not Gabriel, but it’s fantastic nonetheless.
The hogweed plant itself....Here is something i made about the Hogweed plant itself in good humour please check it out, simply just type in the following.........Giant Hogweed with Hugo Montego
nossa .. - WOW -muito bom . O instrumental está um show .(very good. The instrumental is a show.)

einfach super!!
👁 El ojo
Sehr Gut !!! ;-)
IMO there is too much attention for keyboard where guitar should preveal.
Нихуя себе! My love :-) сыграли. Вокалист тока не тащит
A lot of talent there. Unfortunately this sounds rather strained and off.
What
The wimpish boy band vocals kill it!
Oh dear vocals are poori
Have you ever heard the bootleg that became the Genesis Archive live material? PG is God awful. I have read that as a pre condition for release PG asked that he could re-record the vocals. If you have never sang live before, its hard. Throw in a ridiculous keyboard part and not to mention Neal Morse is AT LEAST 50 here. I've never been a Spock's beard fan, but Im willing to give the man some latitude for his effort. The complexity of this piece is mind blowing and If i had been present, I would have been losing my mind that I was seeing Hogweed live.

He is good
OK, but nowhere near as crisp as the real thing.
Too bad singer and drummer just don't cut it.
No good version. The voice of Morse just isn't the right sound for the song.
😥 Ruined without Pete on vocals. Oof! Not even in key.
Someone call 999, an atrocious murder has been committed. Now I know why I don't care for American drummers - except Phil Ehart. Portnoy sounds as if he has gathered together as many cardboard boxes as he could and proceeded to pulverize them. The least said about the god awful vocals the better. The first time I would question Steve guesting with a band - serious error of judgement.
Godawful vocals. Can't listen anymore.
i don+t like the singer...
