Im still furious at Momijis dad, Ill always think hes the most selfish! He shouldve had his wifes memories of him erased as well or simply divorced her after erasing momiji. He says he'll love momiji enough to make up for it but how can he when he clearly lives an entirely seperate life! He chose his own happiness over his sons and that is despicable to me.
You can't hate him for that... He loves his wife obviously, he can't just divorce her when she's in so much pain -- even if it's for the wrong reason. He just wanted to save his wife, and although it came at the cost of her son's memories, it was the best possible outcome. Think about it, her life was at stake. What could he have done ? And in the end, he didn't really reject Momiji. They were still in touch, and he isn't harsh with him. He just wanted a happy family. You can't blame him for being human

I didnt say he should keep her in pain, he should've erased her memories of the both of them so she would've been completely fine and then he could've been a good a dad to Momiji and probably would have gotten over her eventually. Thats her happy, Momiji happy and he could've been too if he tried but like I said he was too selfish and chose his own happiness instead which makes him if nothing else a failure as a father. That "Happy Family" could've been him and his son and maybe a new woman in the future and she could've had one with somone else as well but no instead his son gets to watch everyday as his father spends his time with a sister and mother who can never recognise him, any brief time he spends with his son will NEVER make up for that and it must not be a lot of time considering he has a career and whole seperate family to worry about.

Just Another Army I mean, I’d think it would be a bit jarring, the doctor handing over your newborn baby to you and the baby turns into a tiny hairless rodent you can hold within the palm of your hand, without warning, and you have no idea why. In the case of Momiji’s mom, it was so jarring that it broke her. If she had somehow known beforehand, at least been told about the curse, then she might not have had as severe of a reaction.
Really. Hiro's mom loves sheep. She gets a sheep as a child , she was happy. If Momiji's mom was an avid bunny lover , it could have been an entirely different case !

Tbh I didn’t like him at first becoz I thought his energy is a little bit too much for me lol, I’m super introvert and I don’t really like too noisy people. But after this scene I totally changed my mind and he became 1 of my favorite character in this show. He’s like a ray of sunshine despite of living thru a very dark past, at such a young age... He’s so strong and independent, I wish I could be him at some point
I thought Momiji was gonna the typical "cheerful, cute" boy that looks like a girl as portrayed in many other animes but he's different. He's strong and he's got a depth to his character. My heart aches for this boy so much

So she's probably very sorry for Kyo so she didn't want Kyo to go outside to have people look down on him which will make kyo sad. OK so I just realized that Momiji wears girly clothes and is cute and all because he wants to be like Momo so his mom will notice him. Not to mention when he spoke in broken Japanese with Tohru when he first met her EVEN tho he is fluent (he mentioned momo can't speak Japanese properly so when she speaks it's cute) HE'S GOT BE ONE OF THE MOST STRONGEST PERSON EVER I'M GONNA GO AND CRY BYE.
I remembered this scene in the original anime and how I bawled my eyes out watching it. I was still in my teens, maybe 16 or so and that was what solidified Fruits Basket as such a heart wrenching beautiful story to me.
This was really sad, momiji is so strong and despite his sad past, he's my favorite character out of everyone else in the anime. That's really messed up that his mom had her memories of him erased so she could have a normal life again, but why? Momiji is her son and she forgot about him, and now she just thinks that he's someone else's kid all because she had no idea about the curse in the first place, if she actually knew about the curse, she wouldn't have reacted like that and have a mental breakdown.
I loved this scene so much from the original because of the Okazaki Ritsuko theme they used for the most emotional stories... I can't watch this season without feeling the loss of that theme :)

