I heard the author planned to have yuki and Tohru together at the end but wanted to first see how the fans will receive it by having some romantic scenes between Tohru with yuki and kyo and well majority favored kyo more so the author made the changes for kyo and Tohru to be together at the end. It surprises me that there isn’t a lot yuki&tohru shippers I thought they had more better chemistry in the beginning of the chapters before he claim to consider her as a mother figure.

It confirmed my guess was right when I thought about how the sudden change in anime felt unnatural, like the writer just switched to another story in the middle of the series and that it wasn't a plan from the beginning. I honestly think it ruined the anime. They should put more meaningful tohru-kyo scenes from the beginning and also they should put Mitchi from the beginning, or simply stick to the first idea about yoki-tohru. This way I got dissapointed and left with weird uncomfortable feeling about Fruits basket. This happens especially when you're the type of person who get involved emotionally too much in fiction shows.

As if he used to think he was in love with her romantically, but as time passed he grew to understand it was a maternal love instead! And that's why the chance in interactions was so sudden :)

I am Team Tohru and Kyo all the way since their relationshop works and they are very much compatible. Kyo handles Tohru's trauma very well, gives her the assurance she needs while Tohru gives him the love he lacked in his life and shows him that people don't leave and they stay. Yuki couldn't have provided that to Tohru since he had his own issues to resolve.

Please don't be ridiculous. That would be absurd and would make no sense at all. Creators can't just change the entire romantic storyline only because of some people's fantasies. Because one thing is to ship a couple, another one, and very wrong, is to try to make the show look like something it's not and wanting to change it. The Yukiru ship exists only in your shipper mind, it was never real in the story. There is a huge and objective difference between the kind of interactions Tohru has with Kyo and the ones she has with Yuki, and between the way they act towards her, as the series goes on. Yuki and Tohru were never meant to develop romantic feelings for each other and they only share a few flirty moments, which are absolutely superficial. The deep moments between them have nothing to do with romance. The only reason why Yuki flirted with Tohru was that, as he said himself, he was embarassed of seeing her as a mother and therefore tried to consider romantically, but the truth was that he didn't like her that way. And these are the facts.
