When John Bennett (Mark Wahlberg) was a little boy, he made a wish that Ted (Seth MacFarlane), his beloved teddy bear, would come alive. Actually agree with Mell in this one. Milas character was kidding around the entire time, and loved his personality so she didn’t want him to change change just grow up and take things a bit more serious at times. She would have been fine with the party I think honestly

Yeah, if he had actually been an adult about it. "Hey, honey, Ted is planning a home-warming party on saturday. How does that fit in our schedule?" Then they could have made plans to go to her bosses party for a bit and go to Ted's later, or he could have gone, or even gone alone to their events and hook up later.
I would agree with you but I think that aspect was retconned in the sequel.
@@kratosGOW mila kunis couldn't be in the movie due to irl stuff- so they do what most do in sequels whenever a supporting actor can't appear: change the script and what should have happened. If that's what initially the plot would end up as, they could've ended the first movie with them staying broken up and they just be two bros sticking together at the end. But they threw away the character and replaced her with someone who could be available for the role (similar to transformers)

My favs
Mell is clearly right about Mila's character. She loved Mark's character for who he was, but just wanted him to be a bit more responsible so she could have a partner she could rely on. She didn't communicate as clearly as she could have because she was frustrated and tired of the bull. So she could have done better too. But she showed that she really cared for him and Ted by making that wish at the end. She never really hated Ted, just hated that Mark wouldn't prioritize their life together over getting high and fucking around with his friend. She just wanted more balance.

Ted coming back to life with a lopsided face to mess with John, in the theater, might be the hardest I've laughed in my life. I was working as a theater projectionist and I snuck a couple of my buddies in to watch this film the day before it came out. Great times, would love to see them make a Ted 3.

29:26 a Teddy Ruxpin doll was one of those talking animatronic dolls that could tell stories or sing lullabies, such as "Come Dream With Me Tonight". But sometimes those things can be haunted. I have heard stories about how they would come to life even without the tape. Heck even Robin Williams, God rest his soul, made joke about it. "You can't do coccaine, there's a Teddy Ruxpin Doll. And sometimes when you go to sleep, the doll wakes up and goes 'you must kill mommy and daddy'." It even had a cartoon TV series.

This is the greatest reaction I have ever seen. This movie was actuality the first R-rated movie I have ever seen an I do not regret it.
I love the contrast between the two! Mell's Goody-Two-Shoes and Billy's Stand-Your-Ground personalities make such great debate-asides.
I understand milas character from a womans pov . Her character has been in a long term relationship for 4 years . She obviously loves her boyfriend and clearly cares for ted , otherwise she wouldn’t have wished for him to come back at the end of the movie. However, mila’s character is also at a point in her life where she wants to get married and probably have a family. She doesn’t want to wait for her 30 something year old boyfriend to grow up and stop smoking pot all day with his teddy bear.
True, but then you look at Sam in the sequel and she’s totally ok with their dynamic. Also, bear in mind, Ted is married there too. The change has to happen naturally

8:32 this was the movie that introduced me to Flash Gordon. When I first heard the theme song, I instantly knew what band it was that did it. Freakin Queen with my main man Freddy Mercury. And at that moment, I knew in my heart, I had to have that classic 80s space opera. It was the coolest thing I have ever seen.