She knew nothing about the curse, and the moment she first touch the baby, he turn into some kind of "creature" (newborn rabbits are hairless, like hairless mind), and shortly after that, she was informed that he is cursed, and she wouldn't be able to hug him normally for the rest of his (her) life. Tbh, I think just the raw info is enough to crush any woman who just finish giving birth (they are generally mentally weak at this point). Moreover, it took the parents extreme will-power to accept and love their cursed child (and that's for the Sohma members who already know the curse), so imagine how much more it will take for outsiders to be able to do the same. I won't say what Momiji's mother did is right, and I won't justify her actions either, but you need to know that not everyone is as mentally strong as Tooru, and I personally think his mother's mental is pretty weak to begin with. Her actions are wrong, but it is understandable why she did those things.
Moreover, imagine you were pregnant for 9 months, happily waiting for your child, and then suddenly, you realized you gave birth to an animal, how would you feel?
I personally don't like the father. I'm so angry how could he say such a thing to kid. How much responsibility should momiji carry?! He was just a kid. And not to say they gave birth to daughter. It honestly looks like they just replaced Momiji.

It's been said that the family members of the zodiacs also "receive" the curse, just not directly like the zodiacs themselves. Spoilers ahead I’m not comparing or anything but most of the characters got a good ending…except Momiji- he won’t get his family back nor will Tohru accept his love. That baby face of his looking at his mom break down and get her memories wiped while saying such harsh words will always break my heart. And the fact that he still thinks no memories are bad memories. That episode where his curse broke and he tells Akito he’ll move forward even tho he’ll never get his family back or the girl he loves- then goes late to class because he took a detour to see his mother- that whole interaction plus him finally letting everything go and deciding to keep going and find his own family- I CANNOT IM SOBBING SO SO HARD 😭

Can you really blaming her though? She knew nothing about the curse, and the moment she first touch the baby, he turn into some kind of "creature" (newborn rabbits are hairless, like hairless mind), and shortly after that, she was informed that he is cursed, and she wouldn't be able to hug him normally for the rest of his (her) life. Tbh, I think just the raw info is enough to crush any woman who just finish giving birth (they are generally mentally weak at this point). Moreover, it took the parents extreme will-power to accept and love their cursed child (and that's for the Sohma members who already know the curse), so imagine how much more it will take for outsiders to be able to do the same.
I won't say what Momiji's mother did is right, and I won't justify her actions either, but you need to know that not everyone is as mentally strong as Tooru, and I personally think his mother's mental is pretty weak to begin with. Her actions are wrong, but it is understandable why she did those things.
Moreover, imagine you were pregnant for 9 months, happily waiting for your child, and then suddenly, you realized you gave birth to an animal, how would you feel?
I personally don't like the father. I'm so angry how could he say such a thing to kid. How much responsibility should momiji carry?! He was just a kid. And not to say they gave birth to daughter. It honestly looks like they just replaced Momiji.
@@SenthilKumar-hi4oc honestly this is very hard to say. I won't say the father is not at fault here, but I think we need to know that their decision was more or less affected by the curse, too. It's been said that the family members of the zodiacs also "receive" the curse, just not directly like the zodiacs themselves. And by "receive" here, I mean in a way to make the zodiacs life more hurtful (the curse functions in a way to make their lives bad).

pongo5000 I understand that theres that option but still it’s not like he just completely left momiji alone, we can clearly see with the way momiji hangs around his father’s building and how he is as a person that the father did a great job in raising momiji with love. And you can’t just say that he should leave his wife when you don’t know the depth of their love. For me he made the right decision, but of course you’re free to believe inyour own opinion.

I’m not comparing or anything but most of the characters got a good ending…except Momiji- he won’t get his family back nor will Tohru accept his love. That baby face of his looking at his mom break down and get her memories wiped while saying such harsh words will always break my heart. And the fact that he still thinks no memories are bad memories.
That episode where his curse broke and he tells Akito he’ll move forward even tho he’ll never get his family back or the girl he loves- then goes late to class because he took a detour to see his mother- that whole interaction plus him finally letting everything go and deciding to keep going and find his own family- I CANNOT IM SOBBING SO SO HARD 😭
